Two Obama advisers have told NBC News that Hillary Clinton is under consideration to be secretary of state. Would she be interested? Those who know Clinton say possibly. But her office says that any decisions about the transition are up to the president-elect and his team.

Clinton was seen taking a flight to Chicago Thursday, but an adviser says it was on personal business. It is unknown whether she had any meeting or conversation with Obama while there.

Will she? Won’t she?

  1. Mr. Fusion says:

So sorry to see the right wing nuts still salivating all over their keyboards because of Hillary.

Yes, I would have no problem with Hillary as Sec. of State. I would rather see her in Health and Human Services shepherding our new Universal Health Care through Congress. In either position would be great for America.

Bill would make a great SCOTUS nominee. The question is whether or not he would want it. Another fitting post would be Ambassador to the UN. He might not like answering to Sec. of State Hillary, but, it would be another perfect job befitting his talents. Secretary General of the UN would also be a good fit.

Bill Richardson would also make a good Sec. of State.

My vote is for Paul Krugman for Treasury.

I would offer Defense to Colin Powell.

And I would offer Dick Cheney and George Bush the Deputy Assistant Park Ranger Helper Posts to the Attu Island National Park, Alaska.

  3. Dallas says:

#32 Fusion has a solid plan – ‘I’m Dallas and I support that message’

Republicans are angry that change is coming to America and they have not roll to play. I can sympathize with that but our nation has little tolerance for morons in this time of need. I hope they understand with patience.

  4. MikeN says:

Yeah, put Bill on SCOTUS, for which he lost his bar card. Of course, he would have to be under oath to answer questions at his confirmation hearings.

  5. I vote for Mr. Fusion for Chief Adviser to President Elect Obama for Cabinet Appointments.

I would suggest Cheney and Bush for positions as Oil-Drill-Lubricants. This is a job that requires them to do headstands over drilling locations so that the bits can go down through them into the ground.

  6. James Hill says:

Smart move by Abomination, under the “keep your enemies closer” theory.

Actually, I think she’d do just fine in the job.

  7. James Troll,

We’ve had Abomination for the last 8 years. Now we’re replacing it with Obama Nation. It won’t be perfect, but will be a huge improvement.

  8. Mr. Fusion says:

    #36, Lyin’ Mike,

Being a member of the bar is not a requisite for membership on the Supreme Court.

Also Taft set the precedent of being President then a Supreme.

Nice try though, now you can go back to worshiping Jimy Heel.

  9. Montanaguy says:

How about this for change (not that I really expect to see any with all of the debts Obama has accumulated) : Joe Lieberman for Sec of State

  10. Dave W says:

Okay, here’s my plan. Richardson as Sec of State, Hillary to Dept. of Treasury*, Bill to the UN.

*She has proven ways to make money out of nothing, after all.

As for W and Dick? To the wood chipper. Oh, and feed Dick in feet first so that he feel it.

    tbh..

main disqualifier: she voted for the $700bn bailout.

NOBODY who voted for that bill should be allowed to serve for our country in any capacity ever again.
Period. -that now includes obama as well.

it’s quite obvious those who voted for it could care less about the people or America’s future.

LBJ said it when he named a “former” political enemy to a high post in his administration. It is better to have him in my tent “pissing out” than outside pissing in.

  14. Dallas says:

#44 .. Nobody likes the $700B bitter pill we had to swallow thanks to the Bush and his irresponsible government.

Did you have a better solution that economists all over the world are advocating or are you just bitch’n?

  15. SnotLikeBlasterpoop says:

#39 – what we’ve had is the Barackalypse, which will lead to Obamageddon.

Honestly, I’m going to give him the chance to earn my vote next time. If I have more PRIVATE property, more money and a bigger carbon footprint in 4 years, I’ll vote for him next time. I don’t think it’s likely though.

What will you do when you can’t blame Bush for all your woes? Bush didn’t cause this financial crisis. He tried to add regulation that would have prevented it. But hey, that doesn’t matter does it?

  17. Super O says:

Millions of new jobs. T. Boone is building more windmills with Al Gore. Al could of run the EPA. Bill should be back to chasing skirts around D.C. very soon with Hillary busy running around the world on her private State jet. We really need a scandal prediction contest. K Street is back in action.

    ideas
    an asbestos industry bailout package
    boom on K Street
D.C. Chevy Chase for quick bucks
    congressional aide seeking new career
trade in the fancy restaurants and faceless offices
    hedge fund billionaire rescue
    Hollywood relief
    another $700 billion pretty please
    (we spent the grandkids money)
    hooker retraining program for NYC

  18. #48 – Thomas,

What will you do when you can’t blame Bush for all your woes? Bush didn’t cause this financial crisis. He tried to add regulation that would have prevented it. But hey, that doesn’t matter does it?

Thomas, I know we’re on opposite sides of the fence, but normally you have some fairly thoughtful replies. Would you mind posting a link to some story where anyone since Reagan, especially Shrub has actually tried to increase regulations? OK, there was one. But, Spitzer fucked up big time, literally. Who else? Clinton didn’t. Certainly no repugnican did. What legislation are you talking about?

BTW, on the scale of fault, yes, Carter and Clinton should be on the list. But, let’s not forget Reagan, Gramm, McCain, and the rest of the pols for the last 30 years who were racing to deregulate everything as fast as they could. The best that can be said for the democraps is that they didn’t deregulate quite as much or quite as quickly. But, deregulate they did. They jumped on that gush up Reaganomics almost, but not quite, as fast as the repugnicans did.

And, they were more fiscally conservative than any repugnican since Reagan. The tax and spend democraps at least recognized that the bills had to be paid. The effects of the borrow and bomb repugnicans will be felt for generations.

  19. #49 – Super O,

How about this for a prediction?

Obama starts to make things a bit better. But, we the idiots expect the entire Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush era damage, especially the W damage, to be rolled back overnight to the boom times of the 1990s. So, when that doesn’t happen, we elect some new neocon wacko, perhaps even the stupidest pol every to hit the national stage, Sarah I-shoot-wolves-from-a-chopper Palin herself. Then we find some excuse to bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran and because we elect some freakin’ idiot, the world assumes that we’re just as stupid as we were under W, turns against us, our new Nero fiddles while the Holy American Empire burns. Would that be the kind of scandal you mean?

Isn’t the 3 trillion dollar unjustified foreign financed war in Iraq enough of a scandal for you? Our whole country was mortgaged to about 120% LTV for this war. We are the recipient of a subprime mortgage from China. Let’s hope they don’t foreclose.

  20. SnotLikeBlasterpoop says:

Algore should be in charge of fuel. If we rendered him into biodiesel I could run my truck off him for year.

You know, that makes me think of how the POTUS carbon footprint will grow under BHO – they’re going to have to replace the 747s used as Air Force One with A380’s because they will need the extra space to fit his ego and hubris.

  21. QB says:

#48 Bush just spent money like water. Congress on the other hand didn’t care about sensible regulation the financial sector.

  22. modeltweaker says:

If I’m not mistaken Secretary of State is fourth in line. I wouldn’t want to be one of the first three if you know what I mean.

  23. Hmeyers says:

Maybe Obama is extra evil and just wants to hire her to fire her a few months down the road.

  24. Dallas says:

#48 “..What will you do when you can’t blame Bush for all your woes? Bush didn’t cause this financial crisis. He tried to add regulation that would have prevented it. But hey, that doesn’t matter does it?..”

It’s astonishing how much in denial you guy are. As long as the chief executive of the USA is Bush, I;d like to think the buck stops with him – especially after 8 years in office.

How dare you dismiss taxpayers like me criticize the guys in charge by sweeping 8 years of his incompetence under the rug. How dare you come up with ridiculous assertion that “he tried to push regulation” when the party mantra is less government regulation.

YOU, bud are part of the problem – an apathetic public to those we hire to and pay well to run the government.

How far back would you like to go? 2001? The 02 budget stated that the size of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is “a potential problem” because “financial trouble of a large GSE could cause strong repercussions in financial markets, affecting Federally insured entities and economic activity” How about 2002 when Bush called for the disclosure and corporate governance principles contained in his 10-point plan for corporate responsibility to apply to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? How about 2004 when Treasury Secretary John Snow testified before the House Financial Services Committee to recommend that Congress enact “legislation to create a new Federal agency to regulate and supervise the financial activities of our housing-related government sponsored enterprises” and set prudent and appropriate minimum capital adequacy requirements. How about late December of 2007 when Bush said “These institutions provide liquidity in the mortgage market that benefits millions of homeowners, and it is vital they operate safely and operate soundly. So I’ve called on Congress to pass legislation that strengthens independent regulation of the GSEs – and ensures they focus on their important housing mission. The GSE reform bill passed by the House earlier this year is a good start. But the Senate has not acted. And the United States Senate needs to pass this legislation soon.”

You are a fanatic and like fanatics that follow sports, you cannot think clearly when it comes to Bush. Reasonable people are not sweeping anything under the rug but we are also not deranged into thinking that all the worlds woes must be because of Bush. Frankly, if you want someone to blame it should be Congress. Congress is the one that drafts legislation. Congress is the one that controls spending. Congress is the one that failed to provide any regulation in the financial markets.

With respect to pushing for more regulation and in addition to what I said in #50 there is this NY Times article. http://tinyurl.com/6lp5qu.

  29. Thomas says:

Here’s a written article about the people that controlled Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Granted it is from the NRO but still worth the read for those on the left:

  30. #57 – Snot/Poop puked out “Your scenario is preferable to a world where everyone lives in a crowded city and drives a smart car or worse, doesn’t drive. Kind of invalidates the spirit that created, this the greatest of nations.“.

What kind of nightmare fiction-land do you hail from, where the land is destroyed by cookie-cutter McMansion, there are 4 7mpg Humpers or Naggravators in every driveway, and all of the country’s bucolic wilderness has been destroyed by predatory developers and petrofuel pollution?

Do you feel THAT less masculine if you forgo the symbols of consumerism-gone-berserk? No wonder you’re named after two of the foulest secretions of the human body.

    Sheesh. Get some counseling.
