I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that he played most of his own instruments on his LPs. Which is sort of why he sucked, you miss the spontaneous energy of interplay when you do it all yourself. Does anyone really think the Who would have been worth listening too if Pete Townsend played everything himself?
He’s an amazing musician. I always knew he played just about everything on his records, but I’ve liked his music forever, except for some disco shit he did.
My old studio manager used to say: “If I could play drums as well as blindfolded Stevie Wonder, I could make millions”. Now I know why, he had either seen this TV show or live gig.
I heard a long time ago that SW could play everything but guitar, and in my book he did a pretty darn good job of overdubbing all the stuff on those 70’s records he did. Jack of all trades, master of none? Perhaps, but it was the inspiration in his tunesmithing skills that made him worth listening to, I think, however he did it. A good entertainer, as well.
For Kindle and with free ePub version. Only $9.49 Great reading.
Here is what Gary Shapiro CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) said: Dvorak's writing sings with insight and clarity. Whether or not you agree with John's views, he will get you thinking and is never boring. These essays are worth the read!
Who knew?

I’m pretty sure that the other drummer was thinking “I could do that drum solo blindfolded.”
#2. “Does anyone really think the Who would have been worth listening too ..”. I’m still waiting for that.
#2 Yea, Stevie sucked and yet he is one of the biggest stars in music history.
What the hell you been reading, “spontaneous energy of interplay”.

Not a huge fan, but the guy is undoubtedly an unusual talent.

Isn’t it amazing how someone with Stevie’s disability can accomplish so much in his life. I am truly amazed now more than ever.

He’s one of the best harmonica players around.
