The traditional throwing of a bride’s bouquet for luck ended in disaster at an Italian wedding when the flowers caused a plane to crash. The bride and groom had hired a small plane to fly past and throw the bouquet to a line of women guests, Corriere della Sera reported.
However, the flowers were sucked into the plane’s engine causing it to catch fire and explode.
The aircraft plunged into a hostel. One passenger on the plane was badly hurt. But about 50 people who had been in the hostel escaped unscathed, as did the pilot. The incident happened at Montioni park in Suvereto, near Livorno, where the wedding reception was being held, Corriere della Sera said. A passenger on the aircraft, named as Isidoro Pensieri, 44, had the job of throwing the bouquet as pilot Luciano Nannelli flew past.
It is believed the bunch of flowers became entangled as it was thrown, and was sucked into one of the engines.
Ms Pensieri suffered multiple fractures and a head injury. She was taken to hospital in Grosseto by helicopter and then transferred to another in Pisa, Italian media reported.
I think an annulment is in order…
odd no wedding video? no pictures of this event?
sucked into the engine? they flew by in a jet?? that jet engine would have sliced and diced thos flowers in to little pieces of carbon.
i call bs here… something isnt right..
Love hurts (planes?)
J/P=?
I don’t think it was a jet, with two people on board, likely a biplane. Or a Cessna, something with props. That is the only logical explanation.
ok, a small plane, probably not a jet.
so, engine at the front?
how does it get sucked into the engine?
Just wondering…
It’s OK now to just grab a story from a news site and reprint the entire thing?
I didn’t know fair use had expanded that much.
Maybe it was one of those pusher planes, with prop (and engine) in the back. Or it may have been an 2 seater ultralight. But it seems to me #1 may be right. Something here doesn’t add up.
That marriage will last forever . . . it’s pre-disastered.
Was it a Boeing or Airbus? This plane might just be another casualty of the on going feud.
Wasn’t she that minor league softball pitcher?
It was a two seater Ultralight plane.
The Bride and Groom were NOT on board at the time.
It’s a shame these stories get spoilt, when you know the truth of them.
You are SUPPOSED to think it was an accident
this is obviously the result of sabotage by Piper to make Cessna look bad!@!?!?!?!?!?!!!!?!?1!!eleven!!!!
It either had to be an Ultralite aircraft or bullshit. Prop in front (no way it would cause damage) or it was a jet in which case the bouquet would have been shredded (unless it was in a steel vase).
This would rank right up there with the SCUBA diver sucked up into a firefighting plane picking up water out of a lake.
Yeah right.
I agree, this could not happen. Maybe the engine blew at the same time. Had to be a small plane, with a small flat four, or a radial up front. It had to go low and slow for this to work, which probably meant a biplane. More likely he stalled the thing. Altitude is your friend.
Flowers in the engine? Even ultra-lights have screens to prevent anything (and any one) from being sucked into the prop or engine. Even then, the engine intakes are louvered and usually filtered too.
Bullcrap.
Man you guys are dense. It was made to look like a freak accident! The plane was taken out by an EMP from a CIA satellite. Sources at the wedding said that there was a bright flash at the moment the bride threw the flowers in the air. Isidoro Pensieri, the injured passenger, is a disgruntled Goldman Sachs ex-employee and potential whistle blower with ties to the anti-swine flu vaccination lobby. Also, one reliable source confirms that he was carrying blue prints to a free-energy machine reverse engineered from the Roswell spacecraft.
The odds in Vegas are that Pensieri will commit suicide within days. Monsanto has Friday in the death pool. That is where the smart money is going.
