Is Rumsfeld right that the evidence shouldn’t be released? Whether it is or not, should Americans at any level who allowed it to happen be prosecuted, perhaps by handing them over to the mothers and the boys?

After Donald Rumsfeld testified on the Hill about Abu Ghraib in May, there was talk of more photos and video in the Pentagon’s custody more horrific than anything made public so far. “If these are released to the public, obviously it’s going to make matters worse,” Rumsfeld said. Since then, the Washington Post has disclosed some new details and images of abuse at the prison. But if Seymour Hersh is right, it all gets much worse.

Hersh gave a speech last week to the ACLU making the charge that children were sodomized in front of women in the prison, and the Pentagon has tape of it.

“Debating about it, ummm … Some of the worst things that happened you don’t know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib … The women were passing messages out saying ‘Please come and kill me, because of what’s happened’ and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It’s going to come out.”

The Telegraph and other news organizations described “a videotape, apparently made by US personnel, is said to show Iraqi guards raping young boys.” The Guardian reported “formal statements by inmates published yesterday describe horrific treatment at the hands of guards, including the rape of a teenage Iraqi boy by an army translator.”

    Two things.

1st. If the US want’s to have any moral authority to say to China, Russia, South Korea and any other ruthless evil regime, then; YES we have to prosecute people for WAR CRIMES.

2nd. History is prelude to the future. If the US doesn’t want this to ever happen again, then; YES we have to prosecute people for WAR CRIMES.

It’s painful, it’s humiliating, but; it’s the American thing to do, it’s the right thing to do!!!!!

If anyone says differently they should go live in China or Russia, because; they are not a real AMERICAN.

  2. Dan says:

Remember Winter Soldier and make sure this actually happened….although it does fit the overall political reality, and it will be helpful to Obama in the long run so whether it’s true or not, I’m going to spread the meme.

Screw Bush and anyone who thinks he’s not as bad as Hitler….at least Hitler was really elected!

  3. Nimby says:

Some of you are missing a very important point: IT WAS NOT US SOLDIERS DOING THE RAPING! If it even happened at all. We have a man’s claim that he is aware of a video. He should have produced it for examination. He claims a US soldier did the taping but doesn’t tell us the motive. Maybe he was documenting evidence for the Iraqi authorities. Let’s give the US soldiers the benefit of the doubt here until we know what, if anything, happened. I am not denying it happened, I’ve lived in Islamic countries and know of rapes of sons and daughters as interrogation tools. It;s just about the worst thing you can do to a family in many of the cultures. But, again, no knee jerks until we know the truth, please.

  4. Looking4Truth says:

So #35 is going to spread the meme, true or not…

Hey Dan! Is your last name Goebbels? Are you Obama’s self-appointed propaganda minister? You sound more like a Nazi, than Bushie’s Boys.

Just remember, the Nazi who ran the concentration camps, claimed they were only following orders too, it was BS then, as it is now.

Go after the ones who authorized what went on in that prison by all means, but don’t let those shameful bastards who discraced our nation, the ones who actually did the deed, get off scott-free.

Well if we live in a world where priests alter
    boys….

  6. Lou says:

It will take years to recover from Heir Fuhrer G W Bush and Field Marshal Rumy.

  7. Mr. Fusion says:

If the deniers don’t think any torture actually happened, why won’t they support the appointment of a Special Prosecutor to get to the bottom of the mess? That way we would know for certain how badly Americans have been mischaracterized.

  8. Mr. Fusion says:

55 years ago, what the Americans did in Abu Graib and Guantanamo during the Bush years, was called torture. Being kept in cold cells, whistles blowing constantly, perpetually handcuffed, …

Unless this was considered “harsh interrogation”.

  9. John Henry says:

I think the key phrase in that story is “If Seymour Hersh is right”

Hersh has a decades long history of either being flat out wrong as well as seriously distorting stories.

I’d wait to see someone else report this before getting excited.

  10. Hersh is Right says:

Sy Hersh is right. John Henry is another government shill. so many shills, so little time.

these scum that did this need to be put to death.

  11. patriot says:

Protect your freedom and liberty, shoot a politician

  12. carl says:

I think the fact that they refused to release the videos is proof the videos are far worse than what was released. Sadly, logic dictates these things probably did happen – and that means children were probably raped in front of their mothers. And “soldiers” were taking photos and recording!! Sick, twisted, deranged, cowardly “soldiers.”
