Pop star Michael Jackson dead: report – washingtonpost.com — FYI. An odd tragic figure.
Pop giant Michael Jackson, who took to the stage as a child star and went on to set the world dancing to the thumping rhythms of his music for decades, died Thursday, TMZ website reported. He was 50.
“We’ve just learned Michael Jackson has died,” TMZ said.
“Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We’re told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back,” the entertainment site said.
There was no official confirmation of the reported death and spokespersons for Jackson could not be reached for comment.
#57 Not quite…
“…the old king is dead, long live the king..”
Coldplay
#58 – Mr. Fusion – Accuse him of what you will, but he was still found not guilty after a fair trial…
Money talks.
GregA, at #50 that’s what I wanted to say but you did it well. I agree he was one of the greatest singers of all time. At nine years old, the early peak of his fame, he still blows away all of the crappy pop stars of the last couple decades.
But he was also one f-ed up dude who straddled the line between freakazoid and absolute genius.
who is the happiest man alive tonight?
Governor Mark Stanford!
Thomas Bacon said “anyone who likes young boys and tobacco” can’t be all bad, but Michael Jackson didn’t smoke.
Truly awesome talent as a singer, songwriter, performer and businessman.
Couldn’t conquer his demons- maybe they won.
#60.. Dude, Madonna is still hugely popular.
She may not be your kind of performer but she is not after the Lawrence Welk crowd. She rocks.
Mr. Fusion- “found not guilty after a fair trial of some goldbrick trying to extort money from him.”
LOL, yes your naivete is amusing.
Just goes to show you, 12 people may find you not guilty, but someone else didn’t agree….
I felt sorrier for him when he was alive.

dadadadada dadadadada … beat it, beat it, beat it.
dadadadada dadadadada..
What will the death certificate say were it says “race”?
Natural selection at work here people…Mother Nature knows best!….Later Mik.
In remembrance of Michael Jackson, lets all just grab our crouches and beat it.
I love all the reporters talking about how he died from cardiac arrest. Dumbasses, everyone dies of cardiac arrest. “cardiac = heart , “arrest” = stopped. Duh…. This child molesting mother-fucker died from too many fucking pain pills washed down with some “jesus” juice.

Someone on TV said he was 5′ 10″ (1,78m) tall and weighed 110 pounds (50kg) and he had been practicing and rehearsing six hours a day. So it may not have been intentional, but he definitely could have.
2 cultural icons in one day. Where’s my tequila?!
I’m entirely willing to give Michael Jackson the benefit of the doubt, a grand jury did. I really will miss his music. I was looking forward to the new dance he was talking about using in his London shows. This whole thing has gotten me down a bit more than I would have expected.
I remember little Michael of the Jackson 5, the cartoons, anybody else cut the 45 record of ‘ABC’ of the back of the box of alphabits cereal. The thriller album helped to build a music video industry and was a great boost to MTV. I don’t know anymore about his personal life than any of you titheads. What I do know is that none of you would stand the scrutiny his life has had. Bunch of freaks hiding behind artificial identities spouting crap like little shit geysers. Show some respect, when you’re dead nobody’s gonna remember you to pick your life apart.

In less than a thousand years no one will remember him.
Or you, me or pretty near anyone else.
They MIGHT remember Elvis, possibly the Beatles. But unless the person with this knowledge is a historian or a trivia freak, no one on the street would remember.
How many people could you get off the street now that could easily name a greek epic poet?
You might get lucky and have one name Homer. But most will have no idea.
To think the best baker in Rome that everyone said he is famous and everyone buys his stuff and knows him, is forgotten. The same with the best sword in Persia, the best craftsman in Greece, the best stonecutter in Egypt. Who remembers? No one really. It doesn’t matter.
In 10k years no one will care about our own dynasty. Its not what was or what will be that matters. Its here and now that counts.

Well DUH! Of course everything will be forgotten sooner or later. But MJ had a lifelong career, and will be remembered for generations. In the last 20 years I’ve seen plenty of pop stars come and go. None of those will be remembered even 10 years hence.
Does it really matter? Probrably not, in the grand scheme of things. But a lot of lives have been colored by pop culture. Nobody gets to take advantage of their own legacy(unless they can fake their death somehow). But we all got something from him, and probrably more than we deserve.
I think saw MJ at a Burger King last night.
#70 – Boo Hoo Hoo motherfucker.
#74: Docs said it was food poisoning. I guess 12 year-old meat really is bad for you.
I got an MJ moment for ya, as a kid in the summer of 72 I went to see the promising continuation of a film called ‘Willard’. Basically thousands of rats attacking humans. In the continuation ‘Ben’ Michael does the theme song, basically a love song to a rat. At first I started to laugh, but it got to me somehow. After that I tried to convince my dad that a rat would make a good pet, good thing he wanted nothing to do with it.

I don’t care how you feel about him that’s funny.
Back in 1997, Michael Jackson was interviewed. He remarked that the deaths of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa scared him. When pressed why, he admitted because he feared he would be next.
He probably heard the news of Farrah Fawcet and panicked believing that celebrity deaths come in twos. With his anxiety about the concert tour and the body stress due to recent training… his heart gave out.
He died of fright.
Jackson spawned a whole new industry.
He was a good performer until after he did Bad. Then he just got crazy. He is no longer remembered for songs like Thriller, Bad, and Billy Jean. Now he is remembered for plastic surgery, child molestation, and plain creepiness. Self destructive celebrities die young. At least little boys are safe.
On his grave stone they will write:
“Michael never liked himself,
His surgeries were quite drastic.
At least he’ll never decompose,
He’s mostly made of plastic.” –(Not sure who the author is. It is not my own poem.)
I’ll remember him like most of his fans will and not like the holier than thou fools who never seem to get past what they don’t like in people.
What a shitty life you must live in. Hopefully, only a small amount of your crappy views gets passed to your unfortunate kids.
An old boyfriend of mine worked w/him on the “Beat It” video – Michael would only talk to him and the children on set. When he asked why, Michael told him, “I don’t trust adults.”
