The Center for Consumer Freedom

WASHINGTON DC – Today the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) published documents online showing that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed 95 percent of the adoptable pets in its care during 2008. Despite years of public outrage over its euthanasia program, the animal rights group kills an average of 5.8 pets every day at its Norfolk, VA headquarters.

According to public records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, PETA killed 2,124 pets last year and placed only seven in adoptive homes. Since 1998, a total of 21,339 dogs and cats have died at the hands of PETA workers.

Can you say hypocrites?

    Misanthropic Scott,

Thank you for getting angry and researching CCF. Your efforts have saved me the effort and time. There are few here that would bother to verify any information they are given. It is always so much easier to just rant on how Obama is screwing the country.

I neither support PETA nor condemn them for everything. Their actions are a little stronger than I like even if I agree with their stance on cruelty.

  2. #71 – Mr Fusion,

In case you check back … I just hate when I see a press release posted as news. So, when I realized it was a press release, I did a little checking into who was releasing to the press and how reliable they are.

Another point I realized later, which is now way too late to make a useful point here, but will post it anyway.

If they want to convince people that PETA is euthanizing animals, it is less effective proof and more underhanded to search for documents that can barely be read than it is to simply point us at PETA’s statement where they admit this freely.

Stating it as an Aha moment and making it sound as if they revealed some deep dark secret when PETA has statements about it on their web site is just nasty and deceitful.
