Capitalism (not Socialism) any Republican would approve of or an easy way to keep the riff raff away? It’s pocket change to the networks, but to a blogger or freelancer for a free, local publication who might ask tough, real questions the about to be elected guy might not want to answer on a cold, windy Chicago November night…

If a reporter wants access to the file center–which will be the best place to find Obama officials and spokesmen–be prepared to write a check for $935. The cheapest place a reporter could stand on a riser with a view is $880.
[…]
This is an outrageous pay to play plan that caters to national elite outlets with deep pockets.

I am not asking for a free ride–news outlets pay for plane seats, other transportation organized by the campaign, hotel rooms, plus associated costs for filing centers.

But this Election Night list is pricey and does not take into account some reporters won’t need power, cable, internet or food but will crave the access more than the food.
[…]
The campaign could not have made going to the free space more unappealing. If will be “outdoors, unassigned and may have obstructed views. General Media Area credentials do not include access to riser positions, satellite truck parking or the press filing center.”

The article lists all the assorted services for which one may order. I wonder if McCain will do something similar.

to come back on me with ideas and not slander, you’d have to say that the liberal media does not control the american agenda.

No I don’t. Refresh our memories. Please show us some documentation where Obama promised to not follow Campaign Finance Laws or has promised to take only public campaign funds.

    #29, brenda,

    Nice list of bullshit.

Obama has sicced his lawyers on TV stations airing NRA ads critical of his Second Amendment record

No, his lawyers sent cease and desist letters to the broadcast outlets letting them know they could be sued for broadcasting libelous ads. The stations made heed the warning or continue to broadcast them and risk being sued.

he’s called on the DOJ to shut down the American Issues Project for airing ads highlighting his relationship with Bill Ayers,

Again, more libelous ads being broadcast. Telling the truth is permissible. Lying about someone can be a tort act.

his ACORN-styled “action wire” regularly calls on its foot soldiers to bombard any radio station brazen enough to invite on Obama-skeptics like David Freddosso and Stanley Kurtz,

Say what? Obama calls all his friends to call the radio stations in turn and complain? Are you suggesting these callers couldn’t call in on their own?

his “truth squads” has recruited government prosecutors in states like Missouri

That would have been the local District and City Attorneys. Unless you have evidence that Obama “recruited them”. That is libelous.

And now the latest: the campaign’s general counsel Robert Bauer is demanding the DOJ punish McCain and certain surrogates for raising objections to ACORN’s flagrant and wide-scale voter fraud.

No, you are wrong again. The DNC and Obama campaign is asking the DOJ to investigate Republicans interfering with the election process. That includes the illegal use of specific government documentation to deny people’s right to vote.

In an Obama administration, there would be no hesitation to use the forces of government to suppress speech and thus solidify Obama’s power.

Brenda, you are such a tool. I could just as easily write how McCain will do something ridiculous. That won’t make it true. You though, have no such compunction, you just go ahead and write it.

I want to hear you cry when Obama wins.

The cheap seats will be just fine everybody…The One will levitate above the crowd and ascend to his throne. In a frenzy, the reporters will join the rapture, if they haven’t already, and broadcast live from the heights of Valhalla, where Obama will perform a healing miracle or two to the sound of a 1,000,000 man choir singing ‘I Like Big Butts’ while Joe Biden performs a frenzied tap-dance on the highwire.

  13. Mr. Fusion says:

    #43, Cow-Paddy,

OK, so you can read the NY Times. But where is the documentation that Obama said he would only accept public money? Remember, my question in #39 was explicit,

Please show us some documentation where Obama promised to not follow Campaign Finance Laws or has promised to take only public campaign funds.

    *

In 2007 Obama completed a questionnaire. One question, requiring a yes or no answer inquired would he accept public campaign financing. He answered yes and added he would pursue the point with a suggested plan for all candidates.

After McCain and Obama had sewed up their nominations, Obama’s camp approached McCain about campaign finance.

Obama campaign counsel Bob Bauer met with McCain campaign counsel Trevor Potter and, according to Obama spox Bill Burton, Potter “immediately made it clear there was no basis for further discussion,” that they weren’t interested in any sort of agreement. “McCain and the RNC had spent months raising and spending money for the general election, and their basic attitude was ‘You’ll catch up,'” Burton says, suggesting that the Republicans were also turning a blind eye to the activities of 527s.

ABC News: Political Punch, June 19, 2008

So how does checking a YES box of some political questionnaire make it a promise?

And to leave you with some pleasant comment,

Obama’s massive fundraising machine–which thrives on small checks from 1.5 million individual donors and rejects money from lobbyists and PACs–deserves a ton of praise. It is, simply put, the most democratic in American political history.
