There are rumors that Obama will bring this bombshell up in response to the Ayres issue.
William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.
The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein’s government.
During the same period beginning in 1992, Timmons worked closely with the two lobbyists, Samir Vincent and Tongsun Park, on a previously unreported prospective deal with the Iraqis in which they hoped to be awarded a contract to purchase and resell Iraqi oil. Timmons, Vincent, and Park stood to share at least $45 million if the business deal went through.
Timmons’ activities occurred in the years following the first Gulf War, when Washington considered Iraq to be a rogue enemy state and a sponsor of terrorism. His dealings on behalf of the deceased Iraqi leader stand in stark contrast to the views his current employer held at the time.

No comparison at all unless McCain knew about the issue
okay, let’s grant you mccain didn’t know
that means that…
mccain must not vet his associates very well.
which means that…
he will not vet administration staff very well.
which means that…
who knows what kind of creeping crud he will put in charge of various aspects of our nation.
which means that…
we actually should fear a john mccain presidency

thanks for clearing it up for me!
Mustard, Obama’s 1st fundraiser was at Ayers home
He was selected by Ayers to help run the Annenberg Challenge.
Served together on the Woods Foundation board.
Bill Timmons is actually a very decent man. He is neither power nor money hungry. His company only takes on a limited number of clients and they all pay the same rate regardless of the issue. His company also will not have one lobbyist lobbying for one side and another one in the firm lobbying for the other side. This stands in stark contrast to most lobbying firms which will do just that. He is a man of principal. Wether or not you agree with his principals is up to you. That being said. I can not speak as to the story.
I am not a politician or a lobbyist, but my job does bring me into contact with many of them. Bill Timmons is one of the very few that I would choose to associate with.
The goose and gander argument is fair, I think.
Bill Ayres is not himself a significant national figure.
The accusations against Obama do not address the issues of the moment, but they do speak to the more lasting issue of Presidential character.
