Whether or not General Motors files for bankruptcy protection, the carmaker has made clear that its future plans do not include two brands — Saturn and Hummer — that once seemed to hold immense promise for the company.
GM has said it will decide this year whether to sell or discontinue both brands as part of the stringent cost-cutting measures aimed at trying to restore the ailing company’s financial stability. The overall effort also has created an uncertain future for two other GM divisions, Saab and Opel.
GM spokesman John M. McDonald said this week the automaker has identified parties interested in purchasing Saturn and Hummer, but he would not provide specifics on who might be interested or when any deals might be reached.

Hummers are “statement” vehicles (they say, “I make a lot of money, but I’m stupid.”) On the other hand, I leased a Saturn last year (got a great deal) and it’s one of the better cars I’ve had out of a couple of dozen previous vehicles. Somebody other than GM might make something out of the brand.
That’s funny. Saturn actually did great until GM mgmnt meddled in the division. GM is DOOMED.
1. Hummers are “statement” vehicles: “I make a lot of money, but I’m stupid.”
No truer words have ever been spoken!

So true!
“Unsafe at Any Speed”
“Bad investment at any price”
My wife is aqainst hummers. Oops… I forgot this is about a car. So…what will happen to the military version, the Humvee, if the brand is discontinued?
I can obviously understand this for Hummer, but I’d think Saturn would be something they’d want to hold on to. Small, Fuel-efficient compacts are going to be what everyone starts buying once they start buying cars again.
i wanna know… how can i get that stupid to make alotta money!… 🙁
iq of 130 and piss poor… 🙁
gm really hosed saturn when they brought it fully into the fold..
but others that have expressed interest in saturn seem to hold it in the same contempt that gm does for making a fine product..
i’m just wondering what my next car will be…
prolly have to be a honda, only car company with plants left here in ohio…
