That the big news story of the last few days involves the Earth shaking decision Obama faces in which puppy to buy his kids is proof.

Before the election he told us that if Biden’s statements had been made by Palin the media would be covering them more.
If only he had realized this bias sooner, he would still be at CBS.
Honorable of him attempting to bring attention to this topic. But now MSM will move him even more to the fringe so as not to give him more spotlight.
Not sure how you fix this issue. I had hopes the Internet would help (such as with Dvorak Uncensored!). But with content filtering on the horizon, that opportunity seems to be slipping away.
The news biz hasn’t changed!
In March, 1915, the J. P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interest, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press … They found it was necessary to purchase the control of only 25 of the greatest papers. An agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers. – U.S. Congressman Oscar Callaway, 1917
We are grateful to The Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries. – David Rockefeller, founder of, and in an address before, the Trilateral Commission, in June of 1991
Capital must protect itself in every possible way, both by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, mortgages foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When through the process of law the common people lose their homes, they will become more docile and more easily governed through the strong arm of government applied by a central power of wealth under leading financiers. These truths are well known among our principal men who are now engaged in forming an imperialism to govern the world. By dividing the voter through the political party system we can get them to expend their energies in fighting for questions of no importance. It is thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves that which has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished. – 1924 US Banker’s Association Magazine
He is 100% correct!
Most Americans have no idea what is happening around the world. We get spoon fed by the major corporations, who only tell us what they want us to know. Spend some time reading news sites from around the world. You will be surprised what is happening out there, and how little we Americans hear about it.
Why is he complaining. He’s already proved himself to be unworthy of the title, Journalist.
#3, that is a scary read!
#5, You’ve never taken a decision based on what someone else told you, and it turned out not to be the truth? He got scammed in believing something and then embarrassed publicly and finally canned by his employer. Nothing in that makes him unworthy of the title of journalist.
Dan Rather, I salute you sir!
# 6 Peter_m said, “#5, You’ve never taken a decision based on what someone else told you, and it turned out not to be the truth?”
A journalist is NEVER supposed to take someones word on a story that important. Covered well in J school. Dan knew that but decided he wanted to make news rather than report it.
For that he was toasted. Rightfully so. He isn’t a journalist.
He is shunned for good reason.
May I recommend Watching America? This scrappy little web site translates news articles about the US from all over the world. Very eye opening and worth the time.

[That’s an excellent link, Ron. – ed.]
#8 Thanks. Bookmarked.
Paddy-O, he isn’t shunned. He’s a maverick gosh darn it.
#10 QB. Good one.
well its about time a MSM media puppet
spoke out.. how long will that vid last, i wonder..
personally, i think Rather ran his story with approval from the higher ups in CBS saying they’d watch his back, but then the cia/neocon henchman payed the execs a visit resulting in
“either Rather falls on his sword, or we take audit your arse into oblivion” -or some such..
#3, i’ve read all that/heard all that many times.. now, if you could only get that “slipped into” page 2 of all the major papers
and run it as the main story in MSM news…you might wake up some of the public..
ofc, that could result in alot of dead CEO’s but what the heck..
in the long run, if its ever allowed out…we’ll find JP Morgan/Citigroup and Goldman Sachs’s fingerprints all over the current manipulated financial mess and coming depression, just like they did in 1929 and prior…
keep an eye on the 10 Year T-bill % rate..when its starts moving up again (at 3.79% currently)
and goes over 4%, that means confidence in gov debt and the dollar is going fast and the dollar collapse is not far off…
iirc 10 yr T-bill is the main vehicle countries like china etc, buy our debt with..

Dan Rather has always been his own biggest fan, placing sensationalistic self promotion well above journalism on his priority list. That does not mean he is right or wrong, but his righteous indignation is comical when viewed from the perspective of unbiased truth.
#3 – Stars & Bars
Copy & Paste is fun.

Good post.
Can I take this seriously? She looks like Alex Borstein formerly of MAD-TV.
This guy still acknowledges that the document he tried to pass off about Bush’s National Guard service was faked. It appears that he doesn’t even understand the simple technology that proved this. He’s probably not even smart enough to realize that he is a hypocrat. (spelling mistake intentional)
Funny how the most liberal of the three lions (Rather, Jennings, Brokaw) is also the most bitter.
Then again, one’s dead and the other managed to keep getting himself on network TV. Go figure.
Alright, who’s using Paddy-O’s ID and making him sound rational?

Re: “Copy & Paste” Yes it is. Save one caveat. One must know what to copy and what to paste.
Those who fail to apply the lessons from history will be subject to a refresher.
FYI: The Obama Presidency will mark a significant downturn in civil rights that will extend well beyond our lifetimes.
#19 Yup, you have to watch out for that. There could be expansion of executive privilege, domestic wire tapping without a warrant, suspension of habeas corpus, monitoring of book purchases and library lending, and national security letters for search and seizure.
Personally, I’d be worried.
Did Dan forget about PBS?
This news story has the makings of the most important story of the century. But it was never covered in the good old U.S. of A.

Oh yes. This it the guy that single-handedly destroyed the integrity of network news. Who the hell would believe ANYTHING this slime says?

Can I have some of what you’re smoking?
#24 Mustard
Well, if you are not aware of the demise of CBS News, then there is nothing about which I can educate you. Christ, I don’t have the time and energy to educate all the libs who are infesting this blog.
Yeah but the demise of the integrity happened sooner.
What most people (neocons, anyway) fail to mention about the whole Dan Rather story is that HE WAS RIGHT!!!
Bush was an AWOL coward, who shirked his responsibility during the Vietnam war.
To date, the Bush National Guard story most idiot right wing nuts so famously tout, has yet to be proven wrong or a forgery. As much as they love to claim so, there is just no proof.
Yeah right Danny boy, journalism use to be trustworthy. Does Yellow Journalism ring a bell. Next.
Congratulations U.S. TV viewers !
The 1976 movie “Network” in now a documentary.
