Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair was killed in a shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, say authorities.

Police said they found McNair and a woman shot to death in a Nashville residence after receiving a phone call about an injured person.

The woman has been tentatively identified, but her name is not being released, authorities said. A law enforcement source close to the investigation said the woman is McNair’s girlfriend and that the residence is her condominium in downtown Nashville.

Witnesses said he was a frequent visitor there…

McNair, 36, spent 13 seasons in the NFL, the majority with the Tennessee Titans, before announcing his retirement in April 2008. He spent his last two seasons with Baltimore Ravens and he was the NFL’s co-MVP in 2003.

Shocking stuff. No details at all – yet.

  1. bobbo, not a participant in the human circus says:

Man and woman both shot in private residence?

    Check for old boyfriends/current (other) boyfriends. “If I can’t have you – – – – – “

  2. Gilfoil says:

Obvious situation. So obvious. Too bad.

  3. SN says:

    Shocking stuff

An NFL player involved in the wrong side of a felony?! Shocking?! Is this your first day in the country?

  4. right says:

The NRA must be having a party now, they love the killing. One gun produced every 20 seconds with 360,000,000 in action.

Sad, your country is a sad example of the murders. USA = murderers.
If you want to live, never go to the USA if your holiday wants you as a repeat customer. Bang bang, bullet through the brain.”

  5. bobbo, an anti-gun/gun nut advocate says:

#5–right==you aren’t an American are You? Our proud birthright postulates that FREEDOM must be nourished by the blood of patriots.

Def: “patriots”–innocent bystanders murdered by the omnipresence of guns in America within a cultural context of might makes right.

But hey, consistent statistical rankings year after year showing USA number one in murder by guns means nothing when a bumpersticker is seen as justification.

  6. Gilfoil says:

#5. Stupid. Did OJ need a gun? No. Do you know how many guns PREVENT crime every day? No, of course you don’t. Jerk. How many people are killed by bicycles? Cars? Electricity? Gas appliances? Swimming pools. Dumbshit.

  7. Gilfoil says:

#6 You’re hopeless as well, and a pansy, no doubt.

  8. Gilfoil says:

Somehow, the anti gun nuts always turn criminals into NRA members…..

  9. Gilfoil says:

Bobbo, why don’t you do your endless research and tell us how many NRA members, or CCW permit holders, or other LAW ABIDING citizens murder people? Because the number won’t support your diatribe.

  10. Gilfoil says:

And after Katrina, or after the next attack, the value of self protection is self evident. Because there are bad guys all over the place. With knives, bombs, and yes, (gasp!), guns!

  11. Cap'nKangaroo says:

#7 And just how many are MURDERED with bicycles? Cars? Swimming pools? Electricity? Gas appliances?

    Take a chill pill, pal.

  12. right says:

I love the arguments, especially the damn crazy ones:

“Our proud birthright postulates that FREEDOM must be nourished by the blood of patriots.”

What a bunch of IQ idiots. Killing of innocent people year in year out due to the frackin gun laws makes no impact to these asses. They are sad representatives of the US nice people. I’ve met many nice people in the US over the years and they all hate guns.
I boycott Heston, the asshole, and all others who promote violence.

  13. Gilfoil says:

Say whatever you will, nobody is going to eliminate the firearms we possess because of a little thing called the BILL OF RIGHTS. Unfortunately for you wimps, those of us who wish to defend ourselves and bear arms will always retain the RIGHT to do so. Tough crap, sissys. Move to the pansy-ass continent of Europe if you don’t like it here. Enjoy your nice people who hate guns.

  14. Gilfoil says:

#12. You don’t understand the argument. Death is an acceptable risk we all condone and with which we have no problem, and we utilize those things. Same with firearms. Misuse by hoodlums is an acceptable risk for the decent majority to be able to defend themselves if they choose to. But anti gun zealots will never allow others to make up their own mind and that is the problem. Yeah, I know all about how my owning a gun makes me a bad person. Right. Just like Teddy Roosevelt was evil. Even that jerk John Kerry borrowed somebody’s shotgun to prove he was a real man and went hunting for one day.

  15. Dufus says:

#13- “I’ve met many nice people in the US over the years and they all hate guns.”

    Well,

I’ve met many nice people in the US who don’t hate guns. Gee. How can that be?

  16. Dufus says:

    #13
And, if you’re not a lucky US citizen, I am afraid our wonderful Second Amendment does not apply to you. So quit worrying about it, and go back to your own country. You have no conception of why there IS a Second Amendment, like others on this blog.

  17. Scattergun says:

    Back to the topic:

Obviously, this was a murder/suicide. The woman was shot once in the head, and the gun was at the scene. She was described as “a friend”. Some friend. Sahel Kazemi. Shouldn’t have pissed her off.

  18. Dribbleglass says:

I agree. Murder suicide. No hood leaves the gun at the scene of the crime. They are valuable.

  19. Delphi says:

    To clarify:
The Bill of Rights does not GRANT rights. It affirms them. The rights EXIST whether or not they were codified into the Constitution. The Framers were much, much wiser than the yokels running around now. The Bill of Rights was not some afterthought. It was a definition of the rights of the people of the newly formed United States of America. England has no 1st Amendment. Maybe some of you folks who love posting here should go live there, where there are plenty of “nice people”.

  20. King of Pap says:

The woman was DUI Thursday night, in an “Escalade” (of course), registered to both McNair and HER. I guess he didn’t spend a whole bunch of time with his old lady. Oops. Murder/Suicide. Pop goes the weasel.

  21. John Paradox says:

    LAW ABIDING citizens murder people?

The error here is pretty obvious

    J/P=?

  22. Cap'nKangaroo says:

#15 Perhaps you did not understand the point I was making. You started the post asking did OJ use a gun to murder two people. Then you threw in the other crap about bicycles, swimming pools, electricity, cars, and gas appliances killing people. Yes, these things may kill you accidentally but their use as a means of murder are a tiny fraction of the number of murders committed using a handgun.

  23. contempt says:

What is it with liberals that it’s always the gun’s fault?

Could it be what killed McNair is that he decided to run around on his wife? I’m sure he would still be walking around if he had been home watching Sports Center or even Scooby Doo – with his wife.

  24. Cap'nKangaroo says:

#24 Where did a liberal, or anyone, say it was the gun’s fault?

  25. soundwash says:

-not to worry, given the current trend, i’d bet a dollar that there will be at least 5 more celebrity types to die before summers end for you all to pick at.

-his death is irrelevant. a distraction. get over it find something that might actually effect your existence to ponder.

    lord knows there is plenty
    to choose from.

    -s

  26. Chuck Zero says:

Ahhh, the predictable gun debate. McNair had a handgun permit. There are pretty good odds that this was just a fight that turned into a murder / suicide because there was a gun handy.

Here’s the thing. Guns turn disagreements and fights into murders. They cost people their lives. Guns also save lives and property. From the perspective of someone who lives in New Orleans, I have no doubt that there are more lives lost than saved.

  27. Mr. Fusion says:

Either Alphie has a twin or is now posting under a new name.

And yes, I am also very interested in how many people have been killed with bicycles, gas stoves, knives, and what have you, compared to guns.

I would also like to know the number of people killed compared to the number of people saved by handguns.

The last time I looked, there were a few hundred self defense killings compared to 16,000 or something murdered by guns. No, I don’t plan on scouring the CDC or FBI sites to find those numbers again.

  28. ridin' the short bus says:

The Gun debate will Never End… In the UK it is almost impossible to be the owner of a Gun these days after what happened in Scotland 10 or more years ago, they took ’em away!!! That would not be such a bad thing in America either. I used to own several hand guns, several Rifles and a few shotsguns..was raised on a farm and I admit, sure it feels good in your hand amaybe a bit manly to hold and fire a gun…but after re-evaluating what matters to me and after having children I have decided to be rid of all the guns and I have done so.. I do believe the Framers of the US Constitutuion and Bill of Rights would be turining in their grave today, if they were able to see what our country has turned into… we peaked in 1953 (or about) and have been going down hill ever since.. just look we are the 114th hapiest nation on earth… WAKE UP SHEEPLE!! No one even wants ro immigrate to the US any more… Its all canada and Austrailia or Europe!!!
