God, these guys are getting old and moldy.

  2. McCullough says:

I thought Fonzie looked pretty good, considering.

  3. Ian says:

That did it for me! Not!

  4. Ian says:

    Good skit though!

  5. Ivor Biggun says:

I literally wept when I saw that the old Mayberry crowd has turned Marxist.

  6. QB says:

    Well that’s embarrassing.

  7. contempt says:

I always take my voting advice from people whose job it is to pretend to be someone other than who they are. You know – like Obama.

  8. BigE says:

Better to have moldy actors than McCain’s moldy policies!

Good skit, BTW. It was nice to see old Op back in front of the camera.

  11. grog says:

    heh.

conservatives have so few friends to support them.

maybe it’s because they call anyone who expresses and difference of opinion a terrorist, and tell them how they hate america.

or maybe it’s because they think it’s their right to just tell people what to do.

you guys might want to try being nicer to people who have differing opinions from you.

it’s called manners. you might try them.

  12. mthrnite says:

I bet Ernest T. Bass is votin’ McCain.

  13. James Hill says:

Good lord. It’s a funny spot, get over yourselves.

#10 – Like you, angry liberal. Considering your side has been consistently out of power, and not been able to wield it effectively when they do have it, you are the one lacking support.

It’s called owned. Get used to it.

  14. nObama says:

That sucks – I used to have fond childhood memories of Happy Days and The Andy Griffith show. Thanks for killing it Ronny.

  15. grog says:

    #12

such pleasant words. thanks for proving my point.

btw, the liberal media owns you everyday, and if it didn’t why do you conservatives spend so much time crying like little children about it?

i can’t help it, you guys make it so easy.

the only retort you guys ever have “he’s a communist”

it’s so predictable that it makes me laugh.

  16. chuck says:

Just a reminder to everyone in California: because of the change in Daylight Savings Time, election day in California is on Nov 5th.

That’s right: Nov 5th. So ignore all those people wandering around the polling stations on Nov 4th – that’s just a test to make sure the voting machines are working.

And don’t forget to get out and vote – on Nov 5th!

  17. James Hill says:

#15 – Just because I owned you is no reason to get pissy.

All you can do is label people that destroy your opinion, and whine about those who won’t go away. Get used to it, because you’re acting like a bitch.

The liberal media owns no one except themselves, as they continue to lose ratings over time and fail to push their true agenda, which is neither conservative or liberal.

You’re owned twice now. One more in this thread and you get an “Epic Fail”. Too easy.

  18. grog says:

listen to how tense you sound. i am controlling you right now and you are falling right into my trap

now for the coup de grace…

since you bring up what democrats do when in the white house.

    balance the budget.

    reagan couldn’t do it, g.h.w. bush couldn’t do, g.w. couldn’t do it.

truth hurts — now go ahead and give me all the excuses like a good predictable conservative.

    good boy.

    hahahahahahhahahahahahahahha!

  19. grog says:

sorry post #18 directed at #17 James Hill

  20. grog says:

i’ll be back online later to see how i got “owned” again

heh. like toy soldiers, the gop all march to the beat of one drummer.

that would be a single point of failure.

  21. James Hill says:

#18 – Look at how you’re behaving just like me. Such worship hasn’t been seen around here in years.

Too bad you can’t post under your usual name.

However, worship is the sincerest form of flattery.

Epic fail. No more posting for you.

  22. Ron Larson says:

When was this produced and posted? Its too late to register now, Mr. Howard.

  23. mthrnite says:

We actually have a statue of Opie and Andy here in Raleigh (nice one too!) We count Andy as one of our own down here. I’m glad he’s speaking out for Obama. We’re a rather conservative state, but I think this time around we might actually help elect a Democrat. That speaks very well for Obama, all other things being equal.

I came quite close to pulling for McCain (I’m one of those “unaffiliated” voters) but with the addition of Palin to the ticket, I slid the other way, and it wasn’t that much of a slide. I’m pretty sure either candidate would govern in a centrist manner, despite the liberal & conservative badges, because that’s what the country wants and needs right now. Due to McCain’s age, I looked long and hard at Palin, trying to get a measure of her. In the end I didn’t like what I saw, hence the slide to Obama. I wouldn’t be too crazy about Biden being president either, but I see much less risk of that. So, I’ll vote for Obama, hope for the best, and “pray” that he doesn’t disappoint me as bad as Clinton did.

I read this blog every day. I’m a Dvorak fan from way back. I used to like him even when I hated him (lol) so I put up with the extreme righties and lefties slingin’ crap at each other. Hell, it’s even funny sometimes. Other times, the word “puerile” comes to mind, but no matter, keep slingin’ turds at each other and don’t mind me.
mthr (I’m on my way to page 10) nite

  24. Dallas says:

The right wing loonies that have finally driven the republican party into the ground are increasingly being isolated.

A couple of these remaining dinosaurs are finding refuge here with Dvorak. They get to shoot blanks and then hide behind their keyboard and monitor. That’s OK guys! Let it all out!!

It’s GREAT to see Ron Howard bring forward a character like Andy Griffith to sooth fears being propagated by the remaining GOP fascists as they die a slow death. Maybe the GOP will regroup and dump the fringe element that has infected the party like a cancer.

At this point, I would dump the Republican Brand. It is tarnished. It means : Fascism, Death, Waste, Fanaticism, War, Intolerance, Racism. Naming it “New Republican Party” may not cut it. Gotta get rid of that “R” word.

  25. fedup says:

Fucking Hollywood coolaid drinkers. I would hate to me the dumbass that would vote for anyone because a 50 yr old opie and a 200 year old andy told them too. You show me someone that will vote for BO because of this stupid ass video and I will show you someone that plays tic-tac-toe with his own terds and believes Al Sharpton is concerned about EVERYONES civil rights!

  26. BigBoyBC says:

#16 Chuck, don’t be a fool, it’s spring forward, fall back. That means we here in California vote on Nov. 3rd

    Jeeze, do your math dude!

(NOTE: The above is a joke! People in California don’t get to vote this year.)

  27. onomontapeia says:

Why are people stupid enough to think they only have 2 choices? Be men, not sheep!

  28. mthrnite says:

onomontapeia: it’s not an issue of being stupid, or a sheep, it’s a practicality thang. I voted for Nader in ’96 because I couldn’t stomach either Clinton or Dole. In other words I had a reason to vote, and had an option to vote for who I believed stood for me. Turns out I was 1 of around 2000 in my state that voted for the guy. I won’t say it was a wasted vote, because I wouldn’t have voted for either of the two “main” candidates anyway. I wasn’t dumb enough to even hope that Nader was going to actually win though.

Basically, until a third party candidate comes along that motivates an enormous amount of people, a third party vote amounts to a protest vote. Sad, but I believe, true. I hope one day there will be a Centrist party, but until then, I’ll vote the lesser of two weevils, or not at all.

That said, I hope the Libertarian party continues to make headway, even though Libertarians are just pot-smoking Republicans.

    …that was a joke btw.

  29. bac says:

#29 — How can a third party get enough votes to make a diffence if nobody votes third party? If you really want change, then change the way you vote. What is wrong with a protest vote? If you do not like the two dominant parties, then by all menas protest by voting third party. Not voting does nothing to change the situation.

For people who say voting third party wastes votes, take that logic a bit further and say everyone can vote for a winner if there is only one party.

I would love to see either the democratic or republican party place third in an election before I die.

Don’t be apathetic, get out and vote.

  30. jim h says:

You gotta love Ron Howard. He couldn’t just do a political pitch, he had to make it entertaining and funny. If you didn’t feel a pang seeing Ron and Andy reprising those roles after all these years, you either weren’t a child in this country in the 60s, or you have no heart.
