Two Obama advisers have told NBC News that Hillary Clinton is under consideration to be secretary of state. Would she be interested? Those who know Clinton say possibly. But her office says that any decisions about the transition are up to the president-elect and his team.

Clinton was seen taking a flight to Chicago Thursday, but an adviser says it was on personal business. It is unknown whether she had any meeting or conversation with Obama while there.

Will she? Won’t she?

  1. #57 – SnotLikeBlasterpoop,

#51 – Your scenario is preferable to a world where everyone lives in a crowded city and drives a smart car or worse, doesn’t drive. Kind of invalidates the spirit that created, this the greatest of nations.

In your twisted little mind, this nation was founded on people driving SUVs instead of Priuses?

I thought it founded on freedom of religion, equality, and other high minded ideals.

Driving had little to do with anything from 1500-1789.

BTW, good choice of blog alias. It seems to describe you quite well.

  2. #62 – MM,

Sorry I posted mine without reading your reply. Good work.

    >>With respect to pushing for more regulation
    >>and in addition to what I said in #50 there is
    >>this NY Times article.

Too little, too late. Dumbya proposed that THIS FALL, after 8 years of manic deregulation and frenzied attempts to strip away any protections against Dumbya’s buddies, the predatory and incompetent Business Titans raping and pillaging the economy for their own financial gain.

I’m guessing you did not read post #59. The Bush Administration called for regulation in 2002 and 2004 and it fell on deaf ears.

    (Thanks Editor for the correction).

Btw, the date on the article I provided in #61 is September 11, 2003.

  6. #67 – Thomas,

Links would actually be preferable to dates if you have specific articles in mind. Then we’d be more able to evaluate the sources. I had not heard any of this before and would be curious to know where it’s coming from.

    Thomas,

    Yes, that was good reading.

Too bad that the White House doesn’t have much credibility. The White House idea of increasing the FM’s regulation was to put it directly under the oversight of the Secretary of the Treasury, an arm of the White House. We have seen how well every other thing the White House oversaw ended up.

  8. Thomas says:

I am sure you noted on the link that every item provided references. The fact is that the WH has called for more regulation on multiple occassions and not just recently. Thus Congress, with whom ultimate responsibility to effect change lies, was clearly aware of the problem and did not get it done.

By the way, what would you suggest in terms of oversight? Congress already has an oversight committee that was created after the Enron disaster. How did that oversight from Congress work out? The reason the WH called for an executive branch oversight committee is that the legislative one was failing to do anything about the pending problem that the WH had stated was coming many years ago. If Congressional oversight nor executive oversight will protect against this sort problem, what else is left?
