These comments say enough. By pundit Cliff May and former VP Cheney:

Step (1): Return all Gitmo detainees to Yemen.

Step (2): Use Predator missiles to strike the baggage-claim area 20 minutes after they arrive.

As I’ve watched the events of the last few days it is clear once again that President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war. He seems to think if he has a low key response to an attempt to blow up an airliner and kill hundreds of people, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if he gives terrorists the rights of Americans, lets them lawyer up and reads them their Miranda rights, we won’t be at war. He seems to think if we bring the mastermind of 9/11 to New York, give him a lawyer and trial in civilian court, we won’t be at war.

Yeah, let’s torture (or kill, as May says) all the arrested suspects. Isn’t that what Hitler did?

And sure, Obama is pretending we’re not at war — that’s why he escalated both wars and has authorized multiple attacks in Pakistan.

And while this is happening, the House passes a bill that guarantees $4 trillions to the big banks. The GOP, supposedly being “conservative”, should be talking about it. But that’s not its message.

Its message is “ooh, he took 3 takes to answer”. The worst part is that their adored leader Bush took 6 days to answer the shoebomber incident.

  1. If they’re flying USAIRWAYS they don’t need to bomb in 20 minutes. They’ll be waiting a LOT longer than that for the luggage. Oh, and the “priority” luggage tag? I doesn’t mean a fucking thing.

“And while this is happening, the House passes a bill that guarantees $4 trillions to the big banks. The GOP, supposedly being “conservative”, should be talking about it. But that’s not its message.”

I think that one got slipped through by Barney Frank unread hidden in a paragraph or two in a bunch of other stuff.

However it doesn’t matter what the Republicans oppose as long as the Democrats vote for it. They have the numbers to pass anything they want and they have a well established track record for voting for things they’ve never read.

The last truth is the Republicans don’t even have a media outlet. Fox isn’t Republican. It’s conservative and libertarian as best I can figure out. The lame media isn’t going to give the Republicans anything but bad press. The talk show hosts all appear to identify themselves as conservatives or something else. Only a few will rarely call themselves Republicans. In many ways the party is about dead.

I’m not sure if it died of suicide or if we the people killed it but at best the Republican party is a zombie. It needs some spokesmen with an agenda and media access and even if it had the first two I still don’t see any way for it to get much media access.

  3. Dallas says:

I like the above GOP distress signal!

Now that Rush’s hospitalization turned out to be simply a stick lodged in his ass, is the elephant back on it’s feet?

  4. birddog says:

State of both parties greedy bastards that dont give a fuck about you.

  5. deowll says:

#4 You shouldn’t talk about Rush like that. He’s lost weight. For all I know you may be fatter than he is.

He is a one of many who describe themselves as a conservative rather than a Republican most of the time. That being the case I’m not sure why anyone with a working brain would say he’s a spokes person for the Republican Party.

Of course not everyone saying that has a working brain or is interested in the truth.

  6. qb says:

Hmmm. Cheney seems to think that Obama is the enemy and not the violent and radical religious fundamentalists.

  7. Bob says:

So a liberal is declaring the republican party dead?

Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night buddy, just keep on believing that.

  8. qb says:

    Cherman’s a liberal? ROTFL

  9. deowll says:

#7 What got Cheney started on Obama was Obama mouth. Instead of saying the buck stops here like Turman did Obama prefers to say. I know it was stupid but it’s all because of Bush/Cheney. He’s still doing it long after he should have stopped doing it. He’s the coach. It’s up to him to find a way to win.

If he hasn’t got the stomach for the job he should have done what Palin did and resigned.

  10. Cursor_ says:

    #7 deowll

McCain would have said the same things if he had won.

We was against the Bush policies long before Obama. He simply would say the exact same thing.

There is no little difference between one career plutocrat and the next.

    Or – Pass the Following:

    A. Two Six year Senate terms
    B. Six Two year House terms

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    2. No Tenure / No Pension:

A congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security:

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund moves to the Social Security system immediately.. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, Congress participates with the American people.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, server your term(s), then go home and back to work.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, serve your term(s), then go home and back to work.

    5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

  12. bobbo, the tell of the immature pundit says:

“Isn’t that what Hitler did?” /// He also made the trains run on time but “Hitler” is all about much more than that.

Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

  13. Ah_Yea says:

    Bobbo for President!!

I would vote for you if you actually could pass you proposals.

BTW, about Cheney. His job now is to keep spewing bad press about Obama.

This can only help the GOP. Truth or reality has nothing to do with it.

  14. bobbo, a scholar of the mob mentality says:

#15–Ah Yea==what did I ever do to YOU!!!

  15. Winston says:

The GOP isn’t dead (unfortunately). Since our mostly ignorant voters bounce back and forth between two equally corrupt, bought and paid for and otherwise useless (except to their cronies) major parties, the GOP will be back in 2010 because of the horrible economy for which both parties are equally responsible. If they have really good luck, the second crash will occur before they enter office. If not, it’ll happen on their watch and they’ll lose in 2012.

Never underestimate the intelligence of the American voter.

  16. Ah_Yea says:

    Bobbo #16,

LOL! Sorry, I lost my mind for a minute…

  17. bobbo, a scholar of the mob mentality says:

Not to take anything away from HL Mencken but “Never expect intelligence from the American voter.”

Ah Yea, – blame the egg nog.

  18. The Warden says:

    Cherman,

You might want to get some Charmin to wipe the crap off your hands that you like to throw around. It’s quite pathetic you use a sarcastic blog post to broadly paint the GOP. Typical of a deranged lefty like yourself.

  19. Cherman says:

    #3, Fox News isn’t republican? C’mon.

    #8, I’m not a liberal.

    #9, yeah. I’m neither.

    #11, agreed.

#12, so why not torture every single arrested person? Or better, everyone?

    #14, it was a joke.

#21, read my posts and you’ll know what I really think about it.

  20. bob says:

Well, Cherman, I’ll take your word for it that you’re not scoring an ideologically motivated cheap shot against the GOP here, but if not I’m confused.

The examples provided are indicative of… nothing. The content, humorous or otherwise, of your post was… nothing.

It’s reasonable to assume you’re a lefty because of the above two points- if it walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck…

So what was the point? Just a great big cup of fail?

  21. gquaglia says:

Fortunately the left wing loonies on this blog don’t decide the future of politics in this country. GOP lost big because, not because they were republicans, but because of George Bush. We’ll see how well the Dems fare in the mid terms. Somehow, all Barry’s talk of hope and change will be seen as what it was BS.

  22. right says:

    Bush/Cheney/Rice etc = Jail

  23. Cap'nKangaroo says:

Cherman, when you joined DU, the left was yelling at you saying you were so far to the right. Now the right is yelling at you saying you are a lefty. We in the vast middle say p*ss them both off.

  24. Obamaforever says:

    From: Obamaforever
    To: bobbo per #13

Could you tell me how your hypothetical congressman (i.e. 12 years maximum term/no tenure/no pension/participate in Social Security/no pay raise/same health care system as the American people, etc.) would not be up to mischief?

Your congressman has little to lose if she/he wants to hurt the American people. You can do a lot of hurting in 12 years.

    bobbo, remember greed trumps everything!!!!!!

  25. LOWER CASE SCREEN NAME says:

Progressives infiltrated the Republican party and harmed it greatly. Progressives in the Democratic party are harming it greatly. Progressives, in general, harm America greatly.

#13 – One of your best posts.

  26. Cherman says:

#23, The examples provided indicated that the GOP has become a party of whiny pro-torture people instead of conservatives.

    #24, agreed.

    #27, I’m not in the middle. I’m pro-liberty, that’s it.

  27. Obamaforever says:

    From: Obamaforever
To: LOWER CASE SCREEN NAME (aka I could not think of anything else.) per #29

Don’t look now, but there is a progressive under your bed.

sceenie, please give an example(s) of how the progressives are harming America. You may want to loosen your straitjacket first. You will be more comfortable.

  28. Dallas says:

#6 You shouldn’t talk about Rush like that. He’s lost weight. For all I know you may be fatter than he is.

I never stated anything about his weight. Are you seeing things? Lay off the eggnog, it’s over.

  29. Mr. Fusion says:

The Republican Party is self imploding.

Rush Limbaugh? Ya right, he told everyone HE lead the right and yes, the Republicans fell to their knees in worship.

Sarah Palin? Yup, garnering the largest amount of support amoung the rank and file Republican. A quitter that can see Russia from her veranda and can’t remember what newspapers she reads. Who preaches abstinence while her daughter is pregnant with her second out of wedlock child.

Michael Steele? He could be a leader if he didn’t have Limbaugh’s zipper marks on his lips.

John Boehner? Ya right. He’ll say anything without regard to the veracity. He causes porcine fecal matter to be respected.

Bush or Cheney? Who had the worst approval ratings leaving office is no contest. Cheney doesn’t know enough to shut his mouth and just allow history to judge him.

The Republican part has no leadership. Various factions, are all making their power plays. The tea baggers are pushing the moderates away. The Republican center is no more.

  30. Mr. Fusion says:

    #6, doill,

#4 You shouldn’t talk about Rush like that. He’s lost weight. For all I know you may be fatter than he is.

This is why the Republicans are self imploding. It is their obsession with physical appearances over substance. Like the rest of the right, when confronted by the truth, they revert to lies, bullshit, and just plain making it up.
