Michio Hoshino, a photographer known for his pictures of bears and other wildlife, was mauled to death by a brown bear on the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia. He was in his mid-40’s and lived in Fairbanks, Alaska.
This is the last photo he took.

Most people in bear country carry around something like the 454 Causal (Casull) Fireball. It will bring down a bear.It definitely has more oomph than the 44 Magnum. The problem I have with the pic is that it looks like a grizzly not a brown. This guy was killed by a brown.
Yes, the photo is fake, although the way this guy apparently died isn’t.
I’m with #36. How about reaching for a 44 instead of a camera? I mean, if he took the time this well composed picture, you would think he would take the time to either pull out his gun or some sort of defense.
That is, unless he’s some sort of crazy like the Grizzly Man.

At that exact moment in time I think I’d have rather had a Howdah pistol even if it was a black powder muzzle loader than the best camera on Earth.
There is nothing like a couple of very large lead slugs moving at a decent speed to make a critter lose it’s appetite.
The bear might have still got me but it wouldn’t have gotten far.
Of course the gun under a full load might break your wrist but um, under the circumstances who cares? Your problem is living lone enough for that to hurt.

BESIDES WHICH, not to point out the obvious, that “www.myurl.com” most assuredly does NOT point to the same place as “myurl.com”. They are two separate namespaces. Granted, most of the time, either will get you there, but that isn’t necessarily the case. Sending traffic from “myurl.com” to “www.myurl.com” requires either setting it up that way in the nameserver or creating a redirect page.

When this first started popping up, I said the same thing or nearly. I think I suggested it ought to be easier to change the way a piece of software works than to try to change the ingrained habits of a bunch of geeks. But, actually, it’s worse than that. We aren’t typing the durned things in, we are cutting and pasting. So, apparently, Firefox doesn’t realize it is unnecessary, either.

Now that you mention it, I should admit that I have been posting hateful crap on the interweb (and before that BBS’s) for so long that I have already responded to every possible thing that has/can/will be posted. I keep my responses in a big database and I can cut and paste my old responses with only two or three keystrokes, as appropriate.
