A jury found U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens of Alaska guilty Monday of all seven counts in his federal corruption trial.
The jury found Stevens guilty of “knowingly and willfully” scheming to conceal on Senate disclosure forms more than $250,000 in home renovations and other gifts from an Alaska-based oil industry contractor.
Stevens faces a maximum sentence of up to to 35 years in prison — five years for each of the seven counts.
Legal experts note the judge has the discretion to give Stevens as little as no jail time and probation when he is sentenced.

What are the odds that he will be pardoned by Bush sometime between Nov 5th and Jan 19th and as a result will not serve one day in jail.

I think it is true that any governor could be “considered” but that fact alone in insufficient.
Seems to me obvious that the voters of Alaska followed my Golden Rule==VOTE ALL INCUMBENTS OUT OF OFFICE. As such, Palin scores only because she was not an incumbent and she served the purpose of getting an entrenched crook out of office for a newbie crook just installed.
Surely, one must be a governor for one full term and re-elected in order to have a record, have their four year record in office approved (looks like Palin headed for the landfill after one term only) before one really is qualified by said office?
He was framed, he forgot to do the paperwork, he trusted someone else to do that stuff, he was ill at the time and has no recollection of events, he was out of the country, he was on vacation, his wife did it, his accountant did it, that isn’t his signature, that isn’t his bank account, those aren’t his finger prints, he’s just a forgetful old guy.

Besides, the house isn’t that big. And while I haven’t been in the house itself, I’ve been in the area… and my wife lived near there.
