We’re probably going to start seeing more creative designs as flexible displays and new technologies become available.

Orkin-Design

The device of the flexible display allows a new concept in notebook design growing out of the traditional bookformed laptop into unfurling and convolving portable computer.
By virtue of the OLED-Display technology and a multi touch screen the utility of a laptop computer with its weight of a mini-notebook and screen size of 13 inch easily transforms into the graphics tablet, which with its 17-inch flat screen can be also used as a primary monitor.

On top of everything else all computer utilities from power supply through the holding belt to an interactive pen are integrated in Rolltop. This is really an all-in-one gadget.

Sweet laptop. Not having a real keyboard would be awkward though, could lead to a repetitive stress injury.

On a different note, turns of Warren Buffet made a $5 billion investment in Goldman Sachs before it got bailed out. Isn’t that insider trading?

  2. duh365 says:

Cool concept. Just hope we don’t walk like that in the future.

  3. Improbus says:

I bet it makes phone calls as well. The concept will probably be obsolete before it hits the market. I would buy one now if they could produce it.

  4. Dallas says:

    Nice ass

  5. amodedoma says:

Flexible screens are gonna be really big in wearable PC’s. A flexible touch screen on one cuff and keyboard on the other.

  6. Canuck Bud says:

The only problem I see with the unit is portability. There’s no way I’d advertise I’m carrying an expensive computer like that. It gives a whole new meaning to purse snatching.

  7. Animby says:

    More pie in the sky?
Hell, I’m still waiting for the flying car they promised me in the 50s.

  8. deowll says:

Anything that comes off gets lost.

How many time does this thing bend?

  9. Uncle Patso says:

Quite well done, that guy deserves his diploma. No good for any serious typing, of course, but usable for most other things. If needed, there are lots of halfway decent USB keyboards. It’s quite impractical given the current state of the technology, and if the technology were developed, they would probably cost too much, but it is a lovely design.

  10. Alex says:

    Wireless power supply … ?

  11. John E. Quantum says:

I’ll use it with my Pomegranate phone

  12. Cursor_ says:

    Why even bother?

This thing is a like those old LS-120 floppy drives.
    A bridge technology.

The real grail is a device the size of a mobile, with projection display and keyboard, uses gestures to replace the mouse, has wireless connectivity to other units and to the web.

We already have many devices that can do some of these things, make it work well, keep it simple and the only thing you could lose would be the entire unit.

  13. The Monster's Lawyer says:

#7 Nimbo – Your still waiting? The rest of us have had our flying cars for decades now. Where the hell have you been?

  14. The0ne says:

1st generation. Looks too bulky to me 🙂 Seriously, can’t wait til this thing hits mass market! Yes, I know it’s a ways off…

  15. ElijahElliott says:

#7 Nimbo, The Monster’s Lawyer is right. They’ve been around for years. Vertical take off & land, seats 4, runs on ethanol, goes over 350 MPH with a per-fill up range of 750 miles and gets better than 20 MPG at ideal cruising speed.

Oh, and it still fits in a standard garage.

  16. mamarehab says:

Some of us have a hard time with the minitechnology – I would love something portable but not bulky that would give me full size display and full size keyboard. Elder eyes and arthritic hands can really inhibit computer use.

  17. JF says:

A perfect example of the old adage, “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should”

  18. Fanlarm says:

#13 We’ve been learning grammar and spelling!

  19. TheOriginalPol says:

    Hahahaha nice, Fanlarm.
