“Death to America”
Sounds Bad.
Saw a report from an American Reporter stationed in Iran. He commented he was in a taxi to his airport in Tehran and they ran into a traffic jam. His driver yelled out “Death to Traffic Jams.” The reporter asked him what he meant and the driver said in essence “Death to WHATEVER” meant that the speaker didn’t like the subject being addressed.
Words can be translated perfectly and the meaning lost completely.
Even in one’s own native language.
I still “wonder” if that story is true, how generally true in Iran it is, and what truth means.
friggin kids and their comedy central links
Pedro==right you are.
OK Zorkor===your time to shine. Let the heathens know.
As a native Colbertarian I’ve got to agree. Bring back the good old days when “Death to America” meant something.
