Pfft…global warming…I went outside today and its cold.

    /sarcasm

Alfred1 – “Its a good thing glacial ice is still melting…don’t want to return to the ice age…”

You really are a twat. Really.

  2. Floyd says:

Alfie’s been an ignorant twat for some time. His personal beliefs seem to encourage twatism.

Real question: how to reduce melting, given that we still need petroleum and coal to produce power, warm homes, etc. Atomic energy is an obvious replacement, but too many people are fearful of nuclear plants, despite their safety record.

  3. Awake says:

    OK. Forget global warming.

What is wrong with making sincere efforts to minimize man-made pollution. We go camping, and we try our best to leave the area better than when we got there… why not behave that way overall?

If other countries won’t do it… what do we care… we can take the moral high ground and behave better than them, and take the necessary economic steps (even if it is negative publicity) to encourage them to revise their behavior.

Encourage the use of higher mileage vehicles that pollute less… encourage minimizing waste… encourage the use of on-demand heaters, solar water preheaters, green construction, biodegradable wrappings…

What is so wrong to strive to behave better than the neighbors? Just because the rest of the world behaves like a bunch of inbred rednecks playing banjos doesn’t means that we have to.

I suspect all we can do is reduce pollution and increase energy efficiency as much as humanly possible and hope for the best. Getting a coordinated global response is next to impossible. I feel sorry for our kids who will inherit this monumental cluster-fuck.

  5. iceman says:

This guy is hoping to travel with Gore-y and collect some of those $$$$$$ before the cash cow dies. Big deal, nature is amazing.

  6. FRAGaLOT says:

one boring-ass video.. skip 2/3’s in to actually see the time lapse video. And hit the mute button since that is still rambling on.

  7. cakes says:

#3, People are fearful of nuclear energy because we still don’t have a safe way to store the waste, most of it is “awaiting disposal”.

  8. Hugh Ripper says:

    #4 Stars & Bars

Ahh is the old ‘liberal conspiracy’ theory of global warming. An oldie but a goodie. A great theory because it means you don’t have to do anything. Not even lift a finger. You can just go on polluting and using up energy inefficiently, blame it on the evil liberals and you dont have to do jack shit. Its pure genius.

  9. Lou says:

Get a boat and get over it.

  10. Raff says:

I want to see some pictures of glacial building this winter… its only fair.

Where do you think the money for carbon credits/tax end up?

The technology for 100+ mpg has been around since the 60’s. It has been suppressed by CORPORATE/GOVERNMENT interest.

I’m equal opportunity you cidiot. I hate the Republicans as much as the Democrats.

  12. Stars & Bars says:

#10 – Awake Re: “Awake” Hardly!!!

You need to free your mind from the Main Stream Media CORPORATE/GOVERNMENT conspiracy websites.

  13. Postman says:

Number of coal plants that melted down reducing several industrial cities and several thousand square miles to atomic wasteland: zero

Yep there’s plenty of unscrupulous fellows out there trying to make a buck from global warming / climate change scams.

    Doesn’t mean it ain’t happening.

  15. chuck says:

And… even after we spend a $1 trillion on carbon credits – it won’t make the slightest bit of difference to climate change, because China and India intend to continue business as usual.

  16. jbenson2 says:

Global Warming? It’s already snowing in Colorado.

  17. Stars & Bars says:

    #17 – Huge Ripper

So you’re pushing for a “Static Climate”?

    Re: “unscrupulous fellows”

You don’t have a clue where your money is going!

  18. Mister Ed says:

The deniers still don’t get it. There is big money to be made in conservation. If only the Repug model weren’t solely based on greed.

    >> “You need to free your mind from the Main Stream Media CORPORATE/GOVERNMENT conspiracy websites.”

And instead I should just read Unabomber nutjob type conspiracy sites like you do… NOT!

Face it… you embarrassed yourself when you recommended that site, now you have to live with it.

  20. Hugh Ripper says:

    #20 Stars

I’m pushing for reduction of pollution and increased energy efficiency. That is all.

  21. Jayson says:

#5, fair enough. I agree with your logic.

We should do our best to minimize the impact that we have on the environment? However, I honestly don’t believe man is the primary (or even a moderate) cause for climate change. I think we all should make an effort to reduce carbon emissions and generally contribute to a better environment, but I don’t believe we should be forced into it (as all the global warming propaganda seems to lead to).

Once science gets in the hands of politicians it usually gets twisted and distorted and in the end, we the people lose a little more of our freedom.

  22. sargasso says:

#13. “I want to see some pictures of glacial building this winter… its only fair” – I would very much like to see that, too. But they take hundreds of years to build, in our current cycle. Our hope is for a mini ice age, like the last one that deposited nine miles thick of snow and ice, over two thirds of Asia, Europe and America, in just ten years. It went from a climate a bit warmer than ours (there were elephants, lions and rhinos in England 60,000 years ago), to a 9 mile thick ice sheet, in around 12 years.

  23. eaglescout1998 says:

There’s global warming on Mars too. But that couldn’t be caused by the sun. I blame Bush!

  24. raddad says:

For those equating carbon dioxide with pollution, it isn’t. Without carbon dioxide there would be no life on this planet.

CO2 has risen from about 250 ppm to 350 ppm over the last century. Most of the graphs from the enviro people start at 250 ppm to make the rise seem more scary. This very small amount of CO2 is being blamed for catastrophes large and small.

  25. Hastur says:

There still isn’t a scientist around who claim to be able to tell what the weather will be like ten days from now. But they claim to know what it will be decades away?
It’s not realy a scam it’s more like mass hysteria. And it’s fanned by the fact that the only way for a climatologist to have a career is to get aboard the bandwagon.
I always get wary when everybody agree to much.

#26. The point about global warming on Mars is excellent. What about those irresponsible Martians eh?

  26. interglacialman says:

Global temperatures have been falling since 1998, total global ice volume (arctic and antarctic) has remained flat since we’ve been recording it by satellite in 1979, and despite about $50 billion spent on research, no evidence of CO2 induced global warming has been found.
But none of this matters. They’ve just got to keep the propaganda machine working until 7th December. Once the global cap-and-trade taxes are introduced in Copenhagen they can then do the usual bait-and-switch. A new justification for the punitive taxes on all our activities will be wheeled out – there will be even more money to dole-out to compliant researchers and useful idiots like this guy doing the TED talk.

If the sun doesn’t wake up from the record solar-minimum we are currently in, it is likely we will return to conditions similar to the Dalton Minimum or Little Ice Age. The climate will be tangibly colder for everyone and we will see crop failures and starvation across the world. My guess is population reduction will become the new reason for the Carbon Tax.

  27. Bloggerttytyen says:

Videos shows normal glacial surge. Glacial surges are not driven by climate change.

  28. Elrethiel says:

It is only natural that some people in USA won’t believe in Global Warming since the news channels ignore (purposefully?) any kind of news related to the issue. You can find more news even in the BBC related to the subject. What makes it worst is that even when presented with proves they deny their own reality behind myths and excuses that other people have created to avoid taking action.

  29. r2k2 says:

what’s wrong with your ideas #5? they consume too much energy.

  30. Dr Dodd says:

The only global warming we have to be concerned with is after Iran and friends gets nuclear weapons.

Then you can begin to sweat.
