Tracy Clark-Flory – Salon – Aug. 18, 2009:

Teenagers now have access to a free Internet library of “bestiality, piss-drinking, throat-fucking, bukkake gang bangs, triple anal penetrations” (and let’s not forget, coprophilia), as Eric Spitznagel puts it in the September issue of Details. There’s no doubt this is influencing teen sexuality — I mean triple anal penetrations on demand, c’mon! — but he sets out to answer the question of how it’s changing, exactly. That question truly deserves a book-length response, but his short answer is: Kids these days are having sex like porn stars.

The most vivid example he gives is that most members of Generation XXX think “sex ends with a money shot to the face.” Some boys, like one 17-year-old quoted in the piece, believe that “there is just something about blowing a load in a chick’s face that makes you feel like a man.” Spitznagel explains, “For most men over 30, facials aren’t something you actually do. They’re like car chases or hurling someone through a plate-glass window — the difference between cinema and life.

He gives other examples of how the sex lives of “America’s porn-fed youth” are different from past generations: They think pubic hair is nasty and anal sex is hot, and girls idolize the porn stars who inadvertently teach them how to give toe-curling blow jobs. But he spills the most ink, ehem, on the come on the face thing.

    Wow…I..uh…have comments..but..uh…I really don’t know where to even begin…I need a shower.

  2. Jim w. says:

And JCD wonders why this site gets blocked :-0

  3. Someone Else says:

I’m over 30, and I still say the hottest thing a girl ever said to me was, “make me pretty.”

Still got the pics of her face afterward.

  4. bobbo, porn is an expression of repression says:

“Trendhunter” has a ring of bias to me.

  5. Uncle Don says:

    Hey, man!

    I’m eating my dinner here!

  6. Bob Seeley says:

There are porn sites galore, John. Why did you feel it necessary to turn your blog into one. Same comment regarding your religious views. Obviously not that you give a rat’s ass. Why does everything have to eventually degrade? Goodbye, old friend. It’s been nice for quite a few years.

  7. Micromike says:

America needs to loosen up sexually. our Puritanical ways have kept us from enjoying a healthy sex life for too long.

#6 is an example. If you are so offended by what was visible here you are definitely an intolerant prude. If you choose to ignore sexuality all your life you are to be pitied.

  8. ArianeB says:

This pic could have gotten the point across better:

    My problem is this:

Porn sex is not normal sex. I think those of us who did not grow up on the internet can agree on that.

Thanks to MPAA ratings, the portrayal of normal healthy sex in media gets instantly slapped with an NC-17 rating and can’t advertise anywhere. So nobody bothers to make movies that show normal healthy sex the way it should be done.

But kids are curious, and media savvy and want to learn. But all they have access to is pretend Hollywood sex and XXX Porn.

  9. SN says:

    8. ArianeB said: “Porn sex is not normal sex.

Normal is what most people do. If most people have porn sex, porn sex becomes the new normal.

  10. SN says:

    6. Bob Seeley said” “There are porn sites galore, John. Why did you feel it necessary to turn your blog into one.

First, learn how this blog works. John didn’t post this.

Also, how did this posting turn John’s blog into a porn site? There are no pornographic images. Is the mere fact that “porn” was mentioned in the posting make it porn? Are dictionaries porn because they define porn?

Goodbye, old friend. It’s been nice for quite a few years.

Let me get this straight. You’ve been reading this site for over three years and you still think John posts all the material here?! Can you even read?!

  11. Dave T says:

Well, the facial thing will prevent teen pregnancy

  12. Weary Reaper says:

    Long time… no see!

    Har!

  13. jerry says:

While the kids being more promiscuous than ever is a true social problem that we don’t know how it’s going to play out, this article is gratuitous and uncharacteristic of the Dvorak I know. Do we need all that graphic stuff or maybe it’s a ratings play?

  14. bobbo, demonstrating the power of an image says:

#13–Jerry==”Do we need all that graphic stuff” /// Hurts to have your head pulled out of the sand and made to look===as in its completely your choice to look or not. Pictures about as tame and tasteful as I can imagine. Quite Clever for an adult community.

Now, why would I think you have your head in the sand? I’m picturing a man screaming with sand being poured on his face. Each grain a reality.

    Hah, hah.

  15. Longtimereader says:

Wow, JCD, you’ve let your site go straight into the toilet. I think it’s perfectly appropriate to block it now that porn’s on the menu. You can just STFU about how upset you are that it’s censored. Now you deserve the “porn” label, you stupid ass.

Done with DU…I can’t have this on my screen at work.

    Bye!

  16. bobbo, very strange says:

#15–meloveyou longtimereader==How exactly is this article or pictures “Porn?”

and why would you leave this or any other non-work related website open on your work computer?

    Silly person. bu-bye!

To our editors: as childish as longtime is, he reminds me anyway that many people in America are just this childish. I can see being sensitive to the issue might provide that NSFW label and an extra click to get to====or would this be like trying to work with the Repuglican Party?

  17. Mr. Fusion says:

I notice that all the complainers don’t post here very often, if ever. Drive by whiners that threaten to never come back. Why? Because that word “porn” has frightened them away. How juvenile. They can’t discuss the topic, they can only become frightened at the image.

  18. MikeN says:

I was told for years that content in movies and TV don’t have an effect on what kids do.

Plus that smoking should be banned from movies and TV because of the influence on kids.

  19. Mr. Fusion says:

    #9, SN,

True, normal is what people do. However Ariane B does make a very valid point.

The more we tell our kids this is normal, the more they will think it normal. Internet Porn almost always involves dehumanizing the woman because this is for the male’s pleasure, not the woman. It empowers most men to think they are in control.

While most men can probably tell the difference between fiction and fantasy, Internet Porn can only warp those on the edge and harm those who are crazy. It is not a building block for a healthy relationship.

  20. longtime says:

    Bu-bye, my silly weekly contribution!

There’s a difference between being “frightened” by porn and expecting real news…if he’s got to rely on porn for numbers, he has nothing to say I can’t get at FARK.

  21. Mr. Fusion says:

    #19, continued,

Can anyone picture Alphie in a relationship?

  22. jerry says:

Bobbo – way to champion low standards.

  23. Weary Reaper says:

Porn is inevitably in the mind of the beholder.

I’ll bet the complainers about this perfectly legitimate, informational article wouldn’t mind seeing someone being shot to death, stabbed to death, crushed in a car accident or even watching someone’s head explode.

To me, watching ‘snuff’ news coverage over and over again a thousand time is pornographic.

Sick phuks. It’s all in your heads, ya know?

  24. bobbo, always willing to learn says:

#22–Jerry==how would you approach this subject then?

Should it be discussed at all? Or was it just the pictures?

How should parents get the info that what their kiddies do on the internet may affect their sexual orientation?

    Hmmmmmm?

  25. Luc says:

The pictures point to an actual Russian advertising campaign. I find it distasteful, but someone had the chutzpah to carry it out. The pictures are therefore extremely relevant and not exactly offensive. They illustrate what the other article suggests, that “porn standards” are becoming mainstream. I still wonder if that is really happening or has just been augmented somewhat to make news, but all I’m saying right now is that he pictures are pertinent. DU has always been very good in that department.

What makes me reject the ad is that I think it is demeaning to women, but the article makes a perfectly valid point: maybe young women don’t feel demeaned at all and don’t need my stupid, outdated indignation. Maybe they enjoy such practices and whoever disagrees would do them a big favor by shutting the hell up.

I think that we are witnessing a very peculiar period, with cultural and political changes as dramatic as those in the 1960s. It’s no use standing in the way of the History train. All that we can do is step aside and watch it go by… as we are helplessly left behind.

  26. Cursor_ says:

    Porn sex?

You mean European sex that American GI’s learned during WWI and then brought home.

This guy writing hasn’t a clue. People have been doing “porn” sex for years. Where the hell did we get the term Cleveland Steamer? Sure wasn’t after the net became popular! How about Pearl Necklace? Yeah that term was NEVER used until porn industry went big in the 70’s.

We have been having kinky sex way before this schmuck even was a glint in the milkman’s eye. (BTW to this moron I’ll bet that Glint in Milkman’s Eye is from 2002 from a spam email!)

And the statement that most men over 30 don’t do facials. Maybe most men over 60 possibly.

The guy is talking from his ass. Kids today are not doing anything less than what we did unless you are older than 50. Then you made up for it in the 70’s. They just are more honest about it because there is less stigma about talking about sex.

  27. Randomized says:

The biggest problem with this is the general lack of respect towards women. Teenage boys will do almost anything to get laid, and unfortunately a teenage girl is pressured into doing just about anything to keep her boyfriend happy because for many of them, having a boyfriend is the absolute most important thing in life at the time. Watching porn is no different than watching an incredibly sick and twisted horror movie…you have to be able to separate reality from fiction.

I’ve known many women who never had an orgasm until their mid 20’s. Porno can be blamed in several of these instances. How often in a porn does a man perform oral sex on a woman? If he does, its very brief and the second he starts doing it, the actress is pretending to be overcome with ecstasy.

Just because you are old enough to do it, doesn’t mean you know how to do it.

  28. Hatman says:

It’s all true. I grew up reading books by the Marquis De Sade and they definitely gave me an unrealistic expectation of my future sex life.

  29. AC_in_Mich says:

err, well, ummm I googled “triple anal penetration” thanks to this article

    Wow!

I didn’t think it was possible, but now I have video proof!

And I didn’t see any CGI

Thanks to SN for bringing this highly informational topic to the blog

(I wonder if quadruple is possible? Ohhh, google…)

  30. Delta Dan says:

So much for integrity and journalism on this blog. Readership must really be low for SN to be “jumping the shark” with this and John to allow it.
