New York Times columnist David Brooks

Interesting. Bush’s former campaign manager essentially said it and now people in the White House are saying she was a mistake.

Your Uncle Dave may be a cranky wacko, but I called this weeks ago. I just went a little further and stated this was a strategy to ensure winning at the last minute. Palin was to provide flash for a while until people came to realize she was only smoke (OK, hairspray) and mirrors. She would then be dumped for someone of McCain’s stature who people would feel comfortable with as Prez if McCain kicked the bucket and would overcome the negative of dumping Palin. It would have to be done after the debates and too late for Obama to effectively counter. I wonder who it will be…

Unfortunately for McCain he may have slipped too far to recover, but we’ll see. John may still win his bet about McCain winning.

  1. Personality says:

Did you see the former press secretary on Jon Stewart last night? What a moron. He loves Palin.

  2. JimD says:

    It’s ALL OVER FOR MCCAIN/PALIN !!!

Even the CONSERVATIVES ARE ABANDONING SHIP:

S.S. “STRAIGHT TALK” SLIPS BENEATH THE WAVES !!!

  3. JimD says:

Repukes are just slinging the Acrimony and Blame, since their Candidates and perhaps even their Congressional Delegation are GOING DOWN IN FLAMES !!! Some intelligent Conservatives, like Buckley, are BAILING OUT ALTOGETHER – “So, to paraphrase a real conservative, Ronald Reagan: I haven’t left the Republican Party. It left me.”

  4. The Monster's Lawyer says:

#1 Mr. Personality – I saw it. At first I was thinking, “What a lying piece of shit.” then I remembered what his former job was, President Bush’s lying piece of shit. Then I didn’t feel so bad. I felt comfort in knowing that a little piece of his brain was rotting away every time he lied.

  5. Dallas says:

It would be a very ‘maverick’ move to dump Palin and pick someone else. A great idea but it may backfire.

    Scenario:
    * Palin resigns due to overwhelming ‘motherly duties’ and very family oriented, I might add.

    * McCain picks a fiscal hawk to address ‘the most pressing needs of Americans’.

  6. Angus says:

Good God almighty, I can’t wait for November 5, regardless of the outcome. I’m sick of yelling at the TV and radio about deliberately misleading commericals from both sides…

  7. What is this about says:

#6 – I agree (though I personally think the McCain ads are 15.3% worse 😉 Seriously though…everyone. Go out and vote! Then take the next day off and DRINK all day in celebration of the end of the campaign!

Doesn’t it feel like this has been going on forever? I think of of that McCain-Palin line,
“Who is Barack Obama”? Who? You hadn’t noticed him campaigning for 2 years? Over a dozen primary debates, Presidential debates, thousands of TV commercials, multiple trips to the Sunday morning political shows (which Bidden AND McCain have done, but Palin won’t). I know TOO much about Obama (and McCain) already. I’d be happy to NOT hear about them for at least a week!

  8. James Hill says:

Good lord, you guys are ignorant… including our Uncle Dave.

You’ve already been destroyed in this type of thread before: Spokespeople who are out of the loop (as in, not being paid by the election committee or the party at a given time) speaking against the party isn’t new… on either side of the fence. It’s their way of showing they matter, and that they should be in the loop the next time around.

Haven’t you guys realized that Palin is the only thing McCain has going for him, and that as she comes out of the headlines (in turn for economic news, not Obama news), McCain’s poll numbers go down?

Or, is this just your way of saying you don’t think Obama can win on his own, and that the right has to lose (as opposed to your man winning)? That’s a pretty bleak outlook for your side.

  9. BuddhaPhi says:

I don’t think there’s even a remote chance this will happen. A move like this by McCain (or Palin if she chose to step down for “personal” reasons) would only add more credibility to Obama’s often repeated statements about McCain being erratic. I love conspiracy theories like this though. The best thing is they’re always true. 😉

  10. Libertican says:

The media is hungry for a story. They do not want this election to be over 3 weeks out. No network/cable reporters can take a vacation until after the election. They have budgeted for overtime and 24/7 Special Reports. Both John McCain and Sarah Palin will be getting some very good press now until the election. Obama may feel a little lonely :} as his press corps is minimized. The GOP won’t win the election, but it won’t be because of the lack of favorable press coverage over the next few weeks.

  11. Balbas says:

    Dump Palin and hire …

    Aha! Nader!

He always pulls votes from the Democrats!

  12. SN says:

It’s their way of showing they matter

Or maybe members of the conservative right are tired morons from the religious right controlling the republican party. You’re an intelligent person, aren’t you tired of people from the religious right praising and glorifying ignorance as some sort of virtue?

The right used to stand for brains while the left stood for the touchy-feely heart. Now it’s the religious right that is accusing the left of having all of these dangerous “ideas.” Without brains, what exactly does the right have? Answer: Palin.

  13. The Monster's Lawyer says:

Even Dan Quayle wants her out. He told her to “…just be yourself…”. That ought to do it.

  14. tom says:

He’s got to live with that choice now. Changing his mind only makes him look incompetent and desperate.

  15. Sinn Fein says:

DEMORATS, win an election first and THEN you can enjoy your diarrhea of the mouth.

GO PALIN AND HER DEMORAT-ASS-KISSER RUNNING MATE!

  16. Angel H. Wong says:

    #8

I stand on my opinion that if MacCain should have chosen Condoleeza Rice. She’s much smarter than chibi Harriet Myers and is black enough to shut Obama’s race card for good.

  17. deowll says:

She is well liked by many. One guy who has never voted is going to vote for her.

She did a few things as governor he liked like try to save money at the governors residence.

  18. SP says:

    Too late, I betcha.

  19. JimD says:

This from yesterday: McCain pulls out of Wisconsin and Maine !!! But Palin is “Appearing” in Maine today !!!??? Trying to get her out of the limelight ???
