The stimulus package is living up to its provocative name by funding a bacchanalia of behavioral sex research, a Post analysis reveals. The next fiscal year is set to be one of the friskiest ever in the nation’s science labs, as researchers probe the ins and outs of sex patterns among humans and even some of our four-legged friends. Among the most titillating grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health are studies that would:

* Examine “barriers to correct condom use” at Indiana University, at a cost of $221,000.

* Study “hookups” among adolescents at Syracuse University. Study’s cost: $219,000.

No idiot stimulus/stimulated jokes, please.

  1. The Warden says:

What about the money going to the study called, “how Obama is fucking this nation and anally raping it into severe debt?”

  4. nothing here move along

    * Examine “barriers to correct condom use” at Indiana University, at a cost of $221,000.

These both sound cheap and might reveal useful information for human health and human sociological understanding.

this Guilherme Cherman is the worst might as well give Alfred1 the ability to post stories

  5. Guilherme Cherman says:

    #3, 1 million is cheap?

  6. Weary Reaper says:

  8. Buzz says:

…aaaaand your point would be that catching up after the puritanical eight year winter we’ve just been through is a… “Bad” thing?

Or are you just beating around the bush because the story has the magic three letter word in it?

  9. jbenson2 says:

    #3 is a classic troll

That’s over a half million dollars for sex research paid for by taxpayers!

    WTF?

  11. Gasbag says:

Oh come on noname grow up!

  12. Li says:

#8 Sociological research has concrete benefits in many cases, and several of these studies appear to have the potential to cut STD rates in high risk groups, which is a valid public health goal.

The really invalid studies are typically ones that are defined in such a way that success is impossible to measure, or the ones that are classified so that there is no accountability. These are not, apparently like that.

Just the Post exploiting the science illiteracy of the American public again, nothing to see here.

  13. #4

    “1 million is cheap?”

    YES.

I only posted about $440,000 buts what’s a few hundred thousand between friends.

Did you just read the titles or look into what those studies might hope to learn and why they were approved.

    “No idiot stimulus/stimulated jokes, please”

and you choose that photo cropped liked that to represent this story? Change the photo to some thing not so adolescent if you really want a mature discussion on the merits of these studies.

  14. audion says:

Is it website sweeps week? It seems to be empty provocation week here at Dvorak.org.

Here’s an idea! Walk into a crowded theater, shout, “Fire!” and post something about it here.

    That or, more tits.

  15. I just looked over Guilherme Cherman last few “Caption this photo” posts

I worry that he is stuck in the Phallic Stage of his psychosexual development. From some of your other postings Hmmm… what would Sigmund say?

I know you are still the new kid Mr. Cherman but think about how to post the things that interest you to encourage mature dialogue Look to most of Dvorak’s posts as an example

  16. Special Ed says:

I think they should teach these girls how to be a triple input.

  17. Sister Mary Hand Grenade of Quiet Reflection says:

These chicks with blonde hair, why do they dye the roots brown?

  18. noname says:

    # 18 pedro,

It’s hard to believe an non-republican having the moral high ground over a Republican.

I know it’s hard for republicans to understand what is inappropriate.

  19. ocdgeek says:

I’d like to see the full picture please. Maybe it is out of context.

  20. noname says:

    # 20 pedro,

I guess if the solder wasn’t sent to a unnecessary war, he would be alive and nobody would be protesting.

It sound’s to me as a republican, instead of protesting unnecessary death and destruction you rejoice in it.

    ZING!

  22. Esih says:

Can’t think of a better way to spend public money. Maybe it will save a few girls from being enslaved by early pregnancies.

  23. Named says:

    25 AlfredENewman,

“makes their rear ends twitch with delight, when in a circle, under a full moon.”

That sounds awfully religious. Why don’t you fill us in on the details? You’re an “expert”, you NAZI freak.

  24. deowll says:

What I do know is that an awful lot of what got stuck into that bill has about as much to do with stimulating the economy as giving out free VD tests.

It’s a spending bill/Pork pie. Government spending does not create wealth other than maybe making the people who get paid wealthy. It does not do much for a nations economy.

In fact because you have to make up the borrowed money some how sooner or later it’s nothing but a deferred tax and the borrowing has sucked up a lot of money that might have gone into the economy.

I also wonder about the long term prospects for inflation. I also think it may be too late to save our butts so don’t sweat it to much.

  25. Named says:

    27 deowll,

You’re right. Wall Street and private enterprise did everything perfectly right. That’s why the government is not bailing them out… wait…

  26. noname says:

    # 26 Named,

    Good catch.

  27. Anomalous says:

uh…New York Post??? aka NY Inquirer, not a bastion of accuracy.

  28. Named says:

    31, AlfredENewman

Right. I QUOTE you, and you claim it as mine. You’re as retarded as your are fascist. You don’t have a brain Alfred. You only have an ass… and your head is constantly in it. Why don’t you go and eat some of Jesus’s body. I’m sure you have a favourite part that you constantly dream of.

  29. bobbo, HEY ALFIE says:

When you get the reaction you are looking for, who is the sick puppy?

Plus, twitching butts, circles, and full moons certainly is religious imagery and you are a religious loon bat.

Seems to me anyone with common sense would wonder how you connect these all together.

Putting it all together, your main objection seems to be with people who demonstrate common sense?

Whats it all about Alfie???? Hoisted high in the air on your own petard, butt twitching in the full moon and all.

    Not a pretty sight.

  30. Phydeau says:

sigh… this is another wingnut cheap shot… except now it’s one of the editors. What fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent is this money of the total amount?
