How exactly does a self-respecting conservative watch Fox News and not be disgusted by the way the network functions?

  1. qb says:

Who dresses those guys on Fox? And why do they all use Brylcreem? And is that the great smell of Brut?

  2. lameo says:

lame, but they learned it from the rest of the media…the rest of the msm only brings on people they know they can out-talk.

  3. lameo says:

lame….they need learn from the Obamedia…the rest of the msm only brings on people they know they can out-talk, or makes sure they are outnumbered.

at least we know this interview wasn’t planned and canned.

  4. jccalhoun says:

Shark week is obviously breaking news. If you can’t see that you are a fool!

I don’t really see this as a big deal. The host probably had to end the interview anyway and just spoke stupidly.

  5. Raff says:

Cash for clunkers is a great help to the middle class, but doesn’t help poor people much. The cars traded in will be destroyed, so there will be less used cars on the market driving prices up.
I would imagine that soon older cars will not be able to pass new “green” emission standards, making it even tougher for the poor to drive. But it helps the banks by loaning to people that are less likely to default and the auto industry in a number of ways.

  6. jbenson2 says:

Uncle Dave – read the audience numbers. Fox viewership is clobbering the other cable news stations.

The question is not what Fox is doing wrong.

The question is what is wrong at the other networks.

  7. RSweeney says:

Please, how can anyone respect CNN/ABC/CBS/NBC/MSNBC for drooling over Obama?

Imagine a world where “journalists” (and sadly this has to be in quotes), treated Obama as they treated Bush.

He could not be elected dog catcher.

  8. Hugh Ripper says:

Yet another reason to avoid network news.

  9. Mustardtits the blind harp blower says:

I can’t stand fox but I would probably have found a better example if i were trying to prove a point, this was just everyday ehhhhh.

  10. qb says:

Fox is just boringly predictable – it’s like pablum in an old age home. Penn and Teller’s Bullshit is just way better.

  11. Jägermeister says:

#5 – jbenson2 – read the audience numbers. Fox viewership is clobbering the other cable news stations.

Because Fox News cater to simpletons.

  12. qb says:

    10 Jägermeister

Remember, half the population is below average.

  13. Thepenguin says:

    #4 Raff,

the “cash for clunkers” program has some serious limitations the top two being:
Your vehicle must be less than 25 years old on the trade-in date

    and

trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG…

so basically you need a 1984 or older car in order to qualify for the rebate.

Realistically i have trouble thinking that those people who would normally do a trade in without taking advantage of this credit would do so with a vehicle newer than an 84′, and it is entirely possible to buy a car (that runs) in the early to mid 90’s for less than 500(in my area).

Although a lack of low price $#!& Boxes on the market may have an effect, I dont think is really impacts the used car industry, just private sale, and there are better things on the market for that price range.

  14. deowll says:

What it _may_ be doing is making it harder to get junk yard parts because these machines are crushed. I don’t see much reason why anyone should use a car worth more than a few hundred to do one of these deals. You buy junk yard fodder and sell it to nitwits for ten times more money than you paid for it.

Of course this bonus is no help unless you already had a healthy pay check and some cash on hand. I also suspect that a lot of people are buying now rather than later and once they do buy it may well be a few years before they buy again. I would have thought this would impact future car sells but time will tell.

Cash for clunkers is no help to the poor but it is some help to car makers and dealers at least in the short term which is more than you can say for most of the stimulus package.

  15. DA says:

Wow, Stabenow is an economic dunce.

Prices dont go up when people cant afford to buy stuff…the prices go down.

The cash for clunkers program is a complete disaster, that fox news anchor is a complete flipping idiot for not being able to articulate good questions and responses.

  16. Jägermeister says:

#11 – qb – …half the population is below average

And Fox News will be there to educate them and their offspring…

  17. Great American says:

DailyKOS? really? What a joke. It’s hard to take the point that the FoxNews guy is a lightweight when you reference such a crap source.

  18. Jeff says:

Cash for Clunkers is a disaster. Out of money in four days, dealers left hanging, decent used cars having their engines destroyed to prevent re-selling, etc. Remember these are the same people that want to run our healthcare.

  19. Mr. Fusion says:

    #13, doill,

You buy junk yard fodder and sell it to nitwits for ten times more money than you paid for it.

Another Boss Limpdick lie. This simply not true. The car must be registered AND insured for at least one year before being traded in. Getting that old junker sitting on blocks in front of your parents single wide won’t cut it. Nor will using a written off accident vehicle.

    *

If the vehicle is worth more than $4,500, then the program is not for you. If the vehicle is worth less than $4,500 and you use it to trade in you might be ahead. If the trade in value is $4,000, you would be up by a grand total of $500.

The cars are not automatically crushed. The engines are destroyed but the scrap yard may still sell parts.

Besides being a stimulous, the program is removing older, polluting cars that might not otherwise be traded in. Someone might want to keep that old pick-up worth $1,000 as a spare vehicle and trade in something else when they buy new. The program will influence that decision.

Of course, because this is a Democrat and Obama program, the right wing nuts will continue to lie about it and claim it is a failure.

  20. Improbus says:

One of the benefits of getting rid of my cable television service was not having to view ANY network news. In these tight financial times I think everyone should try it. You will be happier, trust me.

  21. MikeN says:

This is a subsidy for the middle-class and higher who can afford to buy a new car, at the expense of the poor who now have to pay more for a used car.

  22. Jägermeister says:

#16 – Dumb American – DailyKOS? really? What a joke.

Yeah, God dammit… the video was doctored!!

  23. Mr. Fusion says:

    #16, UnAmerican,

It’s hard to take the point that the FoxNews guy is a lightweight when you reference such a crap source.

So that FOX dude didn’t say any of that? The whole thing was fabricated by The Daily Kos with a look alike? This is a fraud?

Read the post just before yours. Here, let me help you count, it’s #15.

  24. Jägermeister says:

#22 – Mr. Fusion – Here, let me help you count, it’s #15.

LMAO – Almost swallowed my tongue on that one… 😀

  25. Great American says:

#22 Thanks donkey. I’ll help you read my post:

I said he was a lightweight so, yes, I base my opinion of him being a lightweight because what he said was stupid. It’s not that difficult if you take the time to read…

And it doesn’t change that DailyKOS is a questionable source. I suppose you think it’s a reasonable group of pundits?

    #23 I’m sure you’ve swallowed worse big boy…

  26. Great American says:

#21 Hey pal calm down. Why so serious? Be sure you take your meds before you hurt someone…

  27. Troublemaker says:

Some complete and utter moron said:

Uncle Dave – read the audience numbers. Fox viewership is clobbering the other cable news stations.

The question is not what Fox is doing wrong.

The question is what is wrong at the other networks.

The question is, why are there so many damned stupid people like you on this planet?

  28. Mr. Fusion says:

    #24, UnAmerican,

And it doesn’t change that DailyKOS is a questionable source. I suppose you think it’s a reasonable group of pundits?

Again, you are shooting the messenger. The Daily Kos added absolutely zero content to what was said. They only showed up as the posting source for the video, which is also available elsewhere. Yet that was your focus. The messenger, not the message.

If, in this case, the messenger is so important, please explain what The Daily Kos did with the video that altered the segment. Show us how they put an anti FOX slant on it. Show us where they snipped and deleted portions that effected the outcome or meaning of the video.

My view of the editorial bent of the Daily Kos is irrelevant. I have very seldom visited their site. Yes, if there was editorial content then I might agree with you. That is not the case here.

  29. Awake says:

    #5 – Jbenson

The ‘fact’ that Fox is clobbering the other channels is a big fat myth if you look at it from an ideology and political perspective, not just raw numbers.

Basically you have one channel that caters to one sub-segment of the population (Fox), and that is all that sub-segment will watch. The rest of the population divides their attention amongst 4 other channels, and rarely if ever watches Fox. The numbers for ‘the other’ channels when added together far outweigh the Fox viewership.

So from a political perspective, Fox viewership trails ‘the other’ viewership by a large margin.

So yes, the Fox News Network can pat themselves on the back for having the largest viewership of any individual network, but in the end it is a false victory when you consider the number of people that don’t (and are smart enough that won’t) watch Fox news.

  30. Fisher_X says:

You are all missing the point. It is not about D’s or R’s being right… It is not even about rich, middle-class, or poor people…

Only the government can afford to spend ABOVE market rates for junk, because they have deep pockets…yours!

Now, after only a week, they are more than doubling down (from 1B to 3B) on this “successful” program?!

I’ve got an old fridge that could get $25 on craigslist…but I’ll hold onto it, as the government buy back program will get me at least 500 toward a new one.

Ironically, at least this government program is honestly advertising that they are wasting your hard earned money on JUNK! Try to run a business like that…and you’ll be called GM.

    Sheesh!
