Maybe it was the giant revolving model of a woman’s legs and lower torso, clad only in an unflattering crimson thong, or perhaps it was the oversized replica of a set of genitals. Either way, many residents in the south-west city of Chongqing are not happy about the development of China’s first sex theme park, which has been described as “vulgar” and inappropriate.

The park manager, Lu Xiaoqing, who was inspired by South Korea’s popular sex theme park in Jeju, says that Love Land, due to open in October, will improve sex education and help adults enjoy a harmonious sex life. Inside, visitors will be able to view naked human sculptures, giant replicas of genitals and an exhibition about the history of sex and sexual practices in other countries.

The park will also offer sex technique workshops and advise on anti-Aids measures and using condoms properly…

We are building the park for the good of the public. I have found that the majority of people support my idea, but I have to pay attention and not make the park look vulgar and nasty…”

Li said that while disapproval of sex stemmed from religion in the west, in China it was largely rooted in a traditional focus on the family instead of individual enjoyment – leading people to deplore premarital and extramarital sex.

I hear the “family values” crowd will send a delegation from Colorado Springs to picket within the week.

We need to have a contest to come up with the best ride names similar to the “Captain This Photo” posts. Let me think of a couple and I’ll post back.

  2. First theme park you know of….

  3. AdmFubar says:

tilt -a-whirl, the big dipper.. … prolly any roler coaster ride..
here in the states?? uhm we have washinton dc…
and airport bathroom stalls.. you can only ride those if your stance is wide enough..

  4. eyeofthetiger says:

I’d hate to see the menu for refreshments. The Chinese believe that eating other species… well it helps with being fertile.

  5. Ah_Yea says:

Why didn’t you post this article sooner??

I just got back from there!

    Damn…

  6. GetReal says:

This venture wouldn’t have a chance of being built in the USA.

But we are the “free” country.

  7. Count me in on this trip
    Think of all the travelers
Think of all the commerce and tourism
Think of being interrogated at the border as to where you have been and what you bought or brought back from your vacation

  8. amodedoma says:

Looks pretty sordid even by chinese standards.

  9. Li says:

I think the Korean version has the right sense of humor on the matter. The sculptures are better too.

Warning: NSFW naked asian women ahead!

  10. Li says:

Google led me to the JeJu loveland official web site. It’s better done than some non-perverted theme parks here in the states! I love the cartoon mascots.

  11. Chinese guys are hung like and amoeba, maybe “It’s a small, small world” is appropriate.

  12. Timuchin says:

Maybe Alcatraz could be bought and converted into a similar theme park, but with real prostitutes, children and dogs. I’m sure San Fransisco would give it a large amount of business.

  13. Gary, the dangerous infidel says:

God should have created us with removable genitals that could be detached and safely locked away until absolutely needed to create a god-loving family. Having these nasty things permanently attached is just a constant reminder of all the ways in which genitals can be frivolously misused, often diverting our attention from the performance of divine will.

Fortunately for us, the Lord hasn’t yet felt the need to drown us all and start over yet again.

  14. Timuchin says:

    Oh yeah, and sheep too.

  15. John E. Quantum says:

#14 “God should have created us with removable genitals that could be detached and safely locked away…”

The divine comedy is not the genitals themselves, but having arms with hands long enough to reach them, and the imperfect will to resist doing so

  16. Nimby says:

#13 – Sister? A nun who doesn’t like kake? Maybe you’re cloistered and prefer a good piece of pie.

#14 – Gary. Detachable genitalia? Sheesh! I’d have lost mine long ago. Now where did I put my glasses?

#1 – yankinwaoz. The rides have already been named. Jen Xiao and Mai Lee. Jen (57) and Mai (61) have been running rides for years. And like most amusement park rides, they will provide thrills and excitement to holders of “E” tickets. Rides will last exactly 1 minute 14 seconds and the wait for the ride will often exceed 2 hours. At the entrance to the ride is a sign: “You Must Be At Least This Long To Ride.”

  17. Billy Bob says:

I hear the anti-family values crowd will be scheduling mandatory field trips, backed by federal law, for 2nd graders next week.

  18. Uncle Patso says:

    Says the park manager:

“… I have to pay attention and not make the park look vulgar and nasty…”

    Too late!

  19. Glenn E. says:

So it’s Vegas, without the guilt. Just what the Chinese people need (NOT!). Encouragement to breed more freely. Forgetting that China already faces a huge overpopulation problem. And has State enforced birth limits (only one child per couple). What they don’t need is SEX EDUCATION. They’ve been doing just fine, all these decades. They need to “keep the breaks on” sex for a longer spell.

  20. Glenn E. says:

I wonder if they got the idea for this park from the ruins shown in the movie “A.I.”? Only that was a robotic pleasure park. I doubt this will be the Chinese equivalent of Delos.
