hannity-ron-paulYep… Definitely Terrorists

COLUMBIA, Mo. | A new document meant to help Missouri law enforcement agencies identify militia members or domestic terrorists has drawn criticism for some of the warning signs mentioned.

The Feb. 20 report called “The Modern Militia Movement” mentions such red flags as political bumper stickers for third-party candidates, such as U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, who ran for president last year; talk of conspiracy theories, such as the plan for a superhighway linking Canada to Mexico; and possession of subversive literature.

“It seems like they want to stifle political thought,” said Roger Webb, president of the University of Missouri campus Libertarians. “There are a lot of third parties out there, and none of them express any violence. In fact, if you join the Libertarian Party, one of the things you sign in your membership application is that you don’t support violence as a means to any ends.” But state law enforcement officials said the report is being misinterpreted.

Lt. John Hotz of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the report comes from publicly available, trend data on militias.
“All this is an educational thing,” Hotz said of the report. “Troopers have been shot by members of groups, so it’s our job to let law enforcement officers know what the trends are in the modern militia movement.”

But Tim Neal, a military veteran and delegate to last year’s state GOP convention, was shocked by the report’s contents.

“I was going down the list and thinking, ‘Check, that’s me,'” he said. “I’m a Ron Paul supporter, check. I talk about the North American union, check. I’ve got the ‘America: Freedom to Fascism’ video loaned out to somebody right now. So that means I’m a domestic terrorist? Because I’ve got a video about the Federal Reserve?” Neal, who has a Ron Paul bumper sticker on his car, said the next time he is pulled over by a police officer, he won’t know whether it’s because he was speeding or because of his political views.

“If a police officer is pulling me over with my family in the car and he sees a bumper sticker on my vehicle that has been specifically identified as one that an extremist would have in their vehicle, the guy is probably going to be pretty apprehensive and not thinking in a rational manner,” Neal said. “And this guy’s walking up to my vehicle with a gun.”

  1. MikeN says:

Yea, sounds reasonable. They should also include anything by Al Gore in the list, as indicated by the Unabomber.

I’d still like to see an analysis of pedophiles, and whether it’s true that they have Star Trek paraphenalia.

  2. bobbo says:

    Whatsamattayou? Can’t stand the truth???

The TRUTH is that members of groups are more a threat than members of the two main parties.

The fact that further profiling would be even more accurate does not deny the general validity of the “first cut.”

Same with anyone who is “different.” Almost by definition, different people create more problems than people who are the same.

Christ people, how can we protect America from change if we don’t get pro-active?

  3. dilbert says:

Try to imagine my contempt for cops and federal assholes at this point. Just try.

  4. Paddy-O says:

    # 2 bobbo said, “The TRUTH is that members of groups are more a threat than members of the two main parties.”

    Really? Study please.

  5. Mike says:

    Paddy-O said ‘Really? Study please.’

    The irony.

  6. bobbo says:

#4–Paddy==”Study Please.” hah, hah. Good one Paddy. Way to play along.

  7. dildo says:

I work for a great metropolitan newspaper. Er. Strike that. I work for a great metropolitan tv news network… Yea. That’s it. A great metropolitan news gathering organization, with national coverage. Alphabet comes to mind.

Anyway, I suppose these same assholes will track me down because I say that they are complete pricks, and I am ready for them. Fuck them. All of ’em.

  8. dildo says:

I work for a great metropolitan newspaper. Er. Strike that. I work for a great metropolitan tv news network… Yea. That’s it. A great metropolitan news gathering organization, with national coverage. Alphabet comes to mind.

So, I see it is now hazardous to exercise your First Amendment Rights, the Second Amendment is going down as soon as the prick Obama gets around to it, and the Congress is in the hands of lunatics. Great.

I will be doing my best to let the people know.

  9. Improbus says:

It doesn’t matter who is in “charge” … the police state and the New World Order continue apace. Interfere at your own peril.

  10. laxdude says:

Look people, this is good profiling. It is not saying that EVERYONE with a Ron Paul sticker is a cop killing terrorist, just that people who are cop killing terrorists have been known to identify with Ron Paul. So, of the 20 danger signs ONE of them is a Ron Paul sticker.

For instance. Say you are a trooper and have pulled over a beat up full sized van with no windows. One has a Greatfull Dead mural on the side, the other has a confederate flag. Which one has the greater threat value?

It is also why if you have one of those Calvin takes a leak on (blank) stickers on your truck, you are probably an asshole.

  11. Dave W says:

Excuse me, but Ron Paul ran and has served for umpteen years in the United States Congress as a Republican! Are they now a “third party”?

Oh, and I banned all political bumper stickers from my vehicles/home years ago, partly because I know good and well that the cops take a dim view. Just two small round stickers now. One Southern Pacific, the other Santa Fe.

  12. Jim says:

Anyone who puts stickers on their car is making a statement. To random, anonymous people. That are behind them.

Do I care what they want to say when I’m behind them? No.

Do I think they are stupid? Yes.

  13. Troublemaker says:

“Troopers have been shot by members of groups”

    Good!

  14. Mr. Fusion says:

I’m really bothered by this. Yes, I think most Liebertarians are more than a little wacko, as evidenced by our own group here at DU.

The very idea that someone would be profiled at all is repugnant. That they would be profiled because of a political statement is atrocious. Whomever came up with this idea and whomever defends it should be demoted.

“It is also why if you have one of those Calvin takes a leak on (blank) stickers on your truck, you are probably an asshole.”

I always wanted to put one of those on the back of a truck with the sticker taking a leak into the halo of the Dale Earnhart sticker.

I’m just too afraid of the Earnhart fanatics…cops don’t bother me.

  16. George says:

    Oh Bullshit!

All the cop murders in my town since 2000 (5 of them) have been committed by blacks. Not exactly Ron Paul’s demographic.

The thing is that if someone even tried to identify a potential threat vehicle as having a set of 22″ rims, a vinyl top, and a Bob Marley bumpersticker, they’d be crucified.

The truth is that the prisons are full of “Democrats”.

  17. Guyver says:

13, Israel has been profiling for a while now. When’s the last time you’ve heard of one of their airplanes getting hijacked? It gets results, but it’s not politically correct, especially in a heterogeneous society as ours.

As for Libertarians, the party is fractured. Case in point there has been disagreement from noted Libertarians and some of the Libertarian Party’s platform (i.e. Iraq War). Just like the Democratic Party has been taken over by liberals, the Libertarian Party has been taken over by those who don’t represent a certain segment of the spectrum.

As for Ron Paul, I think he he makes a lot of sense when he talks money. I think he’s unrealistic when he talks about foreign affairs IMHO.

  18. JimR says:

Re: #16, FYI George, your insinuations are unfounded. A little research… just 5-10 minutes… and you wouldn’t have sounded so racist.
    link to FBI statistics

    Profile of alleged known assailants
In 2007, 62 alleged offenders were identified in connection with law enforcement officers feloniously killed. Of those offenders, the following characteristics are known:

The average age of the alleged offenders was 29 years old.
The average height was 5 feet 9 inches tall, and the average weight was 177 pounds.
All 62 of the alleged offenders were male.
35 of the alleged offenders were white; 24 were black; and 3 were Asian/Pacific Islander.
Most of the alleged offenders, 58 of the 62, had prior criminal arrests.
19 of the alleged offenders were under judicial supervision at the time of the incidents.
11 of the alleged offenders were intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal incidents.

  19. Benjamin says:

I can see where this might come in handy. Your average Libertarian or Ron Paul supporter might actually be educated about their rights.

Potential situation: cop pulls over Ron Paul supporter.

Cop [has hand resting on holstered gun] : please step out of the vehicle.

Libertarian [steps out of vehicle]: What is this about.

Cop: I’ll be doing the talking here. [starts to pad down Libertarian]

Libertarian: I do not consent to any search.

Cop: Do you have any knives or weapons?

Libertarian: I will only answer questions in the presence of an attorney.

Previously the cop would just write a ticket for why he pulled him over. The libertarian would fight it in court and …

Now, the cop will just arrest him for terrorism, and have him renditioned for not drinking the Obama Kool-aid.

It actually saves time and it still works if the cop forgot to bring his little baggie of crack to “find” when he searches the vehicle.

  20. Mr Diesel says:

George said “in his town”, not anywhere else.

He didn’t sound racist, he sounded like he knew the facts as they relate to his town, not a Google search.

U.S. Government celebrates one millionth member of terrorist watch list

WASHINGTON – The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center celebrated a major milestone last week when the nation’s terrorist watch list reached one million members.

To mark the event, the FBI and the ODNI are planning celebrations and media events throughout the remainder of the year, including commemorative memorabilia, such as stationery, coffee cups and apparel, and highly visible signage at airports and border crossings that will center around the program’s new tagline: The U.S. Terrorist Watch List: One Million Strong … and Growing …

  23. orangetiki says:

so would they put a lamp post on the watch list if it had a ron paul sticker on it? Because that is usually where I see Rp stickers.

  25. Lou Minatti says:

Ron Paul is a racist psycho and his fans are paranoid mouth-breathing morons, but this is way too much. Shame on Missouri.

  26. deowll says:

I think the cops would be well advised to go with number 19 and for God’s sake be careful when dealing with domestic disputes!

I was thinking about reading Hitler’s and Linen’s works just to see how they matched up with what’s coming out of Washington D.C.

If I do no doubt that will be put into the government data base and held against me.

  27. Jim says:

#27. Well said….coming from a knuckle dragging piece of shit.

  28. Floyd says:

I read Ron Paul’s wiki today. He takes some stands that are very un-Libertarian, such as being strongly anti-abortion.

  29. Jim says:

That’s because he’s an obstetrician by trade.

  30. FRAGaLOT says:

    @11
Exactly what I was thinking. I do recall voting for Ron Paul in the republican primary last year. If Ron Paul was a “third party candidate” he wouldn’t have appeared on my ballot. This must be something new, even to Ron Paul. Did he recently switch parties, or what?
