With 10 days until Election Day, long-brewing tensions between GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin and key aides to Sen. John McCain have become so intense, they are spilling out in public, sources say.

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin “going rogue.” A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to “bust free” of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out…

A McCain source says she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign. “She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” said this McCain adviser. “She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.

“Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”

If you want to rebuild the Republican Party after letting it be captured by 19th Century nutballs – then, you have reason to be concerned.

#30 damn straight – the conservative chattering class has already started to excommunicate each other. Strangely enough, some people think that ‘where you stood on Palin’ should be the litmus test

the yakkers seem to think that there is ONE test for belonging under what was once supposed to be a fairly big tent.

it’s a rare day when paddy and i agree:

if you don’t vote, don’t bitch.

    we’ll all be casting ours.

  5. grog says:

who can blame her? look at the numbers of people that sarah “the pitbull” palin packs in at rallies compared to the john “the cadaver” mccain.

she can see the writing on the wall. she’s clearly gonna run 2012, and she can’t have too much of the stink of this campaign’s death on her.

  6. blackolive2 says:

The last week before voting should be hilarious – she’ll prolly try some risky attack that’ll backfire… (Sending Obama to an easy victory.)

Whatever the farside thinks Palin has a strong base of support. I’ve seen to many signs not to know that.

I’d also say that McCain’s advisers are incompetant.

There were issues they could have and should have gone after that a lot of people would have responded to and they left them in the dirt.

Palin has a lot better grasp of working class America than McCain does. She can also be a much smoother performer.

I’d say she has a very good shot for the next go round.

Congress is mostly Democrat now and has a 10% approval rating. It is going to have a very strong Democratic majority after the election and most likely a Democrat president with both having an agenda that I strongly suspect a lot of middle of the road people aren’t going to like and that is putting it mildly.

At best they are going to have to get their acts together and pull of some not so small miracles or their heads are going to be on the political chopping blocks come the next election. If things stay the same or get worse its going to be their fault.

They’ve made a lot of big promises and people are going to expect them to deliver. I don’t think these people have a chance in Hades of not completely screwing up.

Your views may vary from mine but time will tell if I’m a false prophet on not.

Palin sounds to me like just more assassination insurance. Like Dan Quayle use to be thought of. No one will dare hack McCain, if she’s next in line. Perhaps this is the GOP’s strategy of once and for all killing off “women in politics”, by having the worst ever VP poison the milk.

BTW, did anyone really take a good look at this item’s blog photo? I mean “what the f–k” is she doing? Speaking at a gay viking rally? Well she’s lost the “Animal Rights” voters with this one. Hey Sarah, fur is murder. Didn’t that memo reach you up north? Is this number part of her Saks 5th Avenue shopping spree? I’m waiting to see her Ruby Red shoes and her little dog Toto, next.

Was it just a huge coincidence that fashion critic, Mr. Blackwell just died? Because I’m sure he’d have something to say about Palin.

the McCain camp has been sending mixed signals since it’s inception… looks like not even Sarah Palin can keep up with McCain’s endless wavering between “straight talker” and crooked politician

  21. Glenn E. says:

#53- You’ve got that right patrick. Palin has practically labeled Obama a terrorists, because he once knew some aging Weatherman. Hey Palin, ever hear of McCarthyism? Meanwhile, McCain stops to disarm the Obama haters in public. Didn’t he get the memo from the GOP dirty pool camp? That was their plan all along? To win by smearing Obama? Meanwhile, the press is surprising silent about Palin’s past associations and religion. Are they going to drop a bomb on her the last minute, and show her “speaking in tongues”? Or bring up her Alaskan Secessionist ties?

#7 & #9- quite true. A lot of thinking conservatives have started to turn their attention to what can be done to rescue the Republican party from itself. Further alignment with far-right fringe values can only damage their prospects further.
Most people, most of the time, are centrist (think Bell curve).
The same problem exists for the Democrats and the fringe left.

    #42 – deowll

There were issues they could have and should have gone after that a lot of people would have responded to and they left them in the dirt.

This is a good point, as we are all behaving like drug addicts. We can’t handle the truth about our country, our behavior, and our lives. So we elect people who’ll feed us the BS stories we crave to keep us functional. No politician will tell us the hard truth.

Palin has a lot better grasp of working class America than McCain does.

I take this to mean you think that Palin psychologically ejaculates the working class better than any other politician. She plays into their needs for a white, domineering, authority figure. She provides the comfort they seek during this time of uncertainties. She provides the illusion of control and certain success. See my previous paragraph, we are in this mess because we are told what we want to hear, not what we need to hear.

I’d say she has a very good shot for the next go round.

A shot at what? She is stooopid, “and you can’t fix stupid.” So, you must think she has a shot at being the GOP’s next sock puppet?

What we have now is a sock puppet leader with Bush (to an extent, as he isn’t as dumb as Palin), and the fact that a charismatic black man who might be elected president, is a clear indication that the we are undergoing a peaceful revolution. This revolution is akin to a peaceful version of the French Revolution (where The People overthrew their own government), or even more apt, the Iranian Revolution (where The People overthrew their own government).
