Huffington Post – 7-6-09:

Even Fox News has started to turn on Sarah Palin. In the midst of a segment about the Alaska Governor’s battle against “liberal” attacks, Liz Trotta went off-message.

Frankly, “the woman is inarticulate, undereducated,” Trotta said, arguing that for once liberal criticism was “well-deserved.”

“I think all the liberal stylists … really have a case. She just begs for adjectives like flaky and wacky.” When pressed, she added, “We’re talking about somebody who, right from the get-go, has been a flashy person who gets into a lot of trouble and really has no credentials for any job.”

My favorite Palin slam from the video:

What do you think William F. Buckley would have thought about her as the standard bearer of the conservative party?

God, remember the good old days when conservatives found value in intelligence, reasoned discourse, and education?! If you think about it, Buckley’s party doesn’t even exist anymore.

Palin is only charismatic if you don’t think too hard about the utterly banal and idiotic shite that comes out of her gob. At least when Obama swindles you, your being cheated by someone smart.

    23. “unlike the anti-capitalist Obama, who is doing a wonderful job of destroying the things that made this country great.

So the previous 8 years of W. have no meaning to you, whatsoever?! This whole financial mess which occurred over the last 8 years is somehow Obama’s fault?! You do remember that the economy collapsed prior to the election. Remember when McCain suspended his campaign to go back to Washington and save the day?

Personally, I’d be glad to have a good ole average American running the country for once. Just look at the mess all the so called geniuses have made.

If I’m to understand you correctly, you’re implying that W. was a genius. He is the one who created the mess we’re in. With Clinton we had the highest growth this nation has ever experienced, then after 8 years of W., we’re practically a third world country.

I can honestly say we would have been better off with Gore instead of W. And that’s not saying a lot.

Brittany Spears is charismatic, is a MILF, and draws massive crowds of slacked jawed yokels, too. Maybe she’s the savior of the GOP!

Why does it seem like women are the Palin’s worst critics?

  7. Improbus says:

    @dummy

Because women don’t have penis to think with?

All this does is prove once again that East Coast lesbian hags are irrationally threatened by Palin.

  10. DaddyD says:

“Here are lessons of the Sarah Palin experience, for any aspiring politician who shares her background and her sex.

Your children will go through the tabloid wringer.

Your religion will be mocked and misrepresented.

Your political record will be distorted, to better parody your family and your faith. (And no, gentle reader, Palin did not insist on abstinence-only sex education, slash funds for special-needs children or inject creationism into public schools.)

Male commentators will attack you for parading your children.

Female commentators will attack you for not staying home with them.

You’ll be sneered at for how you talk and how many colleges you attended.

You’ll endure gibes about your “slutty” looks and your “white trash concupiscence,” while a prominent female academic declares that your “greatest hypocrisy” is the “pretense” that you’re a woman.

And eight months after the election, the professionals who pressed you into the service of a gimmicky, dreary, idea-free campaign will still be blaming you for their defeat.”

Oh, right. So shes copping all this flak because she’s female white trash.

Here’s me think it was because of the words that come out of her mouth.

What would it take for people to stop considering Fox News as right-wing? Obviously this and Geraldo are not enough, but I just wonder if there is any point in trying. Maybe they should just admit their bias, and try to get other networks such as ABC and CNN to do the same, and move on. Any liberal opinions from their contributors seem to be met with “even Fox News agrees…”. This just makes it look desperate. Throw in Palin, who is not exactly someone who conservatives agree on, and it makes them look even more opinionated.

Sarah’s found herself a sufficiently loony backer: Michael Jackson. Turns out his death was a hoax. The King of Pop is now bankrolling Palin’s all-out run for the White House in exchange for “pick of her litter,” said to include grandsons yet unborn.

  17. Doobeedoo says:

I’m not a Palin fan, but it’s funny that those that are slamming her for being stupid/incompetent are the same ones who think she is being a quitter by stepping down fron governor. If she’s so dumb, why would you want her running a state? What they are really mad about is that she is stepping back from the limelight and won’t be newsworthy and is essentially telling the press “Hey, you want to slam me, come do it to me while I’m no longer a public official and expose your bias completely.”

My guess is that she is setting up a run for the House in 2010 and then a move to Senator and maybe get back into the Presidential ring in 2020 when she’ll be 56 and seasoned in Washington politics. She may have a star quality, but she’s too risky to push in 2012 when the Repubs will likely only need a solid candidate (Romney) to oust Obama.

  18. Mudding says:

The only thing she’s guilty of is being honest and not being slick enough to deal with reporters. She’s smart and knows who the crooked politicians are and says so and is working to stop the waste and out of control corruption that’s hurting a lot of people. They did this to Jesus. He didn’t have much respect for the bureaucracy of the time and spoke up about it and the FOX news contributors of the time couldn’t stand him. Yet, people still talk about Him to this day. They will talk about Sarah for at least a hundred years, she’s dynamic and has a good heart. People who incessantly criticize Palin are just making themselves feel bigger, yet no matter what they do, they are not that big. Too bad kiddies, you can play your games in the mud all day, have your fun, some people have work to do.

  19. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

#40…if she’d just STFU she’d be way ahead of her current status. Not that she’d be an ounce smarter in that case, but at least she wouldn’t seem so damned stupid.

Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

  20. Patrick says:

Interesting. Alaska is one of only a handful of States that is running a budget surplus. Texas is another. I think the media should concentrate on those states and attacks the execs running them…

  21. jccalhoun says:

Of course they have a surplus. Alaska and Texas both have oil money.

  22. Patrick says:

#51 California has so much oil that it is difficult to make subways in SoCal. So, factually that’s not the reason. Budget control is. Spend less than revenue. Not difficult to figure out, unless you have liberalitis.

  23. qb says:

    #51 jccalhoun

And Alaska receives more federal funding per capita than any other state by a long shot and significantly raised tariffs and royalties (notice I didn’t say taxes?) on the large oil companies. Oh and they sold that pesky little pipeline to a Canadian for $3 billion.

  24. badtimes says:

Liz Trotta is only stating the obvious. Quitting in the middle of your term is stupid. It’s interesting to watch the Palinistas (such as Kristol and Douthat) try to spin this into a positive.

  25. Patrick says:

    # 53 qb said, “And Alaska receives more federal funding per capita than any other state”

And, the Fed Gov’t controls huge amounts of Alaskan land and the whether or not it can exploit its natural resources…

  26. Ralph, the Bus Driver, says:

    #51, jc,

Actually, Alaska received almost $5 spent by the Federal Government for every dollar taken in taxes. That, as much as the heavy resouce based economy, is what gives Alaska its budget surplus.

  27. jccalhoun says:

I’m no expert but isn’t a surplus a sign that taxes are too high? For example Indiana had Democratic Governors for a long time and we often had a budget surplus. Now we’ve got a Republican gov who cut taxes and fees and the economy went bad and now we’ve got a deficit.
When Clinton left office we had a surplus too so to blanketly say that budget deficits are because of liberals seems an overgeneralization at best.

  28. GigG says:

” If you think about it, Buckley’s party doesn’t even exist anymore. ”

    Neither does JFK’s.

  29. Patrick says:

    # 57 jccalhoun said, “I’m no expert but isn’t a surplus a sign that taxes are too high?”

Nope, it shows that the executive management is intelligent as you have reserves to handle unanticipated emergencies or econ downturns. Otherwise you end up borrowing and paying interest and thus causing even higher taxes…

Also, there was no surplus when Clinton left office. The US has run a deficit for longer than you have been alive.

  30. Patrick says:

    # 56 Ralph, the Bus Driver, said, “Actually, Alaska received almost $5 spent by the Federal Government for every dollar taken in taxes. That, as much as the heavy resouce based economy, is what gives Alaska its budget surplus.”

65% of Alaska is owned/controlled by the Fed Gov’t (the other states) and control what natural resources can be developed. Pay to play. If the other states don’t like it they can return control and ownership back to the State of Alaska…
