MSNBC retracts false Palin story; others duped — As much as a few of the editors here disliked Palin, this BS about her thinking Africa was a country was never posted. It didn’t make any real sense that she was that dumb since she would have to see African dignitaries in Alaska. People wanted her to be that dumb so they took the bait. Meanwhile, Bill Maher ranted about it relentlessly as did many on MSNBC. These people’s lack of skepticism is frightening. This is the media at work. Even the LA Times was duped. The fact was, she denied saying it. Nobody had it on tape and there was no confirming source. Cripes, how hard is it to get things right?
The hoax was limited to the identity of the source in the story about Palin — not the Fox News story itself. While Palin has denied that she mistook Africa for a country, the veracity of that report was not put in question by the revelation that Eisenstadt is a phony.
Eisenstadt’s “work” had been quoted and debunked before. The Huffington Post said it had cited Eisenstadt in July on a story regarding the Hilton family and McCain.
Among the other victims were political blogs for the Los Angeles Times and The New Republic, each of which referenced false material from Eisenstadt’s blog.

#61 Mustard. Don’t whine so. You’ll be on my list of “most hypocritical”. I know how long you’ve waited to be included.
#62 – Paddy O’Pinocchio
Still waiting.
“Cripes, how hard is it to get things right?”
Well, first you have to WANT to get things right.
Scott, the Holocaust refers to the killing of Jews. So your factor of two doesn’t exist.
#62 – CowPaddy,
#61 Mustard. Don’t whine so. You’ll be on my list of “most hypocritical”. I know how long you’ve waited to be included.
Hell, I’d be satisfied to see a link to your own “most hypocritical”
And, no, not working to grant rights is not the same as denying them. But, no, Obama is not perfect. I never said he was … nor did he!!

>>Scott, the Holocaust refers to the killing of Jews.

Per Wiki-Whatever: “Other groups were also persecuted and killed, including the Roma; Soviet civilians, Soviet prisoners of war; ethnic Poles; the disabled; gay men; and political and religious opponents.“.
Although the Holocaust (with a capital “H” most often (but not always) refers to Jews who were killed by Hitler, the number of people he killed was actually 12 million. So how about if we call it “Hilter’s persecution and genocide” instead?
#65 – I agree, she’s still a dumbass. I can’t believe she is still in the news as much as she is. The campaign is over!!! Can we forget about her now,… please?
# 67 Misanthropic Scott said, “And, no, not working to grant rights is not the same as denying them.”
The President elect says he is against the rights of gays to marry.
So, that means he’d veto a law granting it.
Just continue to stick your head in the sand. It’s hilarious.
Nobody seems to have picked up on the sarcasm and spoofery in Dvorak’s post.
As if there are any African dignitaries coming to pay calls to the Alaska Governor’s office.
Sarah Who?
Sarah Palin herself pretty much verified the story.
When she was asked about it she went into a tirade about mean ol’ devious McCain campaign staffers being the source of the leak – Not that the story wasn’t true, that the story was leaked by McCain staffers.
Being that her head does barely have two brain cells knocking together, it is very plausible that she didn’t realize she was verifying the story.
As I suspect happened with the Bush/Rather deal, they can phony up and then repute the supposed source and then nobody talks about the truth of the story.
#39, Brenda,
So are you quoting a full column or parts of the column? It is impossible to tell. Regardless, that is one of most disjointed, opinionated pieces of crap I’ve read in a while. Was there a point you wanted us to take from that?
#70 – O’Pinocchio
>>The President elect says he is against the
>>rights of gays to marry.
Links, O’Pinochio, links. Or STFU. What *I* heard Obama say was that he was personally against gay marriage, because of his Christian beliefs. That is to say, in his own personal life. I NEVER heard him say he was going to work against it, veto any bills permitting it, etc. In fact, he voted AGAINST the Defense of Marriage Act and the Defense of Marriage Act (anti-gay-marriage bills).
Quit yer lyin’, O’Pinocchio.

>>Was there a point you wanted us to

I think Miss Lee wanted us to adopt Thomas “The Black Conservative” Sowell’s notion that because some smart people have done stupid things, and Obama is smart, his tenure in office will be awash in stupid things.
I’m sorry I wasted my time reading that.
It would seem a that a few people posting here think a story may still be true even if it comes from a source as credible as the tooth fairy at least as long as it says something they want to hear.
Con men love people like that.
I try hard not to be either the the con or the chump but sometimes it is kind of hard.

>>It would seem a that a few people posting here

Aw, c’mon, Deo. EVERYBODY here KNOWS it’s true. MSNBC didn’t say it wasn’t true, Faux Spews didn’t say it wasn’t true, and even the Talking Horse herself didn’t say it wasn’t true. Face it, it’s true.
Now somebody ought to track down the hoaxter, and find out who’s paying for his time.
THAT would be an eye-opener, you betcha.
Mustard, you should read the original posts before you respond.

How so, Lyin’ Mike? Are you saying that the identified the source of the funding used by the “obscure film maker” to create this house of cards, that recently came tumbling down, distracting attention from the nimwidiocy of Palin?
Did I miss that?
Somewhere, in a darkened deli, John is saying, “HAR! I really got ’em going – 80 posts on that one, guys!”
😉 Goodnight, Mr. Dvorak.
Europe is the country I want to visit next.
So what is the problem here? Fox Spews claimed that a McCain worker let on that Palin was stupid. We already knew that from her interviews with selected interviewers.
Someone stood up and claimed the ownership of the “story”. Oopps, it now looks like that person is a fraud. So could some wing nut Palinite explain how this means the original FOX story is wrong?

Cow-Paddy,
As for Rather, the Bush AWOL story has never been refuted and the documents Rather used have only been disputed by people using copies of copies of faxes. Rather was correct in his story.
OOPS!! Looks like I posted this on the wrong thread last night. This is in response to Paddy-O-Troll’s assertion that Obama is denying rights.
Gee, did someone say links. Hey Paddy-O, are you watching? Here’s a link.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-h6xWyWvK0
See how easy that is?
Here’s another.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73oZ_pe1MZ8
So, it seems that he wants to make sure that at least the rights of the LBGT community are respected. He wants at least civil unions that provide the same benefits as marriage. He’s not personally married to the term marriage, however.
Personally, I disagree. I want it called marriage. I agree with the remark in the second video about civil unions being a lot like “separate but equal”.
Still though, no matter how it ends up worded, he is for protecting at least the right to have a union with identical benefits to marriage. So, Paddy-O, you’re dead wrong. He is not denying anyone’s rights on this subject.
It’s the next day and she’s still a dumbass. Seems no matter how many Palin supporters comment she stays stoopid as ever.
#85 – The Monster’s Lawyer,
Yes, her stupidity flows.

Mustard I was talking about your attempts to correct my post on the Holocaust, which itself was a correction of Scott’s post, which itself was a correction… I’m out of this thread.
#87 – Lyin’ Mike
I read your post, which was a correction of Scott’s post, which was a correction..
My post too, was a correction. You said “Scott, the Holocaust refers to the killing of Jews. So your factor of two doesn’t exist.” I pointed out that his factor of two DOES exist, if you consider all victims of Hitler’s persecution and genocide, and not just the Jews that are included in the restrictive definition of The Holocost.
Seems MikeN has a point for a change. This seems to be a debatable point with cases for both sides. I’ll just say point duly noted. Let’s move on (not dot org).
For all the talk about how stupid she is, she held up remarkably well against Joe Biden.
#90 Missed Mark – Biden laid off of her during the debate because she is a like a child with special needs. He could have ripped her a new one but he would have come off looking like the playground bully picking on a retarded child.
Now you come along and say she “held up remarkably well”, nice backhand you got there.
