Sniper rifle software launched for iPod touch – Telegraph — Let’s see how long before this idea shows up on a TV show.

A new application has been launched for the iPod touch to help gun users line up a clean shot at their target.

The BulletFlight app, which costs £6.99 to download from the iTunes store, has been developed by Runaway App to turn the iPod touch into a ballistics computer which the company says can provide “quick solutions in the field”.

Users can mount their iPod touch to their rifle, and then use the iPod’s touch-screen to tap in details about the wind conditions, ammunition type, distance to the intended target and even the wind speed.

Ok, NOW I want an iPod touch. It will compliment my Mini 14 perfectly…

  2. Miguel says:

What will happen to a sniper for days on end on the field when the battery runs down? You should couple that with a huge honkin’ solar panel! And btw, some wind and temp probes to make all the calcs by itself. Heck, it could even fire by itself!

  3. JoaoPT says:

Perfect… Now, where do I find the iRifle ?

  4. Breetai says:

Sweet, I’ve got some buddies shipping out to Kosovo who’d love one of these.

    2,

A good expansion would be the ability to accept input from a hand-held weather station like like this one.

And a robot to carry it around!

  9. Donal says:

Trajectories will fall under some sort of DRM. It will plot them, but your won’t be allowed to use them unless you log on to your iSite account to log your iKill and pay your records upkeep fee. If it is too similar to another trajectory, you may have to rework it from another angle.

Eventually, all the good angles will be copyrighted and Apple will take credit for world peace.

    uh huh

  10. dezrah says:

I may just have to give up my G1 after hearing about this…Who would have thought that Apple would have the most badass app in mobile computing history?

  11. Cap'nKangaroo says:

My bet, CSI Miami or CSI New York. Just as quickly as the writers can figure some means to include it in the plot.
