It has nothing to do with Desie being black, he’s a vampire.
Unreal…A black man is complaining about camera not following him!!!
He needs an optional adapter – mask of a white man.
what thought processes are used to form the phrase “HP is racist”?
Convenience? Ingnorance? Personal feeling that the whole freakin world is out to get him and that anybody/thing/whatever that doesn’t meet his idea of anything is “racist”?
Would this idiot consider me racist for saying this? Probably. But he doesn’t know me.
I don’t for a minute doubt his claim that the camera doesn’t follow him because of his skin color. It’s the knee-jerk racism bitchslap that bothers me.
BTW, Leo Laporte also was having trouble with the facial recognition on his new Dell Latitude Z laptop with somewhat similar facial recognition technology.
I think the technology is not mature and can be hit or miss.
Now if they test more than two people, say a group of 1000 people, 500 white and 500 black the results might be worthwhile.

Satire
Tongue-in-cheek
That’s going to make them just about usless for mug shots then.
Perhaps HP should offer a month’s supply of skin whitening cream? Or perhaps fire a couple of developers, just for the sake of it.
Why is everything in the video mirror imaged?
Many years ago, Panasonic designed a TV with a couple of metal strips as a power switch. Anything mechanical that can be removed from a TV will be one less thing to fail over the years. By touching the 2 metal strips, the resistance of human skin would be detected and a circuit would turn the TV on/off. Pretty cool back in the pre-remote days of yesteryear. Trouble is, a black man’s skin has a much higher resistance than the white engineers in Japan and the TVs would not turn on for black people unless they were very young.
maybe it’s sexist and only following the woman 😉
That’s ok, rap music doesn’t work for most white guys.
RBG
How much code did HP have to wright to distinguish a persons race? Did they get a patent for this feature? Does it also discriminate against Jamaican-Americans?
Camera to Computer : “Oh, Crap! A black man! I don’t want to be stolen! What do I do?”
Computer to Camera : “Don’t move. Maybe he won’t see you.”
It uses contrast and there isn’t much on the man..nothing to see here..
GREAt for white girl PORN..
dejavuyou is an idiot, he can’t tell the guy in the video thinks it’s funny?
OMG!!! HP is run by Nazis…..
LOL!
What about Logitech?
Brother, go in an Asian owned store. The cameras
will follow you like crazy!
But getting real , don’t you think the very
bright background is throwing it off.
Try more then one man ,Michal Jackson all
the way to Wesley Snipes.
White people traditionally steal more laptops with webcams, obviously.
Heck I am a White man and my Lenovo face recognition did not work for me. Its just crap software. If you don’t just sit right and have the right lighting it just does not work! I turned my off!Problem fixed
You suppose the software was developed in China with outsourced programmers?

Wow, the fact that you can’t see that it was clearly meant tongue in cheek says a lot about you. The smiling and laughing and light-hearted tone wasn’t enough for you? To see an angry “knee-jerk” victimized black man in _that_ video is astonishing to me. You’re seeing what you think all black people are like rather than what was actually in front of you. And that, my friend, is racist.
Actually, in their next video, they discover that the camera was set to the Michael Jackson default setting. Never mind.
Wow, photons discriminate against dark skin! Who knew?
This is proof that technology is racist, thus technology cannot be used in any area of government where it can be shown that the technology is violating the law of the land. In this particular case it is clear, the technology is flawed and thus would open up anyone using it to lawsuits.
Could it be that HP just does not like the knee grow?
I think for the camera to work right you have to adjust the *white* balance.
