“C’mon kid, it’s time to see the doctor!”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – All U.S. children aged 6 months to 18 years should get a seasonal influenza vaccine every year, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.

The CDC’s Dr. Anne Schuchat said the agency was strengthening recommendations for children to get the vaccination against seasonal influenza, especially with fears that the new H1N1 virus will be added to the already expected burden of seasonal flu.

Two-sentence story from Reuters. Journalism at its best.

  2. orangetiki says:

I Already told my aunt and uncle to hold off their kids flu shot as much as they can. Best indefinitely.

  3. qb says:

Or we could teach them to wash their hands…

  4. Animby says:

#3 – Yahooooo! You got it. Frequent hand washing along with failure to pick your nose are probably more effective than any flu vaccine.

By the way: those alcohol hand gels? Expensive. Soap and water are more effective, if available.

  5. gordon says:

As they should every year. What? 18th Century politics is bad enough. You lot want 18th Century medicine, too.

  6. Amsterdamned says:

I wonder if it’s true that Henry Kissinger, who is one of the group of rich ghouls promoting the New World Order, really once referred to the majority of the human race as “useless eaters”…

  7. Thinker says:

As long as its a recommendation, thats fine. I still plan on skipping it. I don’t get it, I get the flu every 2-3 years. Stay home for 3 days or so then go back.

Its part of life getting the cold/flu. I just don’t get it.

    We don’t ‘need’ that ‘protection’.

“Exact numbers of how many people died from flu this season cannot be determined…” found here http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/season.htm

I’ll stick with #3 and stop listening to the bogey men that want to wrap me up in the proverbial cotton for the rest of my life.

  8. Benjamin says:

A lot of Freepers are anti-flu shot too. Just an observation. I know a lot of people that got a flu shot and ended up with the flu.

But it is probably better to get a flu shot because if you don’t they will lock you up in those FEMA concentration camps that they are building, although if you do take the vaccination it might kill you. We had this article yesterday: http://www.dvorak.org/blog/2009/07/23/journalist-files-charges-against-who-and-un-for-bioterrorism-and-intent-to-commit-mass-murder/

“The FDA is likely to approve 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccines before trial data can prove their safety and effectiveness against the virus.”

I don’t know shit about xyz. The government has an entire department of experts charged with protecting the public health of the population. As a result of earlier such efforts, the average age of Americans has gone from 35 to 82.

But I know better when it comes to my own health because I rely on – – – – . Fill in the blank with your own BS.

  11. orangetiki says:

    I like #3

  12. Coughee says:

    Great, another story about vaccinations.

#12, thank you. I’m not a virologist either so I’m inclined to trust people tasked with preventing the spread of disease. The government does a lot of bad things but there isn’t some huge conspiracy to…I’m not even sure what you obsessive idiots think they are trying to do.

#8, great, I’m glad you’re such a strong manly man. It’s a pity about all those assholes with compromised immune systems who go around dying willy-nilly every year because people are too lazy or paranoid to get a shot.

DVORAK, STOP POSTING/ALLOWING THIS SHIT. IT’S MAKING YOU LOOK BAD.

  13. Syrinx says:

Ah, that picture brings back memories. I was actually living in Ground Zero (i.e. Miami, FL) when it went down.

  14. Animby says:

    # 8 Thinker said,”…wrap me up in the proverbial cotton for the rest of my life.”

Excuse me, ‘Thinker.’ Would you mind telling us which proverb it is that talks about wrapping in cotton?

  15. deowll says:

I’m going to take my regular flu shot. I’m not interested in playing guinea pig for the new shot. The odds are good I will get it. I’m exposed.

  16. Mr. Fusion says:

Well this confirms it. The twoofers new conspiracy bug is the fly shot.

It actually fits in so nicely with 9/11 being an inside job, Bush and his concentration camps, Obama building new concentration camps, and now those who refuse to get a flu shot will be incarcerated. For their own good.

I’m curious what the next vast conspiracy will be.

  17. Mr. Fusion says:

    RE #19

Damn I hate it when that happens. The second sentence should be FLU, not fly.

  18. Mr. Fusion says:

Why, when the police raid a house to deport an illegal alien, with a search warrant in hand, they are being overly aggressive. Yet if the police arrest an elderly black man who requires a cane, in his own home, they are just doing their job?

Am I the only one noting some hypocrisy here?

    ahhhhh yes

    Creative perspective.

  21. Mr. Fusion says:

    #23, Rick,

Please compare that answer with your post in the Gates post.

With Gonzalez, the family had threatened Immigration with violence. In Gates, the homeowner was trying to get the cop’s name and badge number. Yet today, the very same wing nuts that condemned ICE as being overly aggressive actively support the police arresting the uppity nigger.

Change – Creative perspective, to an awful case of selective memory of fairly current history.

Always wondered what the payoff was to Clinton for allowing Raino attack a citizen in his home, while under the orders of a foreign country.

Tis a bit of difference between that situation and an arrogant racist bigot coping an attitude on a police officer while he’s trying to do his job.
