Sorry, but Al Gore sounds like he’s a flabbergasted 12-year-old trying to sound smart.

  1. Mike says:

I’m looking forward to the Jenny McCarthy debate on ‘Vaccines, History and Practice.’

    http://is.gd/ojPY

  2. hfidek says:

they call that debate when nobody speak to each other?
no matter what you think about climate change we still need to reduce pollution for an health point .

  3. Noel says:

Neither of these groups are anywhere near correct. All the clips of Al Gore in this video are from An Inconvenient Truth and all the others are from The Great Global Warming Swindle. So this is one point of view and a planned response to it. Not much of a debate. In any case The Great Global Warming Swindle has been massively discredited by the scientific community, including two scientists featured in the movie who felt they were misrepresented.

  4. JimR says:

It seems that temperature may activate a CO2 increase, not the other way around. Too bad the debate is over.

Up next, the IPCC models the intelligent design of hurricane frequency.

  5. Deep Throat says:

Follow the money. End of discussion.

  6. ArianeB says:

Sorry John, Al Gore is right though. Deny all you want but it is happening, the evidence is overwhelming.

  7. Parts Per Million says:

Whenever anyone states a core sample measurement that can precisely pinpoint “so and so” from 650,000 years ago you know you are getting slimed.

  8. Thermo says:

    @ArianeB.
Please go back to school and get an education.
Al Gore mentions that we can study the layers like the rings on a tree from the MELTING and REFREEZING of the ice. He is therefor admitting that for as far back as we can measure the ice has been melting (this couldn’t have been man made) and refreezing again. This is exactly what is going on now. There is no change in this cycle since before man was on the earth.

  9. FRAGaLOT says:

This is true, and this has always been the original reason for controlling pollution. But extremists have to keep adding more bullshit to this to scare people into being less polluting.

First it was all about not polluting, littering, etc. All common sense stuff. Then we had the El Nino thing which became a complete joke during the 90s, then there was global cooling that lasted a couple years before what we have now with global warming.

The more environmentalists make it sound like we are effecting everyone, and everything is what makes people get scared. Soon they are going to expand this panic to an even more larger scale than it was before, just to freak people out more and try to control their every-day behavior. Perhaps some sort of pending disaster with our solar system if we don’t act immediately, or something just as ridiculous.

  10. bobbo says:

#7–Thermo==tree rings/ice cores also show that man has been dying on average about every 30 years in the past but only every 72 years now.

So it should make no difference if I drive over you in a truck.

  11. suckit says:

    @Thermo
I’m sorry thermo maybe you need to go back to school to understand the difference between the melting and refreezing of a small LAYER of ice that happens between seasons and the global rise in temperature that is causing the melting of all the ice. Ice that has been frozen all year around for recorded history but that is either smaller or gone entirely is a pretty big deal. I’m sure none of us here are climate scientists. Maybe a better title for this article would be “Al Gore(because he is an easier target instead of the thousands of climate scientists that do believe in CO2 caused climate change) vs 7 climate (not so much scientists as paid for representatives of a viewpoint provided to them along with a check) in a video clip to video clip with no real debate fake debate.

  12. ArianeB says:

Thermo, you completely miss the whole point of AGW theory, and you are nicky picking on completely irrelevant points.

Of course the earth goes through warming and cooling cycles in the past for many different reasons.

The current reason is increased carbon dioxide. Ice layer analysis shows that we have never had more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere than we do today, in fact it is more than double any time in history.

The primary source of this increased carbon dioxide is the burning of fossil fuels: oil coal, etc. which we never really did much until 150 years ago.

Increased CO2 correlates with increased fossil fuel usage which correlates with increased temperatures. Every scientist not on the oil industry payroll agrees wih this analysis.

While temps have risen in the past, they have never risen as fast as they are now, and nature is currently unable to keep up. While there are natural mechanisms to break down CO2 gas, they simply cannot keep up with what is happening today.

  13. faxon says:

So… It’s very similar to the fact that my getting older is causing time to pass.

  14. Raster says:

#11 – agree up to your last point:

Nature doesn’t have to ‘keep up’.

She counts the years in millions – extinction is always an option.

  15. Pete says:

Gee, Gore may sound like “a flabbergasted 12-year-old trying to sound smart” but some o’ them scientists got ACCENTS and that’s worse. That’s you decide this stuff, right?

  16. Shubee says:

    # 3 Your claim of “massively discredited” is massively exaggerated. Overall, there are plenty of facts in The Great Global Warming Swindle to make it a fantastically entertaining film.
    http://everythingimportant.org/global_warming

  17. ArianeB says:

#13 I get your point, a point not considered by the “deniers”.

There is this irrational belief that humans are incapable of destroying the Earth. This is only true if you consider life continuing without humans on it. Humans are very capable of ruining Earth to the point that Humans can no longer survive on it.

Be very afraid of the ecosystem’s mechanism to correct itself, it will do so by destroying us!

  18. gitmoscum says:

Gore: “I don’ no nutin ’bout birthin’ no babies..”

Dems: “Whoa! A genius! Fuckin’ A! Go fer it, Al!”

Obama: “Now’s my chance! If they are THAT fuckin stupid…….”

  19. CC says:

It seems to me that co2 is a sign of life. I like life.

  20. gmknobl says:

Well, too bad gore is essentially right where the (not really) scientists are either wrong or lying, take your pick.

  21. Jim says:

Well John, it’s be nice and way more helpful for somebody to actually be DEBATING.

I really dislike sites that misrepresent what they actually are doing — which is presenting a documentary with their own opinions plastered on top of it with clownish graphics.

Please find real, actual, physical human debates between all these people and I’ll be much more inclined to actually listen.

This sort of crap does nothing to help any side of the debate, it just parrots two sides and then “duh, you, like, should make a decision.”

We REALLY need mandatory debating classes back in schools and colleges.

  22. GregA says:

The best way to determine how a particular scientist feels about global waring is to ask them how they feel about passive smoking.

All the sudden the argument becomes about common sense again, and its case fucking closed.

  23. algore says:

Man-made global warming was developed to separate liberal fools from their money…

  24. GregA says:

    #22,

Passive smoking. Does it cause cancer?

  25. Ivor Biggun says:

Bottom line is this: If the ice is melting on the poles, where is the massive rise in sea level that follows? There is no rise in sea level so there cannot be the massive loss of ice that algore and his cult are speaking of.

  26. GregA says:

    #24,

No the bottom line is, do you accept passive smoking theory?

  27. algore says:

passive smoking and global warming are two different things. I guess male pattern baldness causes it to rain…What a dumbass…So if you believe that passive smoking causes cancer than you must believe that co2 produced by man causes global warming….

  28. algore says:

So GregA, how much money have you lost to Al Gore?

  29. algore says:

Im planning on installing a couple of carbon credit ATM machines in the SF airport with a couple of plasma screens overhead playing a loop of some really dastardly sounding music with a polar bear floating on a block of ice then cutting to a Jet flying with those long contrails and then a screen with how much jet fuel is burned on a coast to coast flight. GregA and his buddies will make me rich!

  30. GregA says:

One down. How many more to go? See that, wasn’t that easy?

    Any other takers?
