1. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

    Sinn Fein…

Me and my family are alive today due to the fact that I wasn’t FDNY on 9/11, nor in the towers or on those planes. We’re alive because I’m not in the National Guard or the Marines.

Bush didn’t protect me from anything that any and every president wouldn’t have also protected me from. But he killed and mutilated a lot of good Americans finishing his poppa’s war, and that’s something no other president would have done. So am I supposed to be thankful for that?

I might have died the other day from the salmonella I got from some peanut butter crackers, the likely result of his relaxation of food safety inspectors. But luckily, all I did was shoot out some neocon nonsense for a couple hours.

  2. bobbo says:

#58–Contempt==you are a real idiot. Not because you are as stupid as you post because that is nothing but a transparent attempt to manipulate, and not very well done as performed by yourself, but because you delude yourself as being clever, which you are not.

“more responsible” cannot be wrong by definition and you are a fool to resort to BS “we the people.”

The correct order factually is: C,B,D,A but legally is B,C,D,A.

    Neotard.

  3. Improbus says:

You trolls on the left and right fall for this crap time after time. A totally Pavlovian response. This “story” is all about page views.

  4. contempt says:

    #62 little dog bobbo

I am shocked that you would give me a failing grade on your test?

  5. bobbo says:

#60–SL==reasonable “sounding” post. Both parties have failed at balancing the budget except under Clinton with a Gingrich led Congress both operating under a tech bubble. Good times.

When the government takes your money does it matter whether or not it is income tax, capital gains, or payroll based? Clearly the answer is No. Likewise in cutting taxes.

Stupid Republicans hate being called on it.

  6. bobbo says:

#64–Retarded Contempt who can’t even read: I could not even give you an F. You failed, yes, by not even taking the test.

You see repuglican obfuscation only works on the brain dead religious and the delusional wanta be rich boy fantacists.

Can’t buy a clue, can’t be given a clue, won’t understand the direct answer.

What happened to you Contempt? Never got a hug?

  7. Sea Lawyer says:

#66, Payroll taxes exist for the very specific purpose of funding the social security program. The benefit you receive from that program is based on the amount of taxes you paid into the system. Giving people a welfare check in the guise of a refund of their income taxes because of the rationale that “oh, well they are paying SS taxes too” just further turns the whole system into a redistribution scheme.

Taxes are for the purpose of funding the government, not to serve as another direct welfare entitlement.

  8. QB says:

Bush Administration. Sounds like a chain Brazilian waxing outlets.

  9. contempt says:

    #67 little dog bobbo

Touch a nerve did I? You must have stayed up all night concocting that set up question.

I did give you the correct answer though. The answer “We the people” is correct because it all boils down to “what we permit, we allow.”

  10. bobbo says:

#68–SL==you approach the truth. Government is all about a redistribution scheme and little else. The only live issue is who gives and who gets, at what level and thru what mechanism, and how to keep incumbents in office.

Simple really. Its all about money, its always about money. Everything else is BS. Its BS to think anyone “earns” it in a manner that they should be beyond taxation to redistribute it. Its BS to think anyone deserves to be given welfare regardless of terminology or mechanism.

The PRAGMATIC ISSUE has always been what policies make for the best society we can have?

    It rarely gets addressed.

  11. bobbo says:

    # 70–what part of “you are an idiot” do you think you can overcome?

  12. Paddy-O says:

The actual question is: Can we survive the Omama Years?

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123310466514522309.html

Look at all the useless pork. Should be named the Hormel bill, not the Stimulus Bill.

The biggest scam ($ value wise) attempted against the US Tax payer in history.

  13. contempt says:

    #72 little dog bobbo

    Pearls before swine.

  14. bobbo says:

Aphorisms can be helpful when people agree on the issues. Being as off-point and bumper stickerish as you are, do you think you are offering pearls? Or just the kernel of the irritant?

No, just the pollution that even a mollusk will protect itself from.

  15. Breetai says:

I didn’t. At least my belief that government is controlled democratically died. That’s when I found out it was controlled by an outright Oligarchy that’s actually pretty much in your face about but people are stupid enough to ignore it.

  16. Sea Lawyer says:

#76, only 535 people get to vote on the laws that affect 300 million, only 1 person gets to make the final approval.

So which died first? The naive belief that having democratically elected representatives/senators removes the taint of an elitist mentality from such a small body, or that in a “democratic” system, the minority group gets its way just as often as the majority group does, especially where few things trump party affiliation in importance.

  17. bobbo says:

#78–SL==you gotta break that down for me. I got the first choice, but you lost me on the second one. I’d like to give your thoughts my honest consideration.

If you choose a second go, be reminded of my favorite response when offered a choice: I choose both as most choices are false ones.

Maybe with the given that both ideas have died, and the question of which came first really is unimportant unless number one led to number 2?

As to your second formative point, the minority most often does not get its way nor should it so a loss there would be a good thing==in a democratic system?

  18. Sea Lawyer says:

#79, why would somebody complain about the government being run by an oligarchy as long as they are a majority of those few who get to make the rules?

  19. bobbo says:

#80–SL==is that an explanation or a whole new subject?

I think most of our Founding Fathers, atleast in myth, would complain of a ruling oligarchy even if they were members of it.

Some people are righteously motivated by democracy in theory and practice. I don’t think that includes anyone in Congress today===WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Corruption can become so pernicious that the body must die to be replaced by another branch on the evolutionary tree. I think in america, we are pretty well stuck. Money won the day and we are just slowly dying. Yet people will still feel privileged to have a little bit more than the next guy. Its how empires fall.

  20. Sea Lawyer says:

#81, you will also remember then, that for these exact reasons they constructed a Constitution which has a primary trait of only granting the federal government the minimal powers which are absolutely necessary, and no more.

As you appear to be an advocate of wealth redistribution, you surely must recognize that politicians who can claim the power to do such a thing will use it for the purpose of gaining and maintaining their power base. Yes, money won the day, and it’s not nearly as simple as an being envelope slipped under the door.

  21. James Hill says:

More angry liberal worship. This fixation on the past will not serve you in ’10.

  22. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

    We love you, James.

  23. Paddy-O says:

    Sheeple unite!

If you have ANY understanding why this graph looks the way it does, you will be longing for the last years…

  24. LibertyLover says:

#85, But, Paddy-O, Bush wasn’t president in 1967. How can this graph be accurate?

Do you mean to tell me that our problems span decades and it’s not because of one man?

    So many questions!!!

  25. Rick Cain says:

    Just barely.

  26. Paddy-O says:

    # 86 LibertyLover said, “#85, But, Paddy-O, Bush wasn’t president in 1967. How can this graph be accurate?”

Not yet. The new text books are still being written. Bush will be listed as the US Dictator from 1967 – 2008. LOL

  27. Paddy-O says:

    Okay editors:

Time to start a contest to see who can find all the pork.

    John Dvorak: Maybe a thread:

  28. deowll says:

I’m just hoping that in four years we aren’t going to be looking back to the Bush years as the good old days.

  29. MikeN says:

Surprisingly the media hasn’t made an example of Obama trying to walk through a window at the White House. For Bush this was just another example of stupidity.
