    The horror……the horror……

  2. FRAGaLOT says:

Wow such a conservative bias this video has. Rush Limbaugh made this?

And for the last fucking time, Obama’s speech was *NOT* a “State of the Union Address.”

  3. Nitroneo says:

    Roflmao

  4. eaze says:

    Was that Adam Curry’s voice?

  5. Mr. Fusion says:

    #10, Bobbo,

In fairness to Cow-Patty, I think you might have missed his point. Although he is fully capable of explaining himself, well, to a small degree, it appears he meant to say something along the lines of “Hey look at me, I’m a blathering idiot that doesn’t have an effen clue what I’m talking about”.

  6. bobbo says:

#11–Fusion==you give Paddy Zero too much credit. I don’t think he does realize other people can read his posts. He’s JUST a blithering idiot with no concept of his humanity (sic).

  7. bobbo says:

#13–Paddy Zero==again, don’t you realize people read this blog? Once again, you make no sense of all. Your prose is the poetry of your private allusions. I’m sure you are actually thinking of “something”–but its not obvious from what you write.

Pining for pre-FDR times. What a dolt.

  8. Wretched Gnu says:

That could have been very funny… But video comedy is all about timing, snappy editing and swatting down redundancy whenever it rears its head.

But for some reason conservatives have never been good at this. They just have no comedic discipline. They can’t help themselves: they can’t keep their righteousness at bay, and inevitably they let repetition and plain old heavy-handedness sneak in. This is not to say liberals aren’t righteous — but for some reason, liberals know how to keep it out of their comedy so that it remains funny.

One way liberals do so is that they allow a certain self-mockery to sit side-by-side with their satire. This is something that conservatives, for whatever reason, just cannot bring themselves to do. When they do political satire, they forbid themselves from poking fun at themselves at the same time. You have to admit it must have something to do with their ideology, which is all about “We are pure Goodness” and “They are pure badness” — because any other stance would be relativistic, etc.

So the problem for conservatives is that comedy requires the kind of “relativistic” detachment that allows for self-mockery.

May be it was but it sounded effeminate… perhaps he was all giggly with the silliness of what he was doing. If it was Adam, you go girl.

  10. vomitloaf says:

    #15. Very. Well. Said.

  11. Hatman says:

    #9, Paddy-O,

Who want’s to be a super power? What is the upside? all you get is hundreds of nuclear missiles pointed at you, poor educational standards, extreme poverty in inner cities, a massive gap between rich and poor, and new war every other year. Yeah that sounds appealing, but then you might just win say one in five wars.
