Swiss officials say they are powerless to act against identical twins who have run-up hundreds of parking tickets and blamed each other for the offences.

They say they cannot punish Harold and Michael Lengen, 38, for parking offences committed while driving around Winterthur.

Police say that in the last year alone the twins have collected 29 parking tickets on a car which they both share.

But every time they refuse to pay them and tell courts that the other was driving.

Uh.. I guess powerless is as good a word as any.

Thanks, K B

Oh come on. I suppose if one of them robbed a store, and blamed the other, nothing would be done? Come fucking on.

  2. faxon says:

The vehicle is tagged, not the driver. Whoever is the registered owner is liable, so both of them are liable. Geez. What is wrong here? Cops and politicians  usually know how to fuck people over, these guys need a refresher course.

  3. jim says:

well, it’s not as bad as the 300+ parking tickets that some cabbie got in boston within6 months without a moving violation. at least he got to write a driving book about that.  .

  4. Paddy-O says:

Umm, did they ever think of writing parking tickets against the vehicle?  Next time the owner tries to renew the veh license/registration…

  5. Nimby says:

    Solomon:
    Total fines =$X.
Brother A will pay 1/2 the total.
Brother B will pay 1/2 the total.
Brothers will also split a 30 day jail sentence for using a genetic accident to screw with the system!

  6. SPiry says:

You want the truth pull a king Solomon on them.  Charge each of them seperatly for the 29 tickets then the one who earned the least would come forward.  Works every time.

And this comment thing is messed up.  Can The Great John C. Dvorak come down from his thrown and fix this thing.  or are you switching to that square place and you don’t care?

Karmas a bitch.  You know these guys will end up with pubes on their Domino’s pizza.

  8. One whole in this winning system would be for the twins to have access to only one car.
If the family allowed them use to more than one car it could provide proof – who was who and who was driving
Still good for them for beating the rap.  Here in Winnipeg Manitoba we have nothing but trouble with these pesky red light cameras.  We can thank our spineless Manitoba politicians for that.

Stupid format. Insists on typing from the right. What the hell?

  10. Uncle Patso says:

    How slapstick!

    “I’m Keyser Soze.”

    “No, _I_ am Keyser Soze.”

I just can’t deal with this oddball text entry method.

  11. Ron Larson says:

    This is so dumb
The registered owner of the car is responsible

  12. soundwash says:

    maybe i should produce a twin…

(seems flawed to me. owner of the car is
    responsible for all penalties, afaik)

i have $5200+ in tickets from the 90’s i still get
hassled about. -even though i have a handicap card
which i present to the judge(s) in court.

since i fail to mail in a copy of the card
with the ticket and wait until court to get it
handled, i’m told i’m still lible.

-twice the the judge was in a chair too.
(i’m a spinal cord injury guy and a chair
    as well.

so the logic is, even though the ticket was written in
error, -since i took too long to answer the summons
and allowed penalties to acrue, i’m still lible.

-as far as i’m concerned they can take the ticket
    and stuffit.

(i have a problem with mailing things and prefer to
    handle them in person)

imo, this is what happens when you lower the (I.Q)
standards of those in any position of authority.

SOMEBODY PLEASE SET THE COMMENT BOX TO LEFT JUSTIFIED.!

-or revert back to the old system until you get it sorted!

  14. Cephus says:

It’s easy. Get both of them in court at the same time, say nobody is leaving until the fines are paid.

    Problem solved.

  15. great tips. I enjoyed reading this
