Acer vs. Dell, is a race to make the cheapest. I agree with what Fake Steve Jobs once wrote, that a race to build the cheapest is a race to bankruptcy. They’re trimming margins down, down, down – making it unlikely that they’ll ever see a profit.
Hoax? yes! Reality Tv dad, who didn’t get enough attention from his TWO previous exposures on “Wife Swap”, in which he badly over-acted his a tiffs with his swap wife. This is the kind of crap, Reality Tv encourages. And then national news makes into a huge item for the day (or WEEK!). Meanwhile some real news probably got overlooked. And one wonders if this space case father didn’t have a deal with ABC-Tv, to help boost interest in the upcoming “V” series? It even looked like the flying news cameramen filmed the balloon, making it appear larger than it was. So viewers wouldn’t dismiss it as too small to lift a six year old.
Sooo… the Department of Homeland Security, isn’t going to have an issue with this guy (or Child Protective Services). Like this couldn’t be thought of as a terrorist act. But they’ll toss someone in jail for scaling the side of a building. So UFO Balloon Dad, won’t go to jail for endangering his offspring. And isn’t it nice to see that the Colorado state cops are just as sharp as NEVER, since the JonBenét Ramsey case of 1996.
They make decent machines for people that just want a computer.
I’m not going to pay good money to put w 7 on my Vista machine and as for the older ones I think I’d rather stick ubuntu on it though my net book has two gig of ram and should handle it fine.
I love my Acer One netbook. It’s the computer I’ve been waiting years for, ever since my Tandy 102. Fantastic.
I bought this awesome little Acer netbook at Wally World for about $300. When you go hand-to-hand with the crapware and outfit it with your favorite apps, it’s a wonderful little machine.
ENA is an energy found in intense electromagnetic interactions, as such it’s very useful for studying these interactions in space. The magnetosphere of the earth or other planets could produce this energy in interaction to the suns EM activity. In this case the ribbon is thought to be caused by the interaction of the magnetosphere of the solar system to our galaxy’s magnetic field.

John,
Come on, you “kinda like Windows 7” and believing that it can’t run on older hardware. I hope you’re kidding and that they’re talking about VERY old hardware. I have already updated many PCs (laptops, tablets, desktops) to Windows 7 and they are running great. Let me say that again, great not slow like the crappy Vista OS or the BSOD XP.
Didn’t DU had a bit about a guy putting Windows on a P2 base system? In any case, at least you’re coming about to see that Windows 7 is good enough for use. And yes, I agree that it’s not a leap forward in anything but it’s painless to use and runs fine on OLDER hardware without much need to screw around with out-dated drivers. This alone is God-send.
“Win 7 is not for older machines”
John, can we get your official seal of approval for Ubuntu on said devices? 🙂
Ubuntu 9.10 RC comes out the same day as the Win7 retail release; final release one week later.
