This guy…

  1. Matt says:

McCain is Obama-lite. Think about how often liberals invoke his name to prove how they agree with the Republicans. He’s no conservative. He couldn’t get back to Washington fast enough to give $700 Billion to Wall Street.

Like HMeyers said, he’s given no indication that he has any guiding principles. Like many Washington insiders he’s quick to abandon conservative principles when it’s politically beneficial.

While Beck may not be the best spokesperson, I believe he does represent the frustration a lot of Americans feel with the politicians in Washington.

Sadly, I think Republicans believe that vilifying the left will automatically get them elected in 2010. There are a lot of conservatives who have no intentions of voting for any of the current crop of Republicans. The GOP is in for a shock in 2010 unless there are wholesale changes at the top. For God’s sake, I live in Texas and both of our Senators fell lock-step in line and voted for TARP. Seeing John Cornyn attempt to speak with any authority on being conservative is laughable at best.

  2. qb says:

Awake, obviously we should be drilling on Titan. Or maybe Memphis? There’s oil under Elvis’ grave.

tc, don’t you know all this happened in ancient history – maybe even the 4th or 5th day of creation?

Gosh darn it, fundamentalists say the darndest things, don’t they?

  3. qb says:

Personally I think Hillary Clinton is more useful in her current role.

  4. MikeN says:

Yea, McCain would have had the Republicans favoring bailouts, amnesty, cap and trade, and bigger deficits.

  5. Benjamin says:

McCain is not a conservative. Since McCain isn’t President, he won’t be blamed for the economy. Obama has both houses of Congress and he still can’t fix the economy. The economy is almost worse. Try to tell me your life is better than it was in 2008.

Now since the Democrats control everything, who gets the blame? The time for blaming the Republicans is over.

  6. Improbus says:

    @Benjamin

Bush and the GOP spent eight years frakking up our country both financially and via shredding the Constitution. It will take the BHO administration longer than a year to fix it.

Since the GOP is still apoplectic about Bill Clinton being president I would say we have at least a decade or more of blaming the Republicans left. Get used to it.

  7. Named says:

“But he wouldn’t have driven investment capital away…threatened it with regulation and higher taxes.

And its possible he might have delayed any cap & trade till the recession was over.

Unlike Obama, he would know the economy is job #1.”

You have a vivid imagicnation. Keep fantasizing…

  8. Dr Dodd says:

#44-Improbus-It will take the BHO administration longer than a year to fix it.

That’s assuming fixing it is Obama’s goal. To date all indicators lean toward the continued destruction of the economy.

Never waste a good crisis – even if you gotta create one.

  9. tc says:

    #40 QB…

You damned heathen, if alfie says it’s so I believe him!

Got my shovel and I’m heading out for some of that oil… carbon… whatever… if my Subaru runs on it I’ll be happy.

  10. tc says:

…and what’s with the site that Alfie linked to?

WND is the acronym for World Nutcase Daily?

    “New data: Maybe oil
    isn’t from dead dinos
    Saturn moon has more hydrocarbons
than all of Earth’s known reserves”

I’m confused, is science not taught in your schools anymore?

  11. Improbus says:

    @tc

Alphie wouldn’t know science if it walked up to his face and bonked him in the nose. Faith and science are incompatible as Alphie so aptly demonstrates.

  12. Cursor_ says:

    You are all so naive.
I cannot believe just how easily blinded you all are.

Neither side is going to change anything as they both feed from the same trough.

They are all plutocrats. NONE of them want to work for us. They get far too much money to placate us with gestures and then pass bills with hidden pork for their corporate masters.

You are being hoodwinked, bamboozled and hypnotised by bait and switch, three-card monte and pig in a poke politics.

WAKE THE FUCK UP! THEY ARE NOT ON YOUR SIDE!

When is the next episode of American Idol on?

  14. Buzz says:

If you tried to direct a consummately talented character actor to play this script for a scene in a movie, and this was the initial delivery, you would have to pull the actor aside and have a little heart-to-heart:

“I liked the energy, but you made him seem like an egoistic buffoon. We’re trying to give this character -some- level of plausibility. Let’s pull that back a bit and throw in some moments of thinking?”

  15. cheapdaddy says:

Beck called shenanigans on the Bush administration. especially the first tax rebates and TARP but that video was on CNN.
I’m sure McCain would have continued the faux conservative policies of GW Bush.
Be careful not to confuse Republicans and conservatives. The GOP savaged a conservative senate candidate in RI to support a marginal candidate who eventually left the party. Now we have a senator who may be to the left of Obama.

  16. right says:

Alfred said – “I take it back…its more likely Beck is being misunderstood”

Remember, Alfred, just a few days ago you said there were 100,000 people at the rally in Washington but your guy here, Beck, said there were 1.7 million from the “I don’t know University”? Wow, what a difference!

That’s a little more than being misunderstood but it’s nice to see both of you are lying, as expected, just not to the same extent.

  17. Named says:

    54 right,

Alfred doesn’t remember anything he’s said. I do enjoy reminding him of his “Martyr” mission to take as many people out as possible though.

Depending on the cycle of his psychosis and drug schedule, you can enjoy vastly different personalities.

    He’s a real find.

  18. Hmeyers says:

    #50 for the megawin

The average federal employee makes $79 K a year and there are 1.8 million civilian federal employees.

There is no cost control in our federal government — we are screwed. Don’t say the Republicans care about costs — they ran the show prior to the last 2 years.

    It’s all talk.

  19. Phydeau says:

Beck’s roots are in crazy AM morning radio. In the past he has said anything he can to get higher ratings. Like he said, he’s a clown. Since Faux is losing money on him because his advertisers have abandoned him, he’ll tone it down a bit. He may express some real fears of real people, but only accidentally.

  20. deowll says:

    # 57 Some people bailed.

However his ratings are sky high.

That means he’s still got eyes and people will pay for eyes. Even people that don’t agree with him. If only to tell you how wrong he is.

At least some people may begin to figure out he’s not a Republican. I’m not sure why so many liberals have a hard time figuring that one out.

  21. LibertyLover says:

#58, At least some people may begin to figure out he’s not a Republican. I’m not sure why so many liberals have a hard time figuring that one out.

Most people can’t seem to think outside the square. It is either Republican or Democrat.

  22. pat says:

Beck’s logic is interesting. He attests McCain would have set back conservative politics for decades by reason his approach to the economy would have been as disastrous. HIs logic: Hillary Clinton would have also been mired in this mess as is Obama. With Democrats in control of everything in Washington blame will fall upon Liberal -Progressive ideas, not conservative.
I made this argument before the election.
One only has to consider the economy tanked AFTER Democrats took control of congress, blocked attempts to reign in things like Freddie and Fannie, “let the dice roll” as Barney Frank said. They allowed mark to market to continue even though evidence clearly shows people like George Soros were using short selling to bring down the system.
Many investors saw this, plus fact Bush tax cuts will be allowed to expire and pulled out.
Voters are also finding out just like most politicians – perhaps more so, they lie as a matter of doing business. Democrats however have added attacks on average Americans to the mix.
It seems Beck’s logic is somewhat accurate. Only time will tell…

  23. Rick Cain says:

The problem wasn’t McCain, it was the idea that McCain might die and leave Sarah Palin in power.

  24. MeMyselfAndI says:

Wow… after reading all the comments posted I am actually concerned for our country. It starts with an educated voter and it is clear by the comments left and our current president, there are not many out there.
