CBS News reports:

Jasper Schuringa, a director from Amsterdam, has been identified as the passenger who helped subdue an alleged terrorist as he tried to detonate explosives on board Northwest Airlines flight 253.

A high-ranking law enforcement official told CBS News that the suspect, identified by multiple sources as 23-year-old Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab apparently used a syringe to inject a chemical into powder located near his groin, a technique not seen in previous attempted attacks.

  1. Can you believe this Nigerian smuggled PETN on the plane and I get bitched at for bring gin in the fucking holy water bottles.

    /WTF?

  2. Ah_Yea says:

Now let’s make sure all diabetics can’t fly.

BTW, after reading up on this, it’s apparent that the bomb was bungled. It fizzed but didn’t explode. Otherwise, this would be a very different story.

  3. Faxon says:

    Farouk Abdulmutallab.
Uh, be sure not to profile this guy, OK?
We don’t want to seem like racists.

  4. Faxon says:

And now we find he is a known terrorist suspect. How about this: Muslims ride camels instead of airliners from now on?

  5. EdB says:

Watch for it: TSA will put Schuringa on their no-fly list.

  6. Nappy Headed Ho says:

I just stopped by to point out the fact that he is a knee grow.

  7. soundwash says:

How convenient, a filmmaker on board. Someone who’s profession is to promote fantasy as reality. Perhaps, we will soon see a movie that depicts an “accurate account” of the heroic actions to subdue, what will probably turn out in reality, to be a guy trying to give himself an insulin shot.

In the short term however, a tailor made event to facilitate “new extensive cavity searches for all!!”

    Merry X-mas!

-Don’t forget to drink your Kool-Aid. The government sponsored fantasy you “believe” is Reality depends on it.

The choice, as always, is yours to make.

  8. Alan Smithee says:

    hey soundwash

    got a problem with filmmakers?

  9. deowll says:

There does seem to have been enough data that this man should have been given a body search.

The actions taken after the fact seem to amount to doing something to comfort the ignorant rather than doing something useful.

It appears that the politically correct faction of the government continues to be a major risk factor for Americans. The same thinking that allowed Fort Hood to occur seems to be alive and well.

Of course the ruling elite all flying non commercial at tax payer expense.

The last guy I sat next to on a plane could have blown it sky high by lighting his farts.

  11. Norman Speight says:

    Excuse me!
A SYRINGE didn’t show up on an airport security X-Ray?
    Or was the watcher half-asleep?
Now the TSA can show how efficient they are by stepping up rudeness to the innocent.
Calls to mind that comment by a Muslim no less.
“All Muslims are not terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims.”
I would have thought that closer attention to certain people (rather than ALL people) would be more likely to produce results.
But then, we must show that we do not discriminate mustn’t we?
Interesting that we don’t suffer all this hostility from people claiming to protect us, when travelling on trains isn’t it – and trains carry more people than planes.
Also. What ever happened to that New Zealand cheapo gadget that smelt out just about every type of explosive material? I do know it’s still made. Why isn’t that used?
Seems that TSA chemistry is going backwards whilst terrorist chemistry is getting more sophisticated.

  12. LOWER CASE SCREEN NAME says:

This is has made it tough to fly if you’re a liquid salesman. How do you get your sample case on board?

  13. Mason says:

Very well done post. It has been very difficult for me to find anything good on this topic. thanks.
