President-Elect Barack Obama’s transition team is reported to be deeply divided over whether to offer a post to Monica Lewinsky, the former White House Intern whose intimate relationship with President Bill Clinton led to his impeachment. Until now, Lewinsky was one of the few high-profile figures from the Clinton Presidency who had not been recruited for the incoming Obama team. Mr. Clinton’s brother Roger is another, though on Friday there were rumors he would be named ambassador to Spain. One group, which includes David Axelrod, Mr. Obama’s campaign manager who has been named his senior advisor, favors the move to balance the influence of the Clinton-era policy people by adding someone with a different perspective.

Former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle, who is expected to be nominated as Secretary of Health and Human Services, responded to a reporter who asked about the Lewinsky rumors by pretending to receive a cell phone call. When the reporter took the phone from him and closed it while making a “we both know what you’re doing” facial expression, Daschle said that appointing Lewinsky would be “like rubbing salt in the wounds of Senator Clinton at a time when we’re supposed to be in a healing process.” The Clintons themselves have not commented on the possibility of a Lewinsky appointment though people close to her have said that Sen. Clinton was shocked and appalled by the idea. “It’s a non-starter for her,” said Philippe Raines, a longtime aide to Sen. Clinton. “She doesn’t want to run into Monica in the West Wing ladies’ room,” he added.

I want some of what they’re smoking over at Huffington Post. Sorry, but this one doesn’t pass the smell test. Still, it’s a funny piece.

Are you really as stupid as you seem, or is that just an act?

Tell me, what is the salary for Secretary of State under President Elect Obama? What was it when Mrs. Clinton became a Senator? What is the purpose of the Emoluments clause? Why do you claim that the Saxeby fix, which has been used by a number of other presidents to assure Constitutional compliance, does not do so in Mrs. Clinton’s case?

What’s your REAL objection to the appointment of Mrs. Clinton as Secretary of State, Lyin’ Mike? We all KNOW that it doesn’t have anything to do with compliance with an obscure clause of the Constitution that has no apparent relevance today in protecting American’s safety or freedom…. you and your fellow Dumbyites stood by for 8 years while Dumbay used the Constitution to wipe his ass…in ways that poased a clear and present danger to America.

So what’s your agenda, Lyin’ Mike? Is it to do everything in your power to try and block Obama from continuing the current success he is achieving? Is the contrast with Your Guy (Dumbya) just too great, and too humiliating?

    Hmmm, Lyin’ Mike?

#35–Lyin Mike==seriously, where do you get your talking points? Can you post a link to this issue–I’d like to get the full flavor of the koolaid you drink.

I was unaware of the provision you quoted and always fascinated by what our Constitution says and how it gets interpreted.

YOU do seem to have problems accepting any reasonable additional information once you get your marching orders. Sad, because you could be so much more effective if you just would exercise your intellect past the first effort of memorization.

Well done Mustard–together the thread is very educational for those who can modify the general by the modification of the specific. ALL of Constitutional, and most other, law is like that. Reading the Big Print only gives you a general direction. The devil in the details always.

    Speaking of Bill Clinton:

It is opined that Bill Clinton committed racist hate crimes, and I am not free to say anything further about it.
