You can think whatever you want about his policies, but Obama is a great motivational speaker. Read the NYT article on this story.

President Obama saturated the television talk shows on Sunday to promote his health care agenda as he seeks to build public support for the plan and allay fears that the government is seeking to take over the nation’s health care system.

The president, appearing in interviews on five television networks, said the health care fight had been more difficult than he anticipated and conceded that he has struggled “breaking through.” He said he remained confident he would sign a health care bill into law and welcomed Republicans to the effort, but added, “I don’t count on them.”

For most news stories there are 3 stages:
    1. The story itself.
    2. Reaction to the news story.
    3. Discussion of media coverage of the story.

The media’s favorite stage is #3 since they don’t have to worry about gathering facts or information – they just put the talking-heads on TV and let the mud fly.

We’re now at stage 3 for the health-care story. There is no more news about health-care or health insurance or health-care “reform”. And now that both sides have called each other Nazis there’s no need to do “reaction” stories.

Now we can look forward to several weeks of the media interviewing other media “experts” to discuss how the coverage of the story has affected the outcome.

    Swell.

First, these demonstrations are NOT scary. Maybe they don’t remember Watts or the L.A. riots.

Second, using Lincoln as an example could be interpreted as veiled innuendo that there might be a civil war.

Third, yes the demonstrations are about taxes and the economy in addition to making the government less of a corrupt monstrosity. I’m glad to see you’ve pulled your head out a little bit.

He’s just a fucking liar. Nothing to see here move along….

  5. bobbo, the political reformer says:

Watching this on tape right now. Is requiring people to buy health insurance a new tax or not?

Stavrapadopolous NAILED HIM by reading the dictionary definition of a tax.

Obamagod FAILED in his response: you must be desperate to go to the dictionary.

Hah, hah. Most objective FAIL I have seen Obamagod make. Hmmmm. Kinda throws into doubt all the closer to the line positions he has.

It’s the ignorant right and Fox news that is dragging this country down and we are now 2nd and dropping to Europe, in almost all people related measures.

    As far a Obama:
“said the health care fight had been more difficult than he anticipated and conceded that he has struggled “breaking through.”

It sounds like a very half heated commitment on his part. How could he be so clueless to think voiceturious objections wouldn’t happen? He after-all left the process as open to interpretation as much as possible.

#6 Calling all the people who disagree with you ignorant is a great way to make them dislike you and call you names but you aren’t going to get many people to agree with you because of it.

Compared to the sixties and the Weathermen, some of which are now supporting Obama, the modern day opposition seems to be able to show up in the tens of thousands, have a rally and go home without anyone being arrested.

I think the elitist media is confusing these people with the way they and their friends used to act in their younger days antiwar days when you had to call out the national guard to keep the crowds from burning the place down. Not the same crowd at all.

By the way Obama was clearly singing to the home team. He didn’t go on Fox and that means he decided to give more than half the viewers a pass.

My best guess is he’s hoping to get enough bluedogs to commit political suicide to pass something their constituents don’t want.

  8. Somebody says:

    He’s right.

I really shouldn’t think the worst of him.

And I would stop doing so if his policies allowed it.

  9. kw says:

    John,

I heard your comment on TWIT, where you favor a single-payer plan. This was somewhat of a shock to me, since I would have assumed that you agree with me that the govt already runs too much (poorly). Have your heard of this proposal?
