Think about it. Science can measure the afterglow of the Big Bang. We can determine details about subatomic particles. Yet with all our scientific methods we can find no evidence that God exists. Something as huge as God should be easily detectable. After all, he created everything and is answering prayers and doing miracles which should be something science could easily find.
So that means either he doesn’t exist – or he’s using his super powers to cover his tracks to hide from science so that science can’t detect him. And if he is all powerful he could do that. But, what does that mean if God is hiding? It means that God doesn’t want to be found. It means that God doesn’t want you to believe in God.
So what do we call someone who doesn’t want people to believe in God? We call them Atheists. Therefore – if God exists – God is an Atheist.
What do you think?
Well not quite. Your argument seems to be nellie is pink, nellie is an elephant, therefore nellie is a pink elephant.
Are you using materialist means to try to find the supernatural? God is not the sum of His ‘parts’, just like you’re not.
What one can say is that if you are looking for God, you will find Him. But I’d recommend reading the Bible if this is more than a ‘beer’ conversation.
Good question though, a great one to get in a conversation with a pastor or preacher with.

#1 Not to start this huge chicken and egg thing here but why is God a Him?
The fool says there is no God! If only you would read His Word. Your reward awaits.
I don’t believe an atheist doesn’t want you to believe in god. An atheist is some one who themselves doesn’t believe in a god(s). Wikipedia has a right nice description of atheism. I could go into a long diatribe on the difference between science and religion but its late and I am to tired to type it out.
Our science is not good enough to detect God, since God ‘lives’ in a different set of dimensions.
Remember, there is a parallel universe populated by non-human creatures called Angels, and they live in a place called Heaven, where they hang around, have debates, even wage war against each other. They are not allowed to have sex though, because sex is evil.
God in all his greatness, about 6000 years ago created the set of dimensions in which we live, and populated it with all the stars and planets. Then he created a different kind of being called the soul, and allowed it to travel transdimensionaly but only at the beginning and end of our lives, and put it inside us.
Our greatest efforts should be that we be allowed to travel back to heaven, where we can be forever and ever for all eternity united with our nagging wives.
So until our science learns to travel transdimensionaly to Oz… errrr… Heaven, you can not say that we have not detectedGod, therefore he does not exist.
God is inter-dimensional.
How do you view something that is inter-dimensional?
Do some research on the cosmological and the “TAG” argument. Crack open a bible and avoid the logical fallacies that God can’t exist. . Yes people fail to live up to a perfect standard, so they need a savior, but that does not address the question as to the existence of God.
If you are really looking for an answer then check out Reasons.org, STR.org CARM.org or apologetics315.blogspot.com and some of the work done by Kenneth Samples, Greg Koukl and Dr. Hugh Ross.
If this article is just to stir up a hornets nest then that is fine. #4 is right.
The naturalistic evolutionist can’t account for the laws of logic which are transcendent. You can’t use logic to prove logic. You can’t have an infinite regression of uncaused causes.
How do we know it was HIS word?
It’s common etiquette around here to at least pair your mental masturbation with some obscure article, please take note of this for future pointless musings.
Is there a kind of person that believes more in god than an atheist?
His moto is “There is no God, And I am his disciple!”
By the way, God, you could be more efficient using a more 21century media and give your message perhaps in voice instead of letters.. or maybe using the internet! Great: http://www.god.com or http://www.god.god
hum.. what if someone are using the god domain??
Over here, we believe god as the creator of the world we live in. There are a lot of religions each one have a picture of god in a way that fits its monetary purpose most of the time. they think they know god and want you to think as they do. Remove this god picture from your mind and let the real thing come over you. The true act of faith would be to let the god go. We don’t to think about it. Feel it instead.
“God” is the source of all energy in the Universe. Energy is everywhere – science can prove that! Therefore “God” is everywhere! “God” is not an old man sitting in a chair in the clouds. “God” is pure energy.
Energy cannot be created nor destroyed – it always was, always is, and always will be. “God” cannot be created nor destroyed. It always was, always is, and always will be. The Universe was never created and it will never be destroyed – it always was, always is, and always will be.
The Big Bang Theory is losing ground daily by renowned scientists who are beginning to see the connection to all energy.
“God” = Energy = The Universe!
Just my personal beliefs. Doesn’t have to be yours.
Let the tirades begin…
There is not one God, but many alien space gods who have visited the earth in the past. The evidence for them is every where. Sheesh.
Turtles, all the way down.
While I consider myself agnostic tending atheist, I’m more of the opinion that if God does exist, God is the universe itself. God is the rules that govern physics. God is the unifying principle.
God is therefore entirely beyond our understanding and ironically is what science is trying to find.
God is not a human with super powers that resides in the sky or the sun.
To put words into God’s mouth, or for someone to claim to be the voice of God is blasphemous and is an entirely political thing.
God does not reward you for good deeds or punish bad ones. God will not provide heaven or hell. God does not care. God cannot care.
Seeker said “You can’t have an infinite regression of uncaused causes.” The rules of causality only make sense in the context of time, which didn’t exist before the universe was created. It doesn’t make sense to think of pre-creation causes. It’s also a weak argument from efficiency and conservation.
But back on topic, you’re arguing that God is an exception and doesn’t require a cause since he/she/it is the First Cause. The problem this raises is why does the First Cause need a exception in the first place?
The answer of course is that God doesn’t need a cause because God is the First Cause. In other words, it’s a self reinforcing argument – or a straw man or circular argument depending on your point of view.
#3 Well God has referred to Himself in that way. As to male or female He is neither. Those are images of Him. (see Genesis) There isn’t another one like Him (outside of the Godhead) He’s eternal existant.
So…
Religion is bullshit, so the question is bullshit.
As #7 stated God is inter-dimensional. A complete understanding of how God works to mortals is like trying to explain how the plumbing in your house works to your dog. My dog understands that if she goes up to a metal thing and pushes it with her nose water comes out and she can drink. The rest of the plumbing I don’t think she’s very clear on.
But let’s look at your argument closer. You seem to suggest that it is reason and common sense that would lead even God to be an atheist.
Is it really reason and common sense that lead atheists to their certitude that everything, all existence, came about by sheer chance? That therefore there cannot be God, nor a creator? Unlikely.
Atheist certainty and religious certainty are both faith claims that transcend reason and common sense. Even science depends on a faith claim of natural law, otherwise there could only be chaos and science itself couldn’t exist. But at least religious believers have the intellectual honesty to admit theirs is a faith claim.
Nevertheless, I am not as certain about God as the average atheist is about no-God. When I look at the unjust world God created, I have questions, sometimes even doubts.
But not atheists. No, they look at love and consciousness, at the grandeur of the universe, at the birth of a child, and they hear Beethoven’s music and conclude that all of this and everything else just came about by itself from nothing.
It is an understatement to say that I do not find that position intellectually compelling. And when held with certitude, it borders arrogance. God made choice, and with the certitude of his existence he would forfeit choice and we would have a truly absurd existence as mortals. Good post though.
#18,
Nope. If he exists in a different dimension (or whatever…) he is just a variant of alien space god theory. Not a God at all, just your usual average run of the mill god.
Every cosmological observation, and every philosophical understanding points to…
Turtles, all the way down.
In an infinite universe all Gods are mere gods.
“Yet with all our scientific methods we can find no evidence that God exists.”
allow me to rephrase your statement:
“Yet with all our scientific methods we can find no evidence that God DOES NOT exists.”
Frankley Marc I find your post rather specious. Some worship at the alter of god and other worship at the alter of science.
#20,
Incorrect. All of philosophy, and all of cosmology point to an infinite universe. Unless you can point me to an edge, or biggest or smallest, in either science or philosophy, it is QED.
There is no God, only gods.
Let’s take what Hugh Ripper said and go one further.
Ready for some Philosophical heavy lifting?
Let’s say God created the universe with a thought. “Let there be light!”
This is Scientifically supported in Quantum Mechanics. It is related to the Wave Function Collapse where the wave function would be pre-existence unorganized energy (matter unorganized, also known as E=MC^2), and the collapse was this matter unorganized being observed and collapsing into a state of “existence” (the Big Bang). See Wavefunction_collapse for more. (Place yourself as the observer and the Wave Function as a superposition of energy waves which exist independent of you).
Ok, now because God created the universe with a thought (Observation), it stands to reason God is not a product of the universe but exist independent and separate from the universe.
Now, why can we not detect God? How can you detect a thought? What if God continued to direct our observation of reality through HIS observation of reality? How can you detect his observation is his act of observing changes our perception of reality itself?
What is reality, and from who’s viewpoint?
That is: “How can you detect his observation WHEN his act of observing changes our perception of reality itself”.
# 20 BigBoyBC – allow me to rephrase your statement:
“Yet with all our scientific methods we can find no evidence that God DOES NOT exists.”
And no-one can prove that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry does not exist. Does that mean that there are wizards walking amongst us? The point is that the burden of proof is on the people who say there is a God.
Some of the math floating around for a decade or more comes up with a Universe that bears a strong resemblance to a holographic projection from off stage.
A study this year claimed that when they went to the smallest level the, um, projection faded out. That is what should have been there became there in less and less numbers until it wasn’t there. That is reality does not extend below a certain level.
This has left me with a vision of a Universe that has a lot in common with a simulated universe running on some sort of computer.
No clue as to the nature and motives of the programmer or programmers but I suppose you could call it/them/whatever the force, God/gods/ or fate.
God lives in a parallel dimension? Where does it say that in the Bible?
BTW – I – Marc Perkel – actually own the registered trademark on the word “Reality”.
I own Reality!
Too much Star Trek?
I have a question about the picture.
Is that what the editor saw after his latest bong rip?
#26 – Marc Perkel – God lives in a parallel dimension? Where does it say that in the Bible?
It doesn’t… but minor things like that have never stopped the religious folks from making declarations… such as earth being flat…
