Ah the days when men were men. No seat belts on this baby…after a head on collision you’d just hose off the dashboard and sell it to the next guy.
O! My! A 1965 Pontiac Bonneville. My grandfather had one, which I got to drive a bit when I was a very young man. Pass anything but a gas station that car would. And in a silent, slinky style unimaginable today.

First time I changed spark plugs was on a Bonneville. You could literally sit inside the engine well and do the whole job without getting out.
Not to mention the good ‘ol GTO. Even the new goats were pretty good.
I still own a Grand Am. I am gonna miss Pontiac.
My first car was a turquoise 1966 Bonneville convertible. My mom had hopes that I would put the money into restoring the car with original parts and keep it for years. Being an ungrateful 17-year old, I couldn’t wait to get rid of the gas guzzling “boat”. Now, I wish I had the car for our weekend family trips. I think my girls would get a kick out of driving with the top down in a classic car.

What’s with all this automobilistic nostalgia? I mean I like it, but I don’t understand it…
I do feel sorry for kids these days, back in the 60’s and 70’s we had cars with plenty of room to stretch out in. Many a virginity lost in the back seat with Eric Clapton’s ‘Slow Hand’ playing on the 8-track.

I had one of these fine boats with the 421 and 3 speed auto tranny. It would outrun cop cars (and the radio if you knew where to go.)
What a fine automobile. Ahh, the memories.
All that beautiful metal puts today’s plasticars to shame. My second ’68 Chevelle sparkled like that until an (ex)girlfriend rear-ended someone in it. The car was never the same and neither were we.

#5, I think it is a 1966 model, looking at the headlights. On the 1965 models, the Headlights were uneven, that is, the lower high-beams were slightly recessed. On the 1966 Pontiac models, the lower headlights were not recessed.
Also, the license plate in the photo end in 6.
It’s taken me a couple of days to figure our why I liked this picture so much. It finally hit me: the car is cherry red. It’s beautiful.
I was sitting at the stop light today and I noticed that all the cars around me are silver or gray. It’s like an overcast day on the road. Back in 60’s cars where red and yellow and green and even purple. We need more colour in our lives.
