Crucify

RIYADH (Reuters) – A Saudi court of cassation upheld a ruling to behead and crucify a 22-year-old man convicted of raping five children and leaving one of them to die in the desert, newspapers reported on Tuesday.

The convict was arrested earlier this year after a seven-year old boy helped police in their investigation. The child left in the desert after the rape was three years old, Okaz newspaper said.

International rights groups have accused the kingdom, the birthplace of Islam, of applying draconian justice, beheading murderers, rapists and drug traffickers in public. So far this year about 40 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia.

In Saudi Arabia, crucifixion means tying the body of the convict to wooden beams to be displayed to the public after beheading.

Or will they behead then crucify? That would seem pointless.

I’ll be the first to say we need this here. It’s quick and/or painful, whichever order it goes 🙂

  2. ECA says:

    lets see..
Cost of keeping ONE of these people ALIVE and well in prison??
    $40-60,000 EACH per year.
SICK, ILL, cancer, kidney problems, what EVER makes the cost even MORE..
20 years in prison?? 20x 60k..1,200,000 per PERSON..
ANd that over 40% of those in jail are on drug charges.

  3. madtruckman says:

sounds like a perfect punishment for that crime. bet he wont do that again…..

  4. Brian says:

I am proud of this group for a change. I always look at story and try and guess how many posts it will take to start a right vs left debate. I thought maybe 1 or 2. Not this time.

    Oh and yes, behead him.

  5. doobiedean says:

Good for them. We should have such penalties in the US.

  6. Internet anonymity for the win! says:

We definitely need harsher punishments. But unfortunately human rights people are just as bad and PETA….

I think once a severe crime is committed (ie murder rape, etc…), they lost all their rights, including being human…

  7. cornholer says:

    Excellent!

  8. Mikey Twit says:

Tell me if you were the father of one of those children, you wouldn’t be first in line to do the deeds yourself! And spare me the “2 wrongs don’t make a right” or “revenge never solves anything” crap! When it comes to protecting/avenging our children, parents can dig up rage and vengeance that a Jihadist can only dream of.

  9. Improbus says:

Wow, this makes Texans look like a bunch of soft heart’d liberals.

  10. soundwash says:

As long as the trial/evidence is done in a public forum and (empirically) proven, more power to them. (and within one year max.

(none of these 10 year endless (politically motivated) appeal jobs)

some crimes, especially rape should result in this penalty.

no “we can fix’em with 20 years of psychoanalysis/rehab crap”

  11. spsffan says:

It reminds me of the old story about when Winston Churchill was informed that his Mother-in-law had died. When asked whether her body should be cremated or buried, he replied: “Both, we’ll take no chances!”

I’m rather partial to the guillotine myself. Crucifiction has too many religious overtones.

  12. sargasso says:

They also ban bacon, liquor, women drivers, bibles, evangelicals. They publicly flog women who are victims of rape. They have camel beauty pageants. Sounds just like Texas to me.

  13. ArtSpot says:

Yes, I’m all for beheading child rapist.

The problem I have with this story is the system is not always infallible. Let’s say a judge covets your wife and say your wife isn’t all that opposed to the judge’s advances. And let’s say the judge convinces a kid to accuse you of raping and nearly killing him. And let’s say the defender wants to be a judge one day and needs the judge’s blessing. And let’s say you are in a country where there is limited opposition to authority. Sounds like you could be very screwed.

Yes, this scenario is based on a lot of assumptions, but I would rather everyone be sure that they are killing the right person. I for one am glad I live in a country where I have rights against mob mentality (mobs are relatively dumb).

  14. brm says:

Can’t we just use a single bullet? This seems like a waste of taxpayer money.

  15. Breetai says:

I prefer donating selling the organs with proceeds going to the victims family. But make sure he lives as long as possible while his organs are being removed.

  16. The0ne says:

    #16 Breetai

Hmm, I should have thought of that. Interesting. Tons of things I could use from his body. Bone marrow, a left and arm (for my disabled Father of course), my the eyes if they have good vision, the skin for a rug, his penis as a bird stand, etc.

  17. Brian says:

#13. Never been to Texas I see. That or you are just an idiot

  18. ubiquitous talking head says:

For the record, it’s behead first, crucify second.

What’s the in the road? A head?

  19. bill says:

Please someone put up a UTUBE video.

We (in the ‘civilized’ part of the world) have only to play this on FOX TV 24×7 as an example of what we will do to you if you commit a similar crime.

    Right?

  20. Mr. Fusion says:

The Saudis are doing the nasty because he raped boys. If it was little girls then he would never have even been charged.

  21. MikeN says:

Somebody needs to tell the Saudis that the death penalty is not a deterrent. Crucifying him and killing him won’t stop him from raping again.

  22. Dallas says:

#21 good point Fusion. The double standard exists there in spades. Still a horrible crime when it involves children.

Will the Saudi’s be outsourcing the torture to take place in Cheney’s ranch?

  23. sargasso says:

    #18. correct on all accounts.

  24. raster says:

Just can have a good crucifixion these days:

“yeah, I know the way, out the door, line on the left, 1 cross each”

  25. jk says:

why didn’t they do it to mohammed?……..oh wait

  26. N74JW says:

IF this guy is guilty, what’s the problem? Beats paying $45,000 to $50,000 per year to house him in prison.

  27. wirelessg says:

When did Jon Gosselin get crucified? (see pic)

  28. Glass Half Full says:

If the guy is guilty (and I don’t know how ‘solid’ the Saudi justice system is) then it’s morally deserved. But I keep wondering, who would Jesus crucify?

In America, Jesus believes in guns, the death penalty and torture. But the “American Jesus”(tm) has nothing to do with the Bible or actual New Testament direct quotes from god/Jesus…it’s kind of a action hero comic book version of Jesus.

  29. Jägermeister says:

Who would have known… Jesus came back a child molester… Up on the cross again, you fucker!!

  30. Santa Maria says:

This should be applied to the three strikes law. Three parking tickets and poof: off you go carrying the cross!

    So much fun!
