This is a cute health insurance cartoon and certainly talks in sheep language.
However note that healthcare like clean water, college education and the military is not quite like selling sugared water.
Good post because it shows the REAL problem in tackling this issue – the propaganda.

I would just like to thank Barak O, Nancy P, and Harry R, for doing something that Bush the chimp could never do. Unite the Republican party. I didn’t think Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe ever voted for important legislation with the Republicans. Who knew.
The stuff the left wants to do never works, it just slowly racks up debt and puts you out of business until one day you wake up and everyone including the government is bankrupt. I know I live in California.
It showed the lemonade as being exactly the same whether or not it is private sector or public option. In the real world the government incompetence would make the government option lemonade really yucky and customers would pay more for better private lemonade. The problem with health care is you can not easily switch. If you are on the government option, you are stuck.
Maybe you want to stop referring to Presidential leaders as chimps. What if you later get upset with the sitting President? People will call you a racist.

I think we should also privatize Police and Fire. The private sector can do it better, cheaper and more efficiently. But, if you can’t afford to pay the premiums, they let your house burn to the ground.
In any case, I think I’m done with this site. I’m all for a good debate using logic and facts. But, the past month or so, it’s just been a constant stream of baseless propaganda. In the language that scares conservatives the most, I say…Adios

We are the wealthiest nation in the world and we can’t provide a basic level of guaranteed health-care to every citizen because some people are worried it might take away from the profits of some private companies? What a joke.

#15 Social Security. It has very low administrative overhead. If it was run by private companies, like health care is now, they’d take a big cut for their profit and it would be much more expensive, like health care is now.
And the way the private insurance industry “competes” is to charge you a quarter to take a piss and then sells lemonade for $0.50.
Why don’t we do the same thing with roads… Privatize them so that each and every road is a toll road, and some greedy corporation is making money on it.
There’s a federal program that works and saves taxpayers money. How would you like the “tax” of paying a toll to a private company each time you drove to work, or the store, or anywhere for that matter?
That vid is a huge load of bovine fecal matter!
As far as I’m concerned, a corporation should not be permitted to make a killing on a person’s suffering, aka health care. It’s okay if they just want to make a decent living, but some of these execs are making millions, not to mention the lobbyists, who are doling out millions to many RepubliCONs, and the likes of Joe LIEberman.
Why people buy into this garbage that the Cons are pushing is beyond me. They keep telling people that government can do no good, and they are going to prove it if they are elected. It’s like someone saying that they can’t fix your car, and you hiring them for the job? Would you do that? I don’t think so.

How abut public school? Did you do that? Do you think there should be private schools only. The better ones cost more money than the bad one?

Its a false dichotomy anyway Phydeau. The choise is not “save money” or “dont do it.” There are things that society needs that are not profitable. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do them.
Fire, schools, military, roads,and police don’t “save the taxpayers money” either.

You don’t need an false analogy. Just look at the rest of the industrialized world. Through a public option they provide better health care on average (as measure by life expectancy), to everybody, for less (generally less than half the cost for the average US citizen).
Moreover they also have private health services, that if you wish you can join, for a nicer room, etc. And they make money! Look choice, efficiency, securitiy and simplicity.
That’s the reality. Somehow the cartoon doesn’t relate to actual measurable and existing reality. So at best its just straight wrong.
People… the United States is a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. But be glad of that too!
You don’t WANT a direct democracy… the REAL definition of that. Nothing gets done. Power by the people… It’s what they have in California to a degree whereby nothing gets done since so much is based on propositions.
It’s silly to even call it the “Democratic” party. The two parties should really have been called the Conservative and Liberal parties or something along those lines. The “Left of Center Party” and the “Right of Center Party”? The “Wimp Party” and the “Tea Party”?

In my opinion the Health Care bill is two
thousand pages of loopholes for the health
care insurance companies.
Howard Dean was right when he said that
the bill will cause the insurance companies
to raise their premiums and do little else.
You say that the bill will “make” the insurance
compete with one another–dream on sweet prince. They will not compete because they do not know how to compete. And why is this. Because of the simple fact that they have never had to in the past.
The best we can hope from the goddamn
insurance companies is that they drag their
feet. If they pretend to follow what is in the
bill the health care premiums will go up 400%
in the next 8 years. If they drag their feet the premiums will “only” go up a mere 200%
like it has happen in the past. The companies
cannot lose-400% or 200%!!!!
You may have wondered why you have not
heard much from the insurance companies.
Well, they know that they are living on
borrowed time. They know if the bill does not
pass their industry will implode in ten years
or less. If the bill passes, a good part of the bill will not be enacted for three or four years. Thus, instead of the implosion in ten years the insurance will have fourteen years–four more years to soak the public.
By now you may think that I do not want
the bill to pass. You would be wrong. I
want the bill to pass for two reasons:
1.The public will get to see how despicable the
health care insurance companies really are.
Just look at what the credit card companies are
doing now to get a good idea what the
insurance companies will be doing if the
bill passes.
2. If the bill passes it may make it
possible for someone who cannot
get insurance now (i.e. pre-existing
condition) to get insurance–if the
person can afford the goddamn
premiums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other words, something is better than
nothing–I guess.
