1. Dallas says:

This is a cute health insurance cartoon and certainly talks in sheep language.

However note that healthcare like clean water, college education and the military is not quite like selling sugared water.

Good post because it shows the REAL problem in tackling this issue – the propaganda.

  2. Widgethead says:

Oh. Thank goodness it is not another global warming post.

  3. bumrocky says:

So simple, even a liberal can understand and ignore!

  4. Going Postal says:

Exactly how the US Post Office ran UPS and FedEx out of business… oh wait.

  5. smittybc says:

I would just like to thank Barak O, Nancy P, and Harry R, for doing something that Bush the chimp could never do. Unite the Republican party. I didn’t think Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe ever voted for important legislation with the Republicans. Who knew.

The stuff the left wants to do never works, it just slowly racks up debt and puts you out of business until one day you wake up and everyone including the government is bankrupt. I know I live in California.

  6. Benjamin says:

It showed the lemonade as being exactly the same whether or not it is private sector or public option. In the real world the government incompetence would make the government option lemonade really yucky and customers would pay more for better private lemonade. The problem with health care is you can not easily switch. If you are on the government option, you are stuck.

  7. Benjamin says:

Maybe you want to stop referring to Presidential leaders as chimps. What if you later get upset with the sitting President? People will call you a racist.

“I would just like to thank Barak O, Nancy P, and Harry R, for doing something that Bush the chimp could never do.”

  8. ScotterOtter says:

I think we should also privatize Police and Fire. The private sector can do it better, cheaper and more efficiently. But, if you can’t afford to pay the premiums, they let your house burn to the ground.

In any case, I think I’m done with this site. I’m all for a good debate using logic and facts. But, the past month or so, it’s just been a constant stream of baseless propaganda. In the language that scares conservatives the most, I say…Adios

  9. a says:

If you are on the government option, you are stuck.

And all those that are, would kill you if you try to take it away from them…

“I don’t want no stinking public option, but don’t touch my medicare … ”

  10. Rufus says:

Lame…. We don’t have capitalism in America, we have what Mussolini called fascism: the merging of corporations and state.

  11. jmrouse says:

We are the wealthiest nation in the world and we can’t provide a basic level of guaranteed health-care to every citizen because some people are worried it might take away from the profits of some private companies? What a joke.

  12. Phydeau says:

    #11 D’oh, Rufus, you’re right. Fascism.

  13. jescott418 says:

Can anybody tell me a government associated program that works and saves taxpayer’s money?
    Anybody?

  14. Phydeau says:

#15 Social Security. It has very low administrative overhead. If it was run by private companies, like health care is now, they’d take a big cut for their profit and it would be much more expensive, like health care is now.

  15. tcc3 says:

And the way the private insurance industry “competes” is to charge you a quarter to take a piss and then sells lemonade for $0.50.

  16. Rabble Rouser says:

Why don’t we do the same thing with roads… Privatize them so that each and every road is a toll road, and some greedy corporation is making money on it.
There’s a federal program that works and saves taxpayers money. How would you like the “tax” of paying a toll to a private company each time you drove to work, or the store, or anywhere for that matter?

That vid is a huge load of bovine fecal matter!

As far as I’m concerned, a corporation should not be permitted to make a killing on a person’s suffering, aka health care. It’s okay if they just want to make a decent living, but some of these execs are making millions, not to mention the lobbyists, who are doling out millions to many RepubliCONs, and the likes of Joe LIEberman.

Why people buy into this garbage that the Cons are pushing is beyond me. They keep telling people that government can do no good, and they are going to prove it if they are elected. It’s like someone saying that they can’t fix your car, and you hiring them for the job? Would you do that? I don’t think so.

  17. Dallas says:

    #15 Good question!

What college did you go to? State or private? Maybe I shouldn’t jump to conclusions about you attending any college.

How abut public school? Did you do that? Do you think there should be private schools only. The better ones cost more money than the bad one?

How about privatizing clean water? Maybe. What happens when you cheap neighbor gets malaria from that penny a gallon water? Now your fucked because you have to spend even more money on the health side. It’s a vicious circle I tell ya.

  18. tcc3 says:

Its a false dichotomy anyway Phydeau. The choise is not “save money” or “dont do it.” There are things that society needs that are not profitable. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do them.

Fire, schools, military, roads, and police don’t “save the taxpayers money” either.

  19. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

#5 smittybc…the GOP is united? Really?

  20. stopher2475 says:

They left out the part where the little girl pays off the congressman to pass a law where they throw you in jail if you don’t buy a glass of her lemonade for $1000.

  21. Phydeau says:

#20 You’re absolutely right, some things need to be done whether or not they’re “profitable”.

#22 twitterpedro Blurp! Dwap! Snarg! little pedro vomits up another twitterfest 🙂

  22. Wretched Gnu says:

Cherman, my lad… do you understand that insurance companies have monopolies in most states?

No, you didn’t know that. Otherwise you wouldn’t have wasted your time and ours with your embarrassing dilettante’s knowledge of the issues…

  23. Phydeau says:

#26 little pedro, if you ever come up with coherent question, I’ll be glad to answer it. 🙂

  24. Named says:

    22 pedro,

Mussolini was a commie? When? Before of after you woke up from you daydream?

He was a fascist, and he was always a fascist. Along with logic and intelligence, you don’t know shit about history… or politics. In fact, you’re just wasting space…

  25. freddybobs68k says:

Yep – load of old rubbish.

You don’t need an false analogy. Just look at the rest of the industrialized world. Through a public option they provide better health care on average (as measure by life expectancy), to everybody, for less (generally less than half the cost for the average US citizen).

Moreover they also have private health services, that if you wish you can join, for a nicer room, etc. And they make money! Look choice, efficiency, securitiy and simplicity.

That’s the reality. Somehow the cartoon doesn’t relate to actual measurable and existing reality. So at best its just straight wrong.

  26. It'sNotLupus! says:

People… the United States is a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. But be glad of that too!

You don’t WANT a direct democracy… the REAL definition of that. Nothing gets done. Power by the people… It’s what they have in California to a degree whereby nothing gets done since so much is based on propositions.

It’s silly to even call it the “Democratic” party. The two parties should really have been called the Conservative and Liberal parties or something along those lines. The “Left of Center Party” and the “Right of Center Party”? The “Wimp Party” and the “Tea Party”?

    I like those last two!

  27. Obamaforever says:

    From: Obamaforever

To: all anti-Heath Care Reform Retards

    To: Cherman

    First things first.

Cherman, you have your head so far up
Dvorak’s ass you do not know what year
    it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Unbelievable, besides the anti-Climate Change
Retards on this blog we now have the anti-
Health Care Reform Retards polluting this blog
with their inanities. I guess I should not be
surprised. I am thinking if you have your
head up your ass on one subject it is not difficult to have your head up your ass on a different subject.

    Isn’t that right, pedro.

In my opinion the Health Care bill is two
thousand pages of loopholes for the health
    care insurance companies.

Howard Dean was right when he said that
the bill will cause the insurance companies
to raise their premiums and do little else.
You say that the bill will “make” the insurance
compete with one another–dream on sweet prince. They will not compete because they do not know how to compete. And why is this. Because of the simple fact that they have never had to in the past.

The best we can hope from the goddamn
insurance companies is that they drag their
feet. If they pretend to follow what is in the
bill the health care premiums will go up 400%
in the next 8 years. If they drag their feet the premiums will “only” go up a mere 200%
like it has happen in the past. The companies
    cannot lose-400% or 200%!!!!

You may have wondered why you have not
heard much from the insurance companies.
Well, they know that they are living on
borrowed time. They know if the bill does not
pass their industry will implode in ten years
or less. If the bill passes, a good part of the bill will not be enacted for three or four years. Thus, instead of the implosion in ten years the insurance will have fourteen years–four more years to soak the public.

By now you may think that I do not want
the bill to pass. You would be wrong. I
want the bill to pass for two reasons:

1.The public will get to see how despicable the
health care insurance companies really are.
Just look at what the credit card companies are
doing now to get a good idea what the
insurance companies will be doing if the
    bill passes.

    2. If the bill passes it may make it
    possible for someone who cannot
    get insurance now (i.e. pre-existing
    condition) to get insurance–if the
    person can afford the goddamn
    premiums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In other words, something is better than
    nothing–I guess.

    And last.

pedro and all the other anti-Health Care
Reform Retards, listen up. Please do not
get sick from the head down. You say how
about from the head up. I say your diseased
    brains are too far gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Obamaforever says:

    From: Obamaforever

    To: all

To: pedro (aka King of the Retards)

I want everybody to take it easy on poor
pedro. The reason he knows little about
history is because he is too busy clearing-up
after his goat, donkey, and mule.

pedro, spend more time on research and less
time being the King of the Retards.

  29. Derek says:

The only reason we are the richest nation in the world is because, up until now, we allowed you to reap the rewards of your own hard labor. Now, America seems to be of the mind that everyone else deserves the rewards of your own hard labor. You want good health care coverage? Learn a trade, get a career, and get a job that provides it. That, or live off charity your whole life. At no point should I ever be responsible for your well being. I provide for my family, not your.

  30. Mr. Fusion says:

Some jerk posts a cartoon and somehow this is indicative of something. I think it was Dallas who correctly pointed out it is only propaganda. Fall the shit if you will.

    Mr. Obamaforver,

Cherman and pedro are the same person. I hate to say it, but, their antics make for a great argument against anonymity online.
