Two Obama advisers have told NBC News that Hillary Clinton is under consideration to be secretary of state. Would she be interested? Those who know Clinton say possibly. But her office says that any decisions about the transition are up to the president-elect and his team.
Clinton was seen taking a flight to Chicago Thursday, but an adviser says it was on personal business. It is unknown whether she had any meeting or conversation with Obama while there.
Will she? Won’t she?
On a personal level I just have to say God I hope not…
My first reaction was that I doubt it, but that flight to Chicago. _If_ it’s offered to her, will she consider it a help to her ambitions? I still think it’s unlikely, but I could be wrong.
The Clintons just don’t dig Comrade Hussein like that.
And isn’t the press tired of trying to give Obama advice already? He doesn’t need it and I can’t imagine he’s paying a bit of attention.
And it ain’t like there isn’t plenty of real news to write about.

Hillary wouldn’t take any job in the Obama administration.
She wanted to be president and — if not — will choose to remain in the Senate where there are no responsibilities.
She hasn’t had a “boss” since maybe the 1980s and that’s not gonna change. She won’t accept a position where she is a subordinate.

Hillary would make a terrific Sec of State. In fact make a terrific cabinet member in most any assignment. I’d love to see her or Bill in some Obama cabinet position. Ooh, that would piss off the GOP, that right there would make it worth it.
The GOP coup de grâce would be to nominate Hillary (better yet, Chelsea) to the Supreme Court.
It actually makes sense. The one thing everyone is forgetting is that Obama is following in the footsteps of his idol Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln famously filled his cabinet with his election rivals. Think about it, during the Primary which two candidates attacked Obama harder than Biden and Clinton?
He is choosing qualified people with opposing views than his own. This IS change. He isn’t choosing yes men, big donors or lobbyists.
As much as I dislike Hillary and think Obama is one big con of a politician (he’s from Chicago and schooled in dirty chicago politics for christ sake), this would be a brilliant strategic pick. It takes her out of the senate and keeps her close to Obama. Her chance of wanting to run for President again is stunted as she would have no platform to distinguish herself from Obama.

She has claimed she doesn’t want SCOTUS. Like her or not, this is likely.
Clinton is certainly qualified for the job. If offered, I hope she takes it. Someone please explain the vehemence on both sides about Hilliary. I find her a pretty middle of the road, mainstream, slightly right-leaning, way too religious politician. I don’t love her. I don’t hate her. Why exactly does she inspire such vehemence?

* Did you know that of 1,000,000 hypothetical unwanted pregnancies, if the women carry to term, between 96 and 115 women will die. If those same women have unsafe illegal pre-1973 abortions, around 36 will die. If on the other hand, they have safe legal abortions, 4 will die.
Therefore, your anti-choice crap based on your religious belief about whether a fetus is a life, will condemn between 32 and 111 of these women to death for the crimes of “broken rubber”, “rape victim”, “abstinence only training”, or other minor infraction.
We all likely agree that women and girls of child-bearing age are lives. What about their lives?

I’d be surprised and amazed if she took that job or any cabinet-level job. The Clintons know that pulling a bunch of senators out of congress to fill temporary roles in an administration is folly. Obama will need these powerful allies in the senate. Maybe one or two can be drawn out, but seriously…this is a concept I first heard spoken by Bill C. himself.
#17–Scott==I dislike both Clintons very much as people. They both lie as they determine is best for their own short term interests. They are both very dishonorable people==aka “politicians” but of the hyper type. I don’t think they have any limits at all.
Still, both are smart, industrious, and give lip service to the middle class.
On balance, not as bad as better people who are lesser politicians.
I certainly hope he finds some job that she will take. Get her out of New York. Her whole term here has been a scam. She moved into the state just to be able to run for the Senate. NY dumocrats decided that out of the millions of people in NY, no one but Hillary was qualified. Through her entire time in the Senat she has been running for president. We basically gave up our 2nd senate seat so she could travel the country side campaigning. It would be hard to find anything of consequence that she has done for people that live more than 50 miles outside of NY city. Take her, please!

You’re right.
The only reason he would take Clinton is to stop her from running in four years. The economy shows every sign of going bad in the medium, and possibly long, term. Hillary’s good move would be to go back to being a successful Senator, and hope the big O goes wobbly.

I take it you’re not from the city. I live in the city and would just like to remind those who do not that doing something good for the city does benefit 42% of the population of the state. It’s hard to imagine many other things one could do that would benefit 42% of the population of New York.
Yes, I realize I’m biased toward the city. But, I am also biased toward the Adirondacks, so maybe it balances out.
IMHO, I was very skeptical of Hillary in New York too. But, she’s done a pretty good job.

And, benefits to NYC also benefit the entire Tri-State area, including Long Island, Westchester, Yonkers, etc. So, it probably hits 50% of the state or more and gives some fringe benefits to NJ and CT.
I think this is an example of the old maxim: Keep your friends close but your enemies closer. This comes down to what Hillary wants most: attention or power. I think she will choose power and stay a Senator.
