The two faces of Obama. The apologists need to get a clue.

  2. That’s the difference between MSNBC (and the libs) and Fox (and the Dittoheads).

Rachel (and Keith, and the rest of those commie pinko fags) will rip Obie a new asshole, if she thinks he’s not living up to his promises or his potential.

The Dittoheads (and their bedfellows on the Radical Right) support their ideologue, come heck or high water, no matter what kind of a fuckup he or she is. Christ, some of them were still supporting Bush (and Bush Junior, McBush) right up to the bitter end.

    It’s a whole different mindset.

I was vaguely thinking the same thing after hearing Obama’s speech but Rachel really nailed it head on. She took a different path from her MSNBC cohorts that evening. In following days, the others seem to be coming around.

I’m thinking these talking heads actually have some control over what comes out of their mouths. Rachael is a unique voice–liberal and not a political hack. Someone to follow–meaning listen to for their independent analysis not at corrupted by talking points as all too many are.

  5. Montanaguy says:

Did he actually say “war” as in ‘war on terrorism’? Funny how the campaign speeches of a neophyte fall away after exposure to the realities of the security threats we face. Maybe Obama isn’t as stupid as I thought.

  6. prh says:

Is Obama that dumb or does he thing we’re that dumb? Personally, I thinking the latter.

    Change we can believe in…Ha!

Good post (well, except for the commie pinko fags comment).

  8. Uh Huh says:

I guess all of you true believers that this guy was going to change anything must be feeling pretty stupid just about now.

  9. Randin says:

Ah, unfortunately this proves that ultimately you cannot trust either side. So far he has yet to really keep a campaign promise.

  10. bobbo says:

#5–prh==YOU certainly are as dumb as anyone may wish to think. Imagine substituting bumper sticker sloganeering for any rational argument?

Change I have given up hoping for.

  11. Patrick says:

    # 9 Randin said, “So far he has yet to really keep a campaign promise.”

I don’t think that is an accurate statement.

I thought I’d just throw that one in, before Fettucini Alfredo beat me to the punch. Gratuitous verbiage, with no point. Like he specializes in.

  17. Chris says:

I think there is another way to see this, not that I like it.

I suspect he did this to keep the right wing media from jumping on him yet again.

The problem with Gitmo is simple: we tortured. To close Gitmo, you have three possible scenarios for each prisoner: release if we truly have no case, try in US court if they broke US law, or try in Military court (tribunal) if they broke international law.

The problem is that we have prisoners there who might be guilty, but we probably cannot successfully convict them because they can use the torture defense. So, the real reason he is back-pedaling is the fear of having to release someone who is dangerous. Don’t blame Obama for something the Bush administration set up. There is now a ton of evidence and testimony that the only good information we got was before these people were tortured. They were tortured to try and make the Iraq/al qaeda connection. This connection didn’t exist, but when you torture, you can get people to say anything to get it to stop. Cheney, who I believe suffers from acute paranoia, has placed this country in an untenable position.

This is a very bad precedent, because what we are really saying is we will hold indefinitely any prisoner that we think we won’t win the case in court with.

In the words of the late Barry Goldwater, “let the man be president.” It would be nice if the far right would take Republican’s advice, but they won’t. They probably think he’s a “commie” too.

Rachel Maddow is such a pro. Probably the best news presenter on TV right now.

Either Obama was lying from the get-go (which I want to believe), or there is some horrible Presidential eyes-only intelligence that is so spooky, and so certain, that it makes all this shit seem necessary.

  20. Traaxx says:

    Let’s see:

The Demoncrats still are wiretapping without warrants. They haven’t repealed that law.

The Demoncrats still have Guantanamo and are actively planning to add more, acording to President Hussein’s remarks.

The Demoncrats are planning to make the recession permanent with a new Tax called Cap & Trade.

The Demoncrats are passing the largest budget deficit in history.

What would Demoncrat say about Bush right now, I know..

Let’s Impeach President Hussein and try Bush for Treason. Any chance we could take down Hilary too.

So much for change. Same ocean different river, One World Government here we come NAU.

    Whatever………

    >>warrants. They haven’t repealed that law.

Any evidence to support that, son? Or is this more of your bloviating bullshit, completely divorced from reality?

Just because President Obama hasn’t overturned every single satanic rule and regulation rammed down America’s throat during the Dark Reign of Dumbya, that doesn’t mean that anyone is actively wiretapping without a warrant.

And really, why bother? The FISA court is pretty much a rubber stamp for warrant requests; only in a situation where there was ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER to justify a warrant would they reject.

“Just because President Obama hasn’t overturned every single satanic rule and regulation rammed down America’s throat during the Dark Reign of Dumbya”

Oh hai! You mean that Patriot Act thingy all the Dems voted for too? Ha ha, you so cute!

  23. Traaxx says:

    # 24 Mister Mustard, Hee Hee you’re funny.

I think my point is that President Hussein, the floppy eared one, hasn’t overturned any of the rules of laws passed by King George Bush. I’d be interested in knowing any rules or laws, other than stem cell research which abets the murder of babies.

“FISA court is pretty much a rubber stamp for warrant requests; only in a situation where there was ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER to justify a warrant would they reject”, we can assume that President Hussein is going to end the FISA courts as the interview seems to contradict. Hussein seems intent on adding prisoners, if you accept what he said as truth and not just another lie.

    Whatever………
    Traaxx

  24. Traaxx says:

    # 18 Chris, oh the bad evil right wing press is forcing Obambie Hussein to keep open Guantanamo like prisons. Better watch out the evil right wing press might make Obambie Hussein go to war with Iran.

    # 2 Mister Mustard, yeah that’s why it’s been covered by news so much, hee hee.. Which is it the right wing press made him do it or the left wing press will keep from doing it? President Hussein doesn’t seem to care what either wing press has to say no more than the Clintons did.

    Whatever……

    >>I think my point is that President Hussein,
    >>the floppy eared one, hasn’t overturned any

    >>Bush.

It’s a pretty shitty point, then. Dumbya had 8 years to work his evil magic; President Obama has had less than 4 months to undo it. He’s not allowing warrantless wiretapping to OCCUR; that seems to be a more pressing agenda item than getting it off the books. All things in their good time, son. It will be removed.

    >>we can assume that President Hussein is going
    >>to end the FISA courts as the interview seems
    >>to contradict.

You may assume what you wish. It will only make as ASS out of U (but not me). The purpose of the FISA courts is to ensure that spooks don’t go wiretapping some random citizen they think may be banging their wife. That’s why virtually all of the warrant requests are approved, because their existence discourages jealous husbands from wiretapping anyone they take a hankering to wiretap. They need to apply for a warrant, and they need to say why. So only legitimate suspects get listened in on.

What on earth ever possessed Dumbya (Satan, perhaps) to think that no oversight was needed into this sort of intrusion on American’s privacy is beyond me.

I just thank God he’s nothing more than a bad taste in America’s collective mouth at this point.

  26. bac says:

Ok, what are people really wanting done then? Would it be a bad thing to set the Gitmo prisoners free? If so, how long should they be kept in prison?

It sure sounds like people are confused about the situation. Either set the prisoners free or pay the price to keep the prisoners within the walls.

That’s STILL not fixed? I’ve been gone for almost six months, and I was sure that would have been taken care of by now. Just like the mysterious orange highlighting that gets applied to some words like dvorak

And whatever happened to the “recent posts” listing that used to be on the right side at the top? It used to be there, then it was there but unspeakably ugly, and now it has disappeared altogether.

The second two items are fairly minor, but blog software that CANNOT DISPLAY A STANDARD-FORMAT URL PROPERLY? Sheesh. Frownie face.

  28. Traaxx says:

    # 28 Mister Mustard: can you prove that President Hussein hasn’t been allowing secret wire tapping. Clinton did it. So it’s fair to blame Hussein for not ending it now, just like it’s fair to blame Bush for it. It’s also Bush’s attorney general that didn’t think the writ of Habeas corpus while guaranteed in the US Constitution isn’t guaranteed to US citizens.

But back to your point. I wouldn’t want you as a father, not with your beliefs and I’d be ashamed of you if you were my father.

President Hussein, another spawn of Satin like Bush, isn’t going to diminish one iota of his power. The wire tapping will continue, the torture will be handled through ‘rendition’ like the Clintons did.

That bad taste in your mouth is the foot you have after Hussein tried to condemn and advocate the exact same policies which you are blindly supporting just like you blindly support the Demoncrats, come on grow a pair be a Nationalist and support your country.

    Whatever………

I seem to remember Obama acting like he was going to overturn all this shit THE DAY HE GOT INTO OFFICE. Get us out of Iraq my March, and all that shit.

Then he gets into office and is all like, “GONNA TAKE TWO TERMS TO UNDO THIS!! PS: INDEFINITE DETENTION LOL”

Total bait-and-switch. The fact that all you Obamabots aren’t furious and marching on Washington proves you’re a bunch of dipshits.

    >>Mister Mustard: can you prove that President
    >>Hussein hasn’t been allowing secret wire
    >>tapping. Clinton did it.

Care to back that up? Or are you like Paddy-RAMBO, with his drive-by bullshit blasts, scampering back into the dung heap when called to back up some of his right-wing talking points.

Mind you, we’re talking about WARRANTLESS (formerly “illegal”) wiretapping here. “Secret” wiretapping is an entirely different thing. I don’t have a problem with “secret” wiretapping; if it were made public, it would kind of defeat the whole purpose of doing it. It’s just Dumbya’s “we-can-wiretap-anyone-we-want-with-no-reason-and-no-accountability” strategy that I take issue with.

    >>But back to your point. I wouldn’t want you

You think that was my point? That I wanted to have you as a son??? GAK!! FORGET ABOUT ROE v. WADE!!!!!!! You’re a walking, talking testimonial for the need for continued family planning education, wisely used!!!

    >>President Hussein, another spawn of Satin
    >>like Bush

“spawn of SATIN”?? HAW! HAW HAW! I just KNEW you were a homo-secksual! SATIN! I’ll bet you know the difference between teal and fuschia too, don’cha?? Satin! How about velvet? Velour? Chantilly lace?
