Barack Obama has not even been sworn in yet as the 44th president of the United States but groups are springing up online calling for his impeachment.

On Facebook, an “Impeach Barack Obama” group has attracted more than 700 members and a lively debate about the Democrat’s election victory on Tuesday over Republican John McCain. Another Facebook group of the same name has 160 members and urges others to join because “we might as well get a head start on the impeachment of Obama.” “There are a lot of Americans out there that do not fully understand the concept of Socialism or Communism which is why they’ve elected Obama as president,” it says.

Yet another Facebook group, “Impeach Barack Hussein Obama,” has 160 members.

It decries that Obama “has voiced support for various unconstitutional programs such as the assault weapons ban, universal healthcare, and various schemes for wealth distribution.”

“What are we going to do about it? IMPEACH HIM!” it says.

Obama still has some way to go, however, to equal the number of “Impeach George Bush” groups on Facebook, which lists at least 95 such groups with varying membership.

Get your spot on the bandwagon before it’s too late….

  1. Matt says:

I lol’d. I do disagree with his weapon restrictions though.

  2. Mark says:

    Wow, typical retards.

  3. Rick says:

    Or…

    The Pack-Now.org option.

  4. Kim Helliwell says:

If Clinton couldn’t be impeached, and Bush couldn’t be impeached, why on earth would Obama need to be impeached?

I doubt these groups will ever get any traction, especially with a Democratically controlled Congress.

Maybe they just like to hear themselves talk.

  5. Dave W says:

Well, as one who feels that nearly EVERY president going back at least as far as Lincoln (certainly everyone in my lifetime) should have been impeached, this is a bit premature. Ask me again on January 22, 2009.

But, if we can’t get the ball rolling for George w. Bush, I don’t think we should bother with impeachment campaigns ever again. There’s little point.

  6. EvilPoliticians says:

I don’t like Obama but this is just silly.

  7. nonStatist says:

Enjoy your national service. Not that you had a choice in the matter.

  8. Ben says:

As a right-wing Conservative, I think we should give Obama a chance. He is after all, the elected next President of the United States. Bush Derangement Syndrome should not become Barack Derangement Syndrome.

Obama has both houses of Congress. He should either do very good or we will take both houses of Congress with him when he loses the election in four years. He won’t be able to blame the Republicans.

Of course I will use my freedoms to petition the government to keep him accountable; but he hasn’t done anything yet. He won’t even be President until January 20th.

  9. Cow-Paddy says:

    #2, Mark,

Very true. There are a bunch or retards around.

    #5, Kim,

Clinton was impeached. The House of Representatives decides who to impeach, and they did so in Clinton’s case. The Senate decides whether or not to remove the impeached from office and so decided NOT to remove Clinton.

  10. GregA says:

As a full blown lefty, I think we need to give these groups as much attention as possible. In fact, I hope impeachment is the central issue Republicans pursue the next two years;)

  11. Paddy-O says:

At least give Obama the chance to commit a High Crime or Misdemeanor. Christ!

  12. EricFromMadison says:

I’m looking through my copy of the constitution here and I don’t see a word about assault weapons, universal healthcare, and various schemes for wealth distribution.

And if these folks had a gripe about violating the constitution, they must have been quite busy themselves for the last 8 years.

  13. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

#14…that’s the irony of the modern conservative and the role of religion in his life. It’s all for show, apparently.

  14. Paddy-O says:

#18 “The US Constitution makes no stand on our monetary system.”

    Umm, read the document then.

  15. Olo Baggins of Bywater says:

Hey…the numbers switched. My comment was for #15, Eric P. At least as of this moment.

  16. Paddy-O says:

#14 “I’m looking through my copy of the constitution here and I don’t see a word about assault weapons”

Right. And no word about TV, radio, modern printing presses, the WWW, microwave communication, electronic bull horns… Shall I continue? Or, should we just shut down modern communications because the 1st Amendment doesn’t apply?

  17. Paddy-O says:

    # 19 Olo Baggins of Bywater – They switched twice now on me.

  18. Paddy-O says:

#22 “Chavez joined other left-wing Latin American leaders in calling President-elect Barack Obama’s election historic.

“The historical election of an Afro-American to lead the most powerful country in the world is a sign that the changing times which originated in South America could be knocking the doors of United States,” he said in a statement.”

I guess these neo-dictators see a kindred spirit in Obama

  19. McCullough says:

#21. Paddy-O- its part of the way WordPress works, a delay in the approval process. Which is why I usually use the persons handle when addressing comments.

  20. GregA says:

Wow, talk about your topic drift. I thought the thread was supposed to be about how Republicans have so little integrity that they want to impeach Obama even though he is not even sworn in yet. LOL.

Man, you guys really need to get past step one on that grief recovery list I posted. You all are still in denial;)

  21. Paddy-O says:

#27 E P said, “In fact, the Preamble to the Constitution calls on us to “promote the general welfare.”

AND, provide for the common defence.

Notice the difference between promote & provide?

  22. jbenson2 says:

Impeachment sounds a lot better than what we can expect to see during the first 100 days.

  23. Paddy-O says:

    # 29 jbenson2 said, “Impeachment sounds a lot better than what we can expect to see during the first 100 days.”

As long as Obama doesn’t try to pull a Hoover & sticks with an economy plan similar to JFK’s, I don’t think it’ll be a problem.

  24. GregA says:

    #29

Lol… and the denial keeps coming…

That editorial you listed talks about fighting the Obama agenda, but I gotta ask the question…

What will you fight with??? You have nothing beyond whining a crying like a little bitch to fight with. You don’t even know who your leadership is gonna be, and the remnants of the Republican party are now decending into civil war.

Like I said in prior thread, Obama is gonna do exactly what he wants to, and Republicans are not even gonna get a say in the matter.

Bend over, its coming, and there will be no lube;)

  25. Eric Phillips says:

    #28:

I agree. We have always needed a good defense, no matter our situation. But when America can do it, we need to do the other thing as well.

  26. Li says:

#14/15 Ah, but the constitution does give the power to mint money to congress, a power that they abdicated to a purely private entity some time ago. . .so it’s not like it doesn’t say anything, it just doesn’t say anything about -that-!

  27. Greg Allen says:

Bush could be caught — on video tape — selling crack wrapped in kiddie porn out of the backdoor of the Whitehouse and Republicans would refuse to impeach him.

But a Democrat? They’d demand impeachment for pocketing a hot sauce packet at Taco Bell.

  28. the answer says:

Sore losers. Typical that these whack jobs are tied into the religious nut jobs. They won’t be happy until they live on the moon by themselves.

  29. Les says:

Once again, for those who do not understand the terms. Clinton WAS impeached. He was not convicted in his senate trial, but he was impeached by the house. An impeachment is like an indictment. A possible outcome of an impeachment is removal from office, but not being removed from office does not indicate that he was not impeached.

  30. Paddy-O says:

#32 “But when America can do it, we need to do the other thing as well.”

But, it’s not what is in the Constitution or what the Founders intended.

#34 Li, “Ah, but the constitution does give the power to mint money to congress, a power that they abdicated to a purely private entity some time ago.”

However, none of the 3 branches of gov’t can abdicate functions without a Constitutional Amendment.
