first things first: quick google search says that maximum data rate for coax cable is 1-2Gbps per km of cable…second: about comcast and their speed increase. what isnt going up is the bandwidth cap. so if you get this 50Mbps line, you are still strapped with the 250GB cap. sorry john, you are way off base with your argument for the caps. if i get a 50Mbps line, and am only using that line for, say, 15 min for a HD movie download, what does that have to do with the amount of data i have downloaded? i have only tied up the network for 15 minutes! i use a big example here, but they get miniscule when you go lower than this size of file. seconds for music files, etc. etc….if you pay more to tie up the network less, shouldn’t you get more of a cap to play with? i have 2 macs, a ps3, and a directv dvr that i use my line with, and where i live i have no other option for high speed internet where i live (yeah, i know, i should move! workin’ on it..). these caps are completely arbitrary and are only a grab to stifle the expansion of internet access for all. it would be different if i could get dsl, but not an option here. satellite is way to expensive for what little you get. i just hope you come around with your cap opinion someday. keep up the good work!
