I guess the four punches to the face kind of negates the “pepper spray.” And will not do much for the lawsuit. What a farce. Do we have any backgound on this arrest?
This is a problem in a system where only the DA can bring criminal charges. Change it to allow citizens to bring charges and this kind of stuff will be stomped out.
I love the fact that the cop sprayed himself. Which means that it was the cyclists fault and he needed backup to ensure she got a good beating for letting him spray himself.
She was seen riding her bike on the sidewalk.
Whatever they arrest her for, the fine will be doubled according to the sign overhead of her.
The woman (and I’m taking your word on that) clearly jerked away from the officer when he was there alone and tried to put her hand under her coat. She also continued to fight with the officers throughout the arrest.
As far as the cop peppering himself. If you look at the fog or smoke or whatever it is, it is clearly moving right to left at a pretty good speed that means the wind is high and now you know why cops like tasers better than pepper spray.

No reason for her to be on the sidewalk other than she is wearing a black coat, on a dark night, looks like it’s foggy.
Either way, cop peppered himself, when he did it, she pulled away to protect herself. I can’t stand this resisting arrest stuff. If you are being assulted, sprayed or tackeled, you have the right to protect yourself from harm. Clearly the cops aren’t going to protect you from themselves harming you.
I think she should be allowed to, at minimum, deliver him a cock punch.

You try to rationalize this idiot’s unprofessional attempt to issue at ticket to a bicyclist. He sprays himself in the face, then punches the handcuffed woman in the face. You suggest that this is a good reason to let this asshole have a taser so he can make another unprofessional move and murder the woman for riding a bike on a sidewalk. I suggest you put yourself in her place for a split-second.If you still try to make excuses for this guy, you’re as much of a menace to society as he is.
Its like riding a bicycle where I live,it just gives the Police an excuse to stop and f#ck You up. You can’t ride on the sidewalk and riding by the curb invites getting beaned with a beer bottle or dirty diaper and then there is the law enforcement gauntlet to consider.
I have been hit with everything from west coast mirrors to used tampons,trying to stay in shape and saving money. After administering/receiving a few ass whippings and paying the fines and emergency room bills, I’ve come to the conclusion that it just doesn’t make economic sense to ride a bike.
I shouldn’t be surprised I guess, living as I do in the buckle of the Bible belt where a 4WD is mandatory to participate in civic activities but parking it in view of the street is illegal. Also illegal is window air conditioning on the curb side of the house and concrete paving with less than a 1 inch fall from crown over a six foot span.

Cops have a hard time and get blamed for all sorts of things. They take the flak for all manner of unjust reasons.

That one of the three cops needs bashing, not all cops, or even all three. The other two were probably only aware of someone resisting arrest. The fact that the justification for the original arrest was dubious should have resulted in no charges. Charging the errant cop is a separate issue.
I don’t get the whole not riding bicycle on sidewalk laws. Cars and trucks ride on streets. You think this is angry – find him after he goes squirt without washing his hands.
Where did you see that he was issueing a ticket for riding a bike on the sidewalk? For all we know she just ass raped two nuns.
Now that’s what I call criminal, wow, riding bike on the sidewalk. That’s some serious criminal offence, girl resisted arrest, so they let her have it. I must be getting old, I remember when a cop was somebody you could trust and you could ride bike on the sidewalk on a dark foggy night when your bike doesn’t have proper lights and you’d probrably get killed on the road. Safest thing for everybody was for her to be on the sidewalk. What in the hell was this guys mindset? Was he bored? was she suspicious? I don’t know but the more of this crap I see the better I feel about having emmigrated from the US years ago.
So, he sprayed himself? While standing right next to his target like that? What a douche. No wonder the guy with the water bottle at the end of the 2nd clip is smiling.

Its a race thing in this instance, who are we kidding? White female rider, **maybe** gets a stern warning about her sidewalk riding and no bicycle light, and maybe no helmet BUT, very likely, no ticket! A black female, its rousting kick-ass time for a bored cop with a racist attitude.
The process of hiring cops should include very extensive and tough-as-hell psychological testing to weed out the macho-morons who were the bullies in school and after that bit of fun, want a job where they can get paid and have legal immunity for being assholes.

It’s not illegal to ride your bike on the sidewalk. It’s just illegal to be black while doing it. These cops could be protecting the streets from the scum of the earth, instead they decide to harass a woman on a bicycle. Really macho!!! These cops are a disgrace to the uniform. Of course the cop left the force… He was probably laughed out by all the real cops.

The other two cops were complicit in this arrest. A person is allowed to resist a false arrest.
