Do we let him stay as chairman of Homeland Security? Do the Dems oust him? Do the Republicans adopt him? Or should he wander the halls of the Senate caucusing with himself?

  1. Improbus says:

The worst think you can do to a politician is take way his power and privileges. I say strip him of the chairmanship unless he gives the democratic leadership you one hell of a quid pro quo and a public mea culpa.

  2. Eric says:

You appoint him as the Ambasitor to Isreal, CTFD for them, and open up a seat in the Senate to appoint the Dem of your choice to fill it.

  3. Icenfs46 says:

Lieberman acts like such a little kid. He always wants it his way. He is a traitor to his party and even America at that. He should definitely be out.

  4. chuck says:

    Thank him.

His endorsement of McCain helped Obama get elected.

  5. OvenMaster says:

I say make him choose a party, subject to Democratic or Republican (or even Green Party) caucus approval. If they all reject him, then he should be (and stay) an Independent.

  6. iamanasshole says:

    Make him decipher this sentence:

“You should he wonder the halls of the Senate caucusing with himself?”

    [Fixed. – ed.]

  7. Gonster says:

Can we bring back the Guillotine? I have a list.

  8. sargasso says:

The Bedouin reserved their cruelest justice for turn-coats. They gave them, to the women.

  9. Jetfire says:

The Democratics would be shooting themselves in the foot(head) if they oust Lieberman. The only thing he really disagreed with them on is the Iraq war. He’s point on Obama not being ready was a valid one. If the Dems want to be Bipartisan like they say. How do you kick out someone who agrees with you 95+% of the time.

Also what will happen if the Senate goes the other way in 2-4 years and they need his 1 vote to be a Majority?

  10. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

He was also great friends with McCain. Leave him alone, let him keep his committee assignments.

  11. becagle says:

I believe that the knife in the Democrat’s back, is the one the Democrats stuck in Leiberman’s back first.

  12. Cursor_ says:

Make him the Secretary of the Interior.

There is a dead end job.

    Cursor_

  13. Dallas says:

He’s demonstrated to be untrustworthy, so dump the little fucker. But that’s me.

However, since Obama prefers to overlook Lieberman’s flirt with the dark side, I salute that decision. Obama is always right.

  14. Chris says:

Perhaps Obama is just using the old wisdom which says: “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.’

    Chris

  15. hhopper says:

Let him go back to work with Penn.

  16. MikeN says:

Why not oust him, so you can win his seat in 4 years?

  17. Dude says:

MikeN – They can’t oust him from the Senate. But they can say he isn’t a Democrat. That removes him from his Chairmanship, and takes away other perks he has in the Senate. He would have to do something really wrong (not just political wrong) to oust him from the Senate itself.

  18. BillM says:

I say throw him out of the party. A guy who sticks to his principles, means what he says and doesn’t flip like a wet fish doesn’t live up to the standards set by the Democrat leadership.

  19. @2, 18:

“and open up a seat in the Senate to appoint the Dem of your choice to fill it.” – You forgot that he have NOT been elected as a Democrat but Independent. If you remove him from the Senate replacement can’t be Democrat (or Republican).

“I say throw him out of the party.” – Again, forgetting that he have quit the party already. He is Independent for some time now. Question is can Democrats tolerate Independent people? From all these comments, apparently NOT. In other words: Democrats are intolerant.

  20. Jims says:

F- him! Set him on fire and have a wiener roast. Traitor.

  21. chudez says:

IANAA (i am not an american), so it isn’t really my business, but i’m wondering why there’s such a big fuss to get Lieberman because he decided to back McCain but there doesn’t seem to be a fuss on the republican side to get the republicans who backed Obama.

can anyone explain to me why? i’m not being sarcastic or anything … i just want to know.

  22. dws says:

Geez, he sticks to his principles. That’s not a bad thing, even though I disagree with him on the war. That said, I hope they remove him as chairperson of Homeland Security because of those views.

  23. jamespgagnon says:

The idea of making him Ambassador to Israel is genius!

  24. Carcarius says:

Drop him like a bad habit.

  25. Phydeau says:

The guy worked against the Democrats, trying to get a Republican elected president. And he has the balls to ask the Democrats (who rule the Senate) if he can keep his chairmanship.

The wingnuts here tut-tut the Democrats for being “intolerant”, but if he’d f*cked over the Republican party like that, they’d cut him off at the knees.

I wish the Democrats would show some guts and discipline and do the same to Lieberman. But they’re such wimps, I doubt they would.

  26. hmmm says:

I predict that if he stays on, his day to day interactions with other Democrats will become really untenable. It’ll work on him like drips of water one second at a time on his forehead. Now, the thing is, how does he handle this moderated, saturated hatred toward him? Only his closest friends will know that but I dare to say that this can only come to one end eventually. He’s out.

  27. Libertican says:

Because this discussion has turned into juvenile Student Council-like politics, they should assign him to the Clean Up committee for the Winter Inaugural Dance.

  28. Li says:

Does Bernie Sanders have a chairmanship? He is an independent, and he should be treated like one

  29. icaro says:

Lieberman should have resigned his chairmanship immediately if he was serious about reconciliation with the Democrats. It shows he feels no responsibility or remorse for his actions. A revelation into his true nature…

  30. Buzz says:

    I like #4. But…

    Fricassee might bring closure.
